Had a great lunch at Jimmy’s on a Sunday afternoon. It was Father’s Day, so we were expecting it to be crowded. But, it was VERY crowded. The entire restaurant was full for the duration of our visit. And, there was a line at the door the entire time as well. The wait, while annoying, was a good sign. We asked our server if this was due more to Father’s Day or if it was a general Sunday crowd. She responded that Sundays were typically like this. As full as the place was, it got warm, so that was annoying. But, other than that, we had a great lunch. To begin, our server brought us the famous yeast rolls with cinnamon butter. I’ve not kept a list of rolls I’ve eaten over the years, so I can’t definitively say these are the best, but I don’t recall having one better. You can get them fresh, and I mean out of the oven fresh. They are glistening with a slightly buttery top, and the rolls themselves are pillowy soft with a hint of sweetness to them. They don’t need accompaniment of any kind, but that cinnamon butter is rightfully popular. It’s really a cinnamon roll before your meal, the rolls and butter are that good. You could come to Jimmy’s, eat only a couple of rolls and really enjoy your meal. I didn’t fill up on rolls because I was interested in the chicken fried steak. The large version is the size of a dinner plate, comes topped with cream gravy, 2 sides, and the aforementioned rolls. The steak was also fresh, very crispy on the parts that didn’t have gravy. And, I found the gravy to be classic cream gravy with no additional seasoning required. Too many places skimp on the salt and pepper when it comes to their gravy. Not Jimmy’s. The breading was a little thin in spots, so I can’t say it’s the best chicken fried steak I’ve ever had, but it’s probably a 95⁄100. Very good steak, and, as I recall, it’s only about $ 10 for the meal. Great value. The sides were strong, but not as good as the steak or rolls. The okra is fried in a batter that is not too thick but also not thin. The mac n cheese is creamy and when I first saw it, I was thinking it would be flavorless elbow macaroni with an orange sauce. I was mistaken, it had some nice flavor to it. I’ve certainly had better, but I would order both sides again. My son had the chicken and dumplings with pinto beans, and I stole bites of each. The chicken and dumplings was fantastic. This is soul food at its finest, a large bowl with a great broth and tender chicken and veggies. Seasoned well(I don’t know why Jimmy’s has salt and pepper shakers on the table). My son(5 years old) loved it. The pinto beans were prepared with ham and had a great depth of flavor. A large bowl of these and a roll would be a great meal. We ordered apple and peach pies for the table, but I was so full I only had a small bite of each. I will say the pies are good, but not as good as the food. And, if you can get a fresh one, do that. The apple pie was freshly fried, and it was significantly better than the peach version. Service was very good. Our server was clearly working hard with the crowd, and we never ran out of waters or rolls. And, we received the check and to go boxes timely. I’ve seen a couple of reviews comment on the service, but we had no issues whatsoever. Can’t wait to return to Jimmy’s, which will be very soon.

Food is good. The rolls and ranch dressing are my favorites. Get a pie if you go. Service has been hit and miss. I usually get the turkey and dressing or a hamburger steak.

Very good food and prices too! Fried catfish — 5 stars!!! Spare ribs — 2 stars Rolls — 5 stars!!!(the butter they serve with the rolls is awesome) Chicken/country fried steak w/gravy — 5 stars!!! Mac n cheese — 3 stars Baked potato — 3 stars Carrot cake — 4 stars Cinnamon roll — 4 stars The restaurant isn’t on the best side of town and you can tell it’s been open for a while but the service is great. My dad even left one of his pills on the table and our waitress ran outside to bring him his pill. To me that shows that this place is not only about filling bellies with good food but also is about service. The waitress and even the bus boy were very easy to talk to. Will definitely go back next time in town.

Love this place! Our mom took us here to eat and it’s absolutely delicious, fresh and the service is great! We were greeted as soon as we walked in by several workers and even the manager with a smile. Everyone there works well as a team and you can tell that they handle themselves very well during a rush and still keep up with their great service as well as food. I will definitely be back. Our server was Leanna and she was amazing. They are lucky to have her there :)

Another Southside food establishment that has lost its reputation. I HAVEBEENEATINGTHEREFORYEARS — NOTANYMORE. This place used to have great food and service it has neither any more. Blame the owner for that. The place was totally remodeled the menue totally changed. The prices were jacked up and they intoduced greasy fried pies that they sell for $ 3 – 5 each. IN addition the staff are young and appear to be a bit stoned and could give a shit, most say they hate their job and their boss who they describe as an idiot.

Atmosphere felt dirty, food was decent and from what’s been on the news the owner kicked out a homeless person that someone invited in and offer to pay his food.

I just had the strangest experience there this morning. I was on my way to the airport and I asked Siri where the closest place was to get breakfast and was directed to here. It took a while to get waited on but I smiled when the waitress came. Since I have never been there before I thought I better ask how long it would take since they seemed pretty busy. However when I asked the waitress rolled her eyes and began to get angry. Twice I said«I’m just asking». I won’t repeat the conversation because it didn’t make a lot of sense. She seemed to take some sort of personal offense that I was asking. I didn’t want to put an order in and then have to leave. Finally after a big half she says well my response is this: you should have planned better if you had to go to the airport you should’ve left in time to get breakfast! Yes I’m serious this is really what she said. It goes without saying I just shook my head and got up and left. Yes I should’ve gone through a fast food restaurant but there weren’t any on this road that I could see.

Had high hopes of this place only to be let down. Upon arrival I had 5 hostesses look at me and not offer to seat me. Finally after 5 minutes I pointed to a table and told to sit there. Took about 10 minutes to even ask for a drink. Food took about 25 minutes to arrive and I never received my eggs, and was never offered a refill of my drink. I felt everyone around was a regular and they got the good service meanwhile I never seen the waitress except to take my order and drop it off. And I still didn’t receive my eggs. I don’t think I would recommend going here and I probably won’t go back. Now for the food. The bacon was hard, definitely not fresh, sausage was hard and dry. Pancakes were good and French toast was amazing.

Jimmy’s Roundup is not new to me but I feel a review is in order if only to justify a visit. The décor still has a hometown diner vibe with country music blaring above the conversation of families, co-workers & friends. The waitresses move quickly from table to table taking orders and clearing tables. The kitchen staff can be seen through the Pass busily cooking the orders. I ordered The Chicken Fried steak breakfast with hash browns over easy eggs and biscuit and gravy Taking a hard but fair look at the meal… The Chicken Fried Steak had loosely attached breading with a mild and slightly mushy texture but a pleasant. flavor. The steak itself is well beaten into tenderness and not over-seasoned. I have described it in the past as the best in Oklahoma and while I can’t think of better I think Chicken Fried Steak can be. the biscuit was appropriately fluffy with a thin brown crispy exterior the gravy a creamy blanket over the meal The hash browns were shreds of potato cooked tender and creamy with a crisp layer on the exterior just the way it should be. The waitress brought me the check halfway through the meal. This is an etiquette violation in my thinking and made me feel unwelcome. Even the best restaurant can have an off day. I will return even though I live across town. A hard look can tarnish the luster of an old favorite but an honest evaluation is what these reviews are about.

We are in OKC from Las Vegas for art show. Stopped at Jimmy’s on Saturday afternoon. Great food. Great service. Waitress was very friendly and attentive. Wife ordered roast beef dinner and I ordered half pound hamburger made from ground rib eye! I travel with a book that lists the 50 Best Burgers in America and drive out of my way to try a recommended burger. Jimmy’s is not on the list but should be. They served me one of the best burgers that I have ever had and I have had a lot of burgers. They gave us hot biscuits while we waited for our meal. Nice touch. Wife loved the roast beef dinner. Portions are huge and prices very reasonable. We each had a fried pie for dessert. Very good. Going back tomorrow for breakfast.

It is so sad when a restaurant owner is given a choice between serving a family that has been a regular customer for twenty years along with their guest – their PAYING guest – OR to refuse to serve the whole bunch because the guest is being treated. And that Restaurant Owner chooses to make the WRONG choice. Business wise, Jimmy, you made a really, REALLYBADDECISION. You threw away a long time family of customers who felt comfortable in your establishment because you didn’t want to be a part of them treating someone who is down on his luck to dinner. Doing that has earned you negative publicity, including this review. Now, the members of that family of long time customers will no longer feel comfortable coming in, nor will their friends, nor will the friends of their friends. Too bad. I have eaten there a few times, and yes, your food is pretty good. See, Jimmy, I drive from Albuquerque to Atlanta and back every few months, and OKC is a perfect stopping place for my first night, and I stayed at a motel close by. I like comfortable non-chain restaurants when I am on the road. But, when I saw THISSTORY about a place where I had actually visited, well, I can wait ’til Memphis or Tupelo for my southern cooking.

We have been to this Café several times. The fried pies are very good. The cinnamon rolls are worth having often. The yeast rolls they give you are also excellent! I have had the chicken livers and my wife had the chicken strips. Both entrees were very good! We have a lot more menu items to try. We will continue to patronize this Café!

The food was excellent. We had chicken fried steak and chicken and dumplings. The rolls are huge and taste fresh and homemade. My husband said he would go back, that definitely means it was good as far as he is concerned! He’s very picky!

Jimmy’s is full of the best comfort food around. We come here for office birthdays and it never disappoints. The rolls and the fried pies are to die for!!! I always get the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes. Then a peach fried pie for dessert. The waitresses and hostess are super nice and the atmosphere is casual. Breakfast is served all day.

My usual catfish place is closed for remodeling and I been trying to fill it with another catfish place, I heard that Jimmies was a good place for catfish. I went there today around 10am, I was quickly seated, and the waiter took care of me politely and fast. I ordered the catfish 8 pieces, with fries and onion rings. The catfish was good but not what I’m used to, the fries were not so good, the onion rings were pretty averaged. Over all I give it a 3 star for good service but, not another because I won’t be coming back.

This place is busy, so you need to have patience. It was noon on a Sunday. I wasn’t immediately greeted when I walked in, but I was noticed. They acknowledged my solo party and sat me at one of two available tables(which were two seaters). once I was seated the care poured on. After a few minutes and one followup later I was ready to order. The menu has a lot of great items on it, and I can’t wait to try more. The waitstaff is wonderful and all very kind and caring. I can understand why the gentleman next to me has been coming to the restaurant for 30+ years. they have four or five televisions Everyone wins at Jimmy’s Round Up Café. Way to go Jimmy’s.

A friend and I drove to Oklahoma city from tulsa(2 hours) because I won two free entrees. Ever since I saw that they had fried pies, I’ve been dying to go. Never had them and since this restaurant was good ‘ol country food, I figured I hit the jackpot. My friend and I were immediately greeted when we entered which was nice. It was around 630 pm so there was a small dinner rush but by no means packed. The hostess got our drinks as we browsed the menu until our waitress arrived. Let me stop right here and point out that the service was fantastic. Our drinks were refilled as soon as they were near empty. Not just by our waitress, but everyone did their part and made sure we were doing ok. Unfortunately, that was the best part of our experience. So our order was taken, we both ordered the fried catfish which came with two sides and a cucumber salad. She got the tabouli and fried okra. I got the corn(I ordered mac and cheese but they ran out) and fried okra and cheese fries as an appetizer. Our food came with in 10 minutes of ordering. Which was rather curious considering everything is supposed to be homemade. This includes my cheese fries that avidly came after our dinner. Immediately we both notice that most of our food is cold. Fried okra… cold. Cheese fries… cold. Corn… cold. Her tabouli was cold, which it’s supposed to be, but she said it lacked flavor. So the catfish was mediocre at best. It was just barely warm. Flavor was ok, but the breading mix at the store is better. So the last thing we got were the apple fried pies. Which was literally like taking every sexy thought you’ve ever had, and putting them in a pillowy crust and eating it. The crust is not crunchy which for me is perfect. I will say that if you want a crunchier crust, take it home and put it in the oven and let it crisp up. It’s jusT absolutely delicious, plain and simple. One thing we also noticed was that the owner walked around and talked to every table in there, but never came to ours. Isn’t something that’s expected but it would have been nice to have been checked on by him also. Overall, we both felt underwhelmed with our dinner. But the excellent customer service helped redeem them. They would have gotten a lower score had it not been for that. I’m more than willing to try them again. If for nothing else than the fried pies.

Had dinner at Jimmys after I’d been tagged on facebook for two free dinners. Everyone was awesome and friendly. Food was very very good with huge portions and quick service. We enjoyed our dinners, got an extra order of ribs to go along with cinnamon rolls for breakfast in the am. Hope you give them a try!
