I ordered dried mushrooms through the GrowOKC website. I prefer to use a local business when possible, and they have a growing urban farm in OKC. First — I think urban farming is about as cool as it gets. Pickup is free if you live locally. The mushrooms were vacuum sealed and all the packs were in a clean, unused box. The mushrooms look to be excellent quality. I plan to begin using them even tonight! I would not hesitate to recommend GrowOKC for mushrooms or other products they offer based on the service I received and the quality of the product I purchased.

I’m a prepper. No, not the live-in-a-missile-silo-with-an-AK47-and-1000-cases-of-Spam type doomsday prepper, but the common sense type who keeps a month’s worth of food and supplies on hand in case of natural disaster, Alien invasion, Sharknado or whatever may occur. And after working in New Jersey all year, I’ve met many people who survived Hurricane Sandy — their common refrain? «I wish I’d prepared better». In that vein, I wanted to stock up on firewood. We’ve had two weenie winters here in Oklahoma so I think we’re due for a bad one. I looked online and found GrowOKC. There are a few things that will more easily pull a Five Star review from me. One is being local, another is character. GrowOKC has both. Located in an old part of the Farmer’s Market, it’s just a small storefront with a hand-painted sign. Inside there are stacks and stacks of wood of the cooking and keeping warm varieties. Piñón, Mesquite, Oak, Pecan, etc… They have a pretty good website( ) that lists all their varieties. A very friendly bearded dude in overalls sold me enough to almost fill my enormous Dodge truck for $ 90. So if you need wood for smoking food or keeping warm, this is a really great place. It’s local, friendly, and about as Bohemian as it gets. But that’s why we love the Farmer’s Market!
