Dr. Julie Lowe has treated me for acne for the past 5 years. She has always been very helpful and professional as well as easy to talk to. My daughter and husband have also seen her for other skin issues. Her office staff always returns phone calls and greets you kindly. I highly recommend her!

I’m writing on behalf of my mother. She has been a patient of Dr. Lowe’s for awhile, and last year she went in to have a mole checked. It was confirmed cancerous and taken out. She was checked again and told that all was well, and it was gone, but would have to have regular yearly checkups to make sure. Yesterday was her yearly checkup. My mother, who has never had insurance, and always paid cash for her appointments, had recently signed up for insurance with the new affordable healthcare act. When asked as she checked in, if she has any new insurance, my mother replied, yes, i just signed up with blue cross blue shield. The receptionist then told her«because this is so new, we don’t accept it, I’m sorry we can’t see you.» My mother then asked if she could just go ahead and pay with cash like she always did. The receptionist told her no, that would be considered insurance fraud, and gave her a list of other doctors that«might» accept her new insurance. I’m completely baffled by this treatment! She told me that she felt like a criminal standing in the lobby and being turned away, when she had the money in her pocket to pay! My mother, who came in to a doctor that she trusted, that has treated her for cancerous conditions, was turned away and told to find someone else. Could it be that this office is refusing to work with anyone that has signed up with the affordable healthcare act? Makes me wonder… regardless, someone who came in for a SERIOUSMEDICAL condition, was turned away because of «insurance issues» even though she had money to pay for the services. Such a disappointment!
