As nice as the staff was, I must say my family and I were unimpressed with the food. To preface, my husband and his family are from Panama. We have many Colombian friends and have also had the pleasure of dining in really tasty Colombian restaurants when we lived in the NYC area — as well as across the country. Because of that, I think that set our bar of expectations a little higher.(My in-laws who live out here also agree they’ve had better Colombian food elsewhere.) As a positive, our hostess/waitress was extremely friendly and nice. The place is quaint with ample parking should you come with a large party. I think the biggest highlight here were the empanadas. Cooked with some type of potato(I think) and meat, they were extremely filling and very tasty. I don’t know which region of Colombia this establishment represents(that might be the reason for my disconnect), but the majority of Colombian food I’ve eaten are from people and families who’ve lived near the capital. One of the things I look forward to at Colombian restaurants s the churrasco, or grilled skirt/flank steak. Regardless of how you like it prepared, the meat is typically juicy and seasoned with salt and pepper. It also tends to come with a chimichurri(green) salsa that’s soo good. They did not have that at this restaurant. The closest I thought I could come to a juicy flank steak was to order the sobrebarriga dish without the tomato-based salsa. Seeing as it was a skirt steak, I figured I could work with whatever sauces they had.(The offer a pink sauce which is pretty much a basic thousand islands.) My steak while cooked well done was extremely underwhelming. There was no flavor or juiciness to it whatsoever. I ended up not finishing it. My husband’s go-to Colombian dish is always bandeja paisa, which was okay here. The arepas were extremely tough and doughy. The chorizo(pork sausage) was cooked in a way that brought out more of the char from the grill and less of the sausage flavor. My yucca was okay. All in all, I don’t think we would come back to this establishment. Like I said, maybe the style of cooking is to a specific region of Colombia, which I definitely can’t knock. It’s just not my flavor and taste that I have grown to love from the various Colombian establishments we’ve eaten at across the country.

I was born and raised in Colombia and I can tell you that this place is the real deal. All of their food is super authentic, fresh, and made on-site. The owner goes to incredible lengths to ensure satisfaction and the food is to die for. The empanadas are amazing(try the calentado ones, you won’t regret it). I really could go on and on about this place. The décor/environment is pretty laid back and chill, very homey not flashy. Do yourself a favor and go eat here NOW.

I have never had Columbian food, but I did enjoy some of the plates we ordered and would eat there again. I was not really impressed with empanadas, but I have a feeling that they are similar to American meatloaf or Japanese dumplings. They can be made with many variations depending on the cook. I thought there needed to be a little more meat for flavor or something added in the potato filling to give it a little something. Even though they were a little bland, my son loved them. I had the Picada, sampler plate, and I only enjoyed the two types of sausage on the plate. The really dark colored one with rice was my favorite. Not really a fan of the chicharrone, but it was cooked well. My plate was a bit on the salty side, so I would not recommend this dish or the Carne Asda dish my husband had, it was overlooked. The rice and beans I thought were delicious. How beans are cookeI believe is a preference. I enjoyed the simple flavor of both the rice and beans mixed together or eaten separately. The other dishes I tried was the Plato Boyaca, one with chicken the other with beef, it has a great flavor. No idea if it’s true Colombian, but I enjoyed it, so I would go back for that dish again, and to try some of the others that sounded good.

Best Colombian empanadas I’ve had in the U. S! Beef and chicken are both great & the aji(green sauce) isn’t too spicy.

Terrible food, a disgrace to the Colombian people. To top it off, the service is TERRIBLE… Got a bandeja paisa, I’ll say just this, re fried beans from about a week ago, the poor excuse for a steak was 3×3 and tasted like crap!!! shut this place down and stop disgracing the Colombian name at this time!!! Please. Wish I could give negative stars.

Empanadas empanadas empanadas! I could order a dozen and eat them as my main course. Mmmmmm. Well, I probably couldn’t eat a dozen. But I’d try. Everything is authentic Colombian(or as close as they can get– some ingredients aren’t available). Very different and very good.

Wow! Load up on their Bomb Empanadas!!! Best part of their menu right there. Share and entrée and don’t forget the plantains. Chef came to the table at the end and requested thumbs up or thumbs down on his creations … Two. Thumbs. Up.

Perfect place to watch Colombian fútbol and munch on empanadas and a special tamale from Tolima, the part of the country where the owner Edgar is from.

My husband and I stumbled across this gem on Unilocal and instantly knew we needed to try it. When dating, we took a romantic trip to Colombia and had such a wonderful experience with the cuisine. Who knew an authentic Colombian place would be blocks away from our home in OKC! So, we brought my parents along and made a Sunday evening of it. As we walked up the steps to the front door of this tiny converted house, the door opened and we were welcomed in– like family– by the head cook(could this be Edgar?). Then, we were instantly greeted with the beautiful, bold colors of Colombia: red, yellow, and green. The tiny restaurant was filled with Colombians having Sunday family dinners, so we knew we were in the right place. We started our dinner with fresh juices(found everywhere on the streets of Cartagena and on the island of Providencia). I got the lemonada(fresh limeade) and my husband got the passion fruit juice. While his was sweeter, mine was tart and only faintly sweet. We loved it. We tried one of each of the empanadas for our appetizer, and we wish we would’ve ordered more. The were incredible– albeit small. And the green sauce was incredible! So make sure you order enough if you’re hungry! My husband ordered the ceviche. Don’t expect a Mexican style ceviche– these look more like nachos with whole shrimp on patacones(mashed and fried plantains). It was super fresh and had really nice flavor with the pink sauce. My mom had the steak with tomato sauce– it was more of a chuck roast type cut, but boy was it flavorful. Tasted like classic Sunday evening supper. My dad got one of the sample platters(as did I). His included tons of bite sized bits of fried goodies. Fried pork, yucca, two different kinds of sausage, a super smokey one that was almost black, and then a redder one that has a flavor similar to chorizo, and patacones. I got a platter with the traditional red beans and rice, chicharrones(fried pork), the red sausage, and arepa, fried sweet plantains, with avocado. Although the chicharrones were not my favorite(too much similarity to the sight of raw bacon), the rest of the platter was right up my alley. As you can tell, this is not the place to go for vegetables and super light eating. But it is seriously authentic(especially to our island experience where vegetables were hard to find.) Halfway through our meal, Edgar? Came over to make sure we liked the food. «Really? Yes?» Yes, Edgar. Very yes. Even as we were leaving(with giant to go boxes), Edgar stopped cooking long enough to thank us again and tell us to come back. The flavors, meats, plantains, décor, and hospitality made us miss the culture and cuisine of Colombia. We will definitely be back(yes, Edgar!) to try more of the arepas and the tilapia(fried whole– which was a favorite of mine on our trip). Again, if you want light eating, it’s Colombian food that is not for you.

YES. This place is super authentic and LEGIT! Yeah, its an old house and the ambience is pretty weak. Don’t take your sorority GF here. She will not give you a 2nd date, unless she is awesome. We had empanadas, and the infamous«Bandeja Paisa». DONTEVENTHINK of doing anything after eating this. You will cry of happiness and will lay down for a long. long time… Come check it out!!! OKC needs more places like this.

Tried this little place yesterday and I was blown with the quality, preparation, and flavors of the meal. I order Plato de(something fish) and it was so good. The fried yuccas, the rice, the whole plate was exceptional. The gentleman who waited on us was funny and helped us figure out what we should order. Please, drive past the fast food and try this authentic Columbian in the heart of OKC.

Great! Had the passion fruit drink and the bandeja pasia. Started with the beef empanadas. Loved it all. Hadn’t had anything like it before. I will be back repeatedly. Had a great friend take me here for lunch. He knew what to order. Thanks to him for showing me such a great place!

Had late lunch with my brother. He wanted to try the tamales, but unfortunately they were out for the day. For starters, we got the chicken and beef empanadas which were tasty! Served piping hot and accompanied with a delicious green salsa. We got the fried tilapia and Bandeja Paisa platter. Fried fish was fried perfectly! They serve the fish whole besides the insides. Squeezed a little bit of like and ate away! The Bandeja Platter wasn’t too bad. A piece of chorizo that was fried, piece of asada, and a row of their crispy pork. The meats were tasty, but I would say the pork had a taste to it. Maybe, prepping it, ingredients needs to be added to take that taste away. The sides were plantains, arepa, avocado, red beans, and some rice, delicious! I didn’t care too much for the arepa. Topping every off was an over easy egg.

The ambience and place itself isn’t the coolest but the food is excellent and authentic. I think they have the best empanadas in town and the salsa they serve with it us wonderful! I did have one of their combination platters once though and found it to be a little overwhelming because all of the food was fried, which I didn’t think it would be from reading the menu description. It was wasn’t bad, just not what I was expecting. You’ve been warned. The lunch specials they have are a really good value. It’s about $ 6 for a salad, entrée and maybe a drink(I can’t remember). The service here is really nice! The girl who served me both times I was there was really sweet and attentive. She got our order in quickly and the food out to us quickly too.

Don’t judge a book by its cover! And certainly DONOT judge this restaurant by its location or outside shabby character. The food is delicious, flavorful, and extremely traditional. Good Colombian food like this is VERY hard to find in the states. The hospitality here is impeccably friendly. Now a run down on the food… — They will ask if you would like to start off with some empanadas. DOIT! The chicken empanadas are my fav. It’s deep fried and stuffed with shredded chicken, potatoes & herbs and isn’t dry. The beef empanadas consist of shredded beef with potatoes & herbs as well. The green sauce served with it is a traditional Colombia aji. — Patacones(a mashed fried green banana) are crispy and not oily — Bandeja paisa is filling and a very generous portion that can be shared. It’s a very typical Colombian dish which consists of rice, red beans, a fried egg, a fried sweet plantain, chicharrones(fried pork), steak, and avocado. As for drinks, I would recommend lulo or maracuya(passion fruit) juice. And if you are a soda drinker, try the apple flavored Colombian soda called Postobon.

The empanadas are amazing here. Don’t order just one, you’ll want more! You can’t go wrong with beef or chicken. They also have empanadas without meat. I’ve tried the plato costeno entrée which contains shrimp. I love the sauce that the shrimps are drenched in. The beef steaks are another great choice. They’re tender and have a great seasoning. The exterior and interior of the restaurant doesn’t look like much but I assure you, this place is worth trying out at least once! There is a small parking lot behind the building which can be accessed when heading east on 23rd street. Service is great. Employees are very patient and have no problem explaining the menu to first timers. Credit cards are accepted here.

I tried this place on the advice of some friends and I was great! It is located on 23rd street somewhat going into the midtown area and near OCU, parking was a bit harsh to find however I parked behind the restaurant with no problems. When I walked inside I was greeted by a waitress who helped seat me, the place is a little small but as it seemed to be family owned establishment it was understandable, there was also a tv showing Columbian news on(which I attempted to understand with what Spanish I know lol) I was told the Empanadas were awesome and boy were they! They were served with this green type sauce that complimented them very well! I had the ones with carne(meat) in them and they were very good! For my main entrée I had Bistec Al Caballo which seemed like it would be equivalent to a Bistec A La Pobre from a Peruvian place I know and it pretty much almost was! Had the same things going for it, steak, with plantain, rice, and egg to go with it! All of which was made very well! The coke I ordered was not a fountain soda coke but rather a 12 oz coke can If I am ever wanting Columbian food thats of great quality I know where to turn to now! Will definitely be back!
