Jim’s Famous Chicken

The Hawaiian grilled chicken is pretty good but too expensive. My dinner for the chicken, 2 sides and a tea was $ 13.23…and that’s fast food! You dont get table side service, you have to fix your own drink and get your own silverware. If I am going to have to get everything my self, lower the prices.
Secondly, something that irritates me is when I am ordering at the front, the person taking the order is yelling right in your face to tell the kitchen what the order is.
Me: Hi, I would like the Hawaiian grilled chicken.
Order taker:(YELLING) HAWAIIAN CHICKEN! What 2 sides?
Me: I’ll have rice and coleslaw.
Order taker: (YELLING) SIDE OF COLESLAW AND RICE.
So then as I am sitting down and waiting, then eating, I have to hear the staff yelling back and forth. Not sure if they are trained this way, but it inly takes about 30 seconds to take an order, the employees arent saving much time by yelling. Figure out a different system!

Waaaay to expensive for what you get. I was very disappointed in their wings. This was the 2^nd thing I’ve ordered here. Hardly any meat on them and $ 10 and some change for 4 wings and 2 little sides. Plus, even though the lady was told twice our wings didn’t come out the way we ordered them. We are huge chicken fans, but we will not be back to this place.

This is owned by Swadley’s BBQ so when I had the chance to try them, I took it because I love Swadley’s!
First off, I was surprised by their expensive prices and then how long it took to go through the drive thru. I also didn’t like that there are poles around the drive thru so you’re just stuck there. Things like that don’t help my claustrophobia. During the order, we had to tell her three time that I wanted corn with my meal and somehow she still rang up okra. We went in and got a large corn in place of the small okra.
The chicken was crisp and hot but it was so salty, I only ate some of it. I got a 3 piece dark meal for 9.24 with corn and beans and rice for the sides. They advertise the corn as seasoned buttered corn but it was just some plain old canned corn with some salt. The red beans and rice were nasty. Absolutely no taste except for some kind of weird smoke flavor and the slices of sausage they added to it were very spicy.
He got a large chicken tenderloin nugget meal for 10.49. The tenderloins were a lot better than the chicken. They weren’t too salty. The mashed potatoes and gravy were really good. The gravy is skillet drippin gravy. I could drink that stuff! And the dinner roll was tasty too. The okra was crisp. I would have eaten more of it if I was a bigger fan of fried okra to begin with.
I don’t plan on going back. I can get less expensive but much better chicken with red beans and rice from Popeye’s.

Good food for the price. I always order the Hawaiian grilled chicken, pretty yummy. My boyfriend orders the fried chicken. He says it is excellent, and he is a pretty picky eater. Sides are all good. Friendly staff & country atmosphere. Will go back!

I’ll start with the fact that I Love Swadley’s BBQ, Jim’s sister company. I went hoping to enjoy some great chicken and sides. What I got was the scrawniest chicken that I’ve ever had. Appearance was fine, but hardly any meat on the bone. I’ve had better fried chicken from a cheap TV dinner. And I had 3 sides cause I love all the sides at Swadleys. Nope. All the sides were different not in a good way. Expect to be disappointed if you’re used to Swad’s sides. Suggestion to Jim: Use the same sides at Jim’s as Swad’s. Start with different chicken. The ones I got were emaciated. Maybe they got a bad batch. I’ll give them 1 more chance sometime.

I wanted to give this five stars. I don’t even have a problem with the price. The chicken is just average. The sides weren’t good. We had the mashed potatoes which were bland and the macaroni and cheese was just a very odd texture. I probably won’t ever visit again but it definitely wasn’t the worst food I’ve ever had.

Quality food. Been there a few times and love it. Calm and relaxing atmosphere with friendly staff.
Yeah, it’s a tad pricey but worth the couple extra bucks.

The food was good and the wait staff was very nice. However the cost was outrageous. What you get for the money is not worth it. You can’t throw a rock without hitting a place that sells chicken and the money you spend here could get you a much nicer meal elsewhere. Family of 3 was 37 bucks, 2 adults and 1 kiddo. I had the large tender dinner which consisted of probably 3 cut-​up fried tenders, 2 sides and a drink. It was around $ 13. Chicken, fried, should not be that expensive.
This place could pile in the people and $, if they would consider altering their margins per meal.

I have been wanting to try this place for awhile. Decided to take my daughter there and get some fried chicken. I ordered a 2 piece/​white and my daughter got a kids grilled cheese and Mac and cheese. I have to say that the fried chicken was fantastic! It was fresh, juicy, and the skin was nice and crispy. My daughters meal was good for her. I mean it’s a grilled cheese and mac and cheese. She ate it all and was happy about it. The service was great and they were very attentive to my daughters needs. Well done Jim’s we will definitely be back!

Chicken nugget dinner was very good. Breast and wing dinners were amazing. Usually don’t order breast and was glad I did. Pinto beans and mashed potatoes were perfect. Both my dinner partners had the slaw and commented it was a bit tangy. Staff is super attentive … Even to the point of running up to your table and interrupting your conversation. They will get the hang of it. Will def be back!!!

Great nuggets! We enjoyed their fried okra! The Mac and cheese was ok. Overall was surprised and will go back!

Finally tried and definitely would not go back. Tried the mashed potatoes and Mac n cheese with the chicken fried steak strip dinner. The steak taste burnt and the gravy taste burnt. The sides were average for a place like this, but I wouldn’t go back. No utensils or napkins on the ToGo bag… Makes no sense.

Anyways.down to business. The food is great. I would much rather come here compared to KFC, Golden Chick.etc. The chicken is very juicy. They have fried chicken nuggets or chicken on the bone. I normally get the small chicken nuggets. The nuggets are pretty good sized and there is a good amount for the small. It comes with 2 sides and a roll. The red beans and rice, mashed potatoes and mac & cheese were all really good. I personally did not care for the coleslaw. That meal does not come with a drink and is $ 8.49. Pretty pricey if you ask me.
The Hawaiian grilled chicken is good as well but they always grill it too long so we always have to say something when we order it or else it is pretty charred. It comes on a bed of rice with Hawaiian glaze sauce and a pineapple slice and you get one side. The small order is $ 8.99 with 2 chicken breasts (no drink included).
They have 2 salads and also serve liver and gizzards. The menu is pretty small and over all they are pricey so we don’t come very often. Clean environment and friendly service. Every time we have been then the manager always stops by our table to see how our experience is.

Food: Very juicy chicken that I could eat all day! The red beans and rice was excellent as well. I highly recommend the food here. Everything seemed homemade and with quality ingredients.
Price: Very expensive. 1 beast and wing with 2 small sides without a drink was near 10 dollars. Nevertheless the place was busy during lunch and with the quality of the food I’m OK paying that much for good food.
Décor: On the outside it looks pretty ugly but the sign was nice. On the inside it has great Western décor. I was surprised!
Service: You order at the counter but I had a man come by asking if I needed a refill which was nice on a place that you get your own drinks.
Overall: I would return and recommend this place if you have money to spend.

This place is really expensive! My wife ordered a chicken salad and it was 10 bucks! I ordered the chicken strips which were also 10 bucks. Both were average at best. Oh and by the way swadleys owns it

Won’t ever be back. Barely average fried chicken, priced WAY to high. The sides are good though. Drive thru packed no utensils or napkins and the green beans leaked all over the $ 10 three peice meal. Also when I picked up the chicken, my entire car smelt like old fryer grease, not chicken, just old grease. Rolls are pretty good..

Good quality & taste, traditional fried Chicken w/​the fixings. Rolls are great! Price for the portions? Not a good deal. Family of 5 & spent $ 37– 2 kids saying their still hungry after eating a kids meal. That price is with both adults drinking water! Atmosphere little old fashioned. Very similar to the swadleys that used to be here– if you have kids & want to try I recommend visiting on Tuesdays when they eat for free!
