My experience thus far has been wonderful compared to the last salon I went to in Oklahoma(what a nightmare). I had been extremely depressed about my hair for days and I finally got the courage to pick another salon to try and remedy things(I had already postponed my birthday week dinner date with my fiancé once and dreaded looking in the mirror). After days of searching(and contemplating using a box dye or just shaving it off) I opted to go with Eden as it is an Aveda salon which is what I have been use to for almost 10yrs, and well reviewed. I discussed my issues and concerns via email with Kari who was extremely attentive and understanding to my hair disaster. She paired me with a senior stylist/colorist who would do an all over color to fix my hot roots and orange/red hair courtesy of my last«stylist». I lucked out by getting someone’s cancelled appt. so I booked the appointment over the phone which required putting down my cc for a deposit in case of a no-show(their policy). I was fine with that. Keep in mind at this point I had already spent $ 100 on the first dye job that didn’t come out as planned and another $ 50 plus a $ 30 gift cert to end up with orange hair plus about $ 80 in products to try and tone the color from orange to more of a red and correct the mild damage from all the processing. Needless to say I was kind of ready for anything and praying I left this salon in better shape then when I arrived. Price listed on their site was $ 65+ for my color(minus a $ 20 discount for new clients) but I did not note where apparently unless you are getting a cut as well, a style is NOT included(this was a first for me but it’s their salon and they choose to run it as they see fit), but it was my fault as I simply overlooked that on their menu. I arrived at the salon and was greeted by the front desk staff as well as my stylist in a warm and welcoming manner. She took my coat and asked if I would like something to drink. I was escorted through the salon(which is very nice, spacious and well appointed) to my stylists station and there I had an in-depth consult about my hair(what steps the last person who did my hair took as well as a showing of all the photos from before I went there, to the color/look desired, to the second choice and final result). The conclusion was pretty cut and dry: I got a bad dye job. Nothing I didn’t already know, but lucky for me it didn’t require a color correction, so I was happy about that. Malissa described exactly what she would do to correct everything. She was very informative and detail oriented. A breath of fresh air at that point, which I desperately needed. Earlier my fiancé made a joke about how I would probably cry and that it would be an emotional day for me. She applied a warm towel with aromatics to my neck and gave me a hand massage. She was very explicit and stated that while she could do a lot to change my hair color, removing the hot roots with a root to mid-shaft application followed by a mid-shaft to ends application of a different color, and some tricks to break it up a bit and help frame my face, that I would still have some«red» left because of all I had done, and that it would take a another process in 6 – 8 weeks to completely tone the hair color down. I was okay with that. She warmed up my tea and went to rinse out her last client, then came back and applied the first part of my color(explaining every step she was doing and what it would be helping and countering) and after color was done she allowed me to relax some while my hair processed by treating me to a complementary foot soak with Aveda products(some of which I own and love). I was more relaxed now and it was time to rinse my hair. When rinsing my hair I ended up with part of my shirt wet because she had tried to wrap a towel around my neck but she was sweet about helping me clean up and apologized(but the sink worked and didn’t go from freezing to burning hot like the last place which was nice) and after going back to her station I was given a scalp massage that felt great. Even wet, my hair looked better. She applied protein products to my hair to ensure my color would be the best it could be and we discussed some conditioners which add pigment that I would benefit from. She never pushed products on me, but answered all my questions as to what would be helpful in continuing to tone the red shades down a bit and avoid any additional brassy tones that may come up when my color fades. She did a simple blow dry and style and the end result was 100% better. Checking out I didn’t even note the price breakdown. I was talking about rebooking and products. I didn’t note that the discount wasn’t applied and the color was $ 95 + a style was $ 35. Regardless I left a $ 40 tip, booked my next color appt and left. Walking outside I saw it was still red, but no orange and not harsh like before. Costly, but worth it. Nice folks. Oh, I was later refunded the $ 20 discount.

For the first time ever I scheduled a massage & haircut. My only regret is that I didn’t schedule the 60 min massage. I really enjoyed Kayla’s massage & Jose not only took the time to understand my mop but gave me a new style that might help this old fart’s social life. Can’t wait to go back!

I live in Dallas but I always look forward to coming to OKC to get my hair color and cut done. Jose is one of the best stylists and color techs I’ve had. Ask for him or Alex.
