Cowboys OKC

Quarter beer is a good deal but that’s all I like about it. The playlist is the exact same songs every night, just reordered. Bull riding is cool I guess but if you’ve seen it once you’ve seen it all. Clientele is not all that desirable, you will see a fight if you stick around long enough. Bouncers do a good job though. Smoking is allowed so expect to smell like trash at the end of the night. This is a novel thing to see if you’re not from the south but one visit is plenty.

Avoid this place like the plague unless you get along with ignorant jerks. I am Canadian and was not allowed in because of it. They would not recognize my I.D. although my birth date is clearly stated under my photo. Small mindedness at its best! I’ll spend my money anywhere else.

Some things to know —
1) This place operates «mobster-​style» (aka Cash only). Bring your cash so that you don’t have to use the ATM and pay ridiculous fees
2) There’s a small cover ($ 6 on the night I went), but the drinks inside are cheap. I think I paid maybe $ 4 a drink, which is pretty awesome. I’m from Dallas, where covers are usually in the double-​digits, as well as the drinks, so this is a bargain for me!

Overall, a fun place! They play an interesting mix of country and hip hop. The DJ here REALLY looooooooves line dances (Cupid Shuffle, Wobble, etc). I felt like it was a little overkill on those line dances. It almost felt like I was at a wedding reception with an overzealous DJ.
It was REALLY cool to see the couples dancing. Some of them can do some seriously acrobatic stuff.
They also have live bull riding here, which I thought was interesting.
One thing that DID bug me was the smoking. They don’t allow smoking in bars where I’m from, so I just wasn’t accustomed to it. My hair, clothes, everything smelled of smoke after leaving and my throat even felt weird after leaving.
Other than that, good for dancing & even people-​watching.

I like Cowboys. It is what it is — a country music bar and club complete with bull riding. You won’t like it if you don’t like clubs, country music, line dances, etc., but it’s always fun for a girls’ night of dancing. They play a good mix of country and hip-​hop music, which I like. I absolutely despise cover charges, and Cowboys has a $ 7 charge to get in, BUT I will say their drinks are actually reasonably priced, definitely cheaper than I’d expect at any type of club. I think domestic beers are around $ 2 – 3, and I’m pretty sure last time I was there, well drinks were only $ 3, $ 6 for a double, and the bartender was pouring them pretty strong. Definitely a plus! If you like country music and dancing, Cowboys is probably a good place for you.

This place looks really cool and I’m sure it is cool on a Friday or Saturday when the bull riding is going on. I went on a Wednesday night because I was in town for work. That is not something I would do again. The crowd was a little sketchy and the «booty shaking» competition was pretty much women that shouldn’t have been on stage shaking anything. On the plus side, the beer was cheap ($ 1 bottles).

This place is crazy! Me and my girlfriends went here last night and had a great time. The indoor rodeo was a surprise. Thankfully it didn’t monopolize the time for dancing which was amazing. There were so many guys who could dance and weren’t afraid to ask. I definitely hope I get to make it back someday. For the ladies out there beware of the creepers though!

My fiancé and I go to cowboys almost every Friday night. He is a student at OSU so cover is free (for him) and only $ 7 for me. The 25 cent beers until 10:00 are a bonus. The bull riding is exciting and some of the riders are really good. Around 9:45 it gets very crowded so we try to get there early to sneak in a few dances. We always have a great time at Cowboys but, we always leave smelling like we rolled around in an ash tray. If smoke doesn’t bother you and you like country music– Cowboys is the place for you!

not a fan of country music. i’m a city girl, thank you. i got invited out with some people to but i had a blast! the barstaff was friendly, drinks were for a good price, and the dance floor was HUGE. and they have bull-​riding which is a unique thing to see in a bar. it’s not really my scene but i will definitely be back because i had fun.

Out here for a few weeks for work… somebody told me there was a club in Oklahoma City that had bull riding. Mechanical bull riding? Sweet! No. Real, live, angry as fuck bulls, inside a ring, right next to the dance floor, inside a club. What the fuck, this is the most redneck shit I have ever seen… but it pleases me.
Only club I have ever been to where the entire dance floor of 200 people square dances in unison, then a rap song comes on and every chick in the place starts twerking as far as the eye can see… then 2 minutes later you’re slow dancing to a Toby Keith song. Holy shit.
Beer prices are pretty reasonable, $ 8 cover…25 cent Bud Lights until 10pm. I’m down.

Wednesday night is hip hop. They didn’t feel the need to tell the Texas guy wearing cowboy boots, but were kind enough to send me to another local bar.

Granted, I am not a club or bar person, I came out here for a friend’s going away.
I looked online at their website to see what specials they had and it turns out Friday nights, OU and OSU students get in free with a student ID. I couldn’t find mine so I decided to take my official transcripts.
After parking, I guess I missed the «peeing on the side of the truck» routine, outside the building. :Insert Sarcasm:
At the front door, the lady refused to acknowledge that it is equivalent (considering school just ended for the summer a couple of weeks prior). Kind of rude and unapologetic, she said just pay the $ 8. This was around 9pm before a majority of the crowd showed up.
I am used to getting free cokes/​juices, etc as a designated driver. Not here… The Designated Drivers don’t get any privileges here… like free cokes etc. I thought they would encourage that so they wouldn’t be hit with lawsuits as people drive intoxicated.
So far I have not been impressed. The floors are pretty sticky and it smells like urine. If you stayed in a spot for more than a couple of seconds, your shoes will be stuck to the carpet. I would not want to see this place with the lights on.
They do have live bull riding /​rodeo style which was entertaining to say the least.
I don’t forsee myself coming back for another decade or so.

Don’t waste your time! Visiting OKC for business and I went here with my oilfield buddies. Arrived a little early and went to the door only to meet some rude security guards. They ask me to lift up my shirt and I did only for them to say lift it higher in a very rude way. As if they had a chip on their shoulder. I’m 6’3 and very calm, however I had to catch myself turn around and leave. Told my buddies don’t even waste your time! We met up downtown at Mickey Mantle’s and had a classy time. This place will not last with these broke guards at the door. #customerservicesucks

Review for dance night on Thursday night. Decent dj, rump shaker contest for cash, drinks not over prices as some clubs can be, smoking establishment so you will leave out smelling like smoke, women varied from booty shorts to fitted dresses but many looked good (surprising for OKC to me), predominantly black dance night but other nationalities did attend, security inside is pretty tight, security and police officers outside, security in bathrooms as well, men dress code enforced, no hats, baggy jeans, or t shirts without print on them, very large dance floor, and a doggone ‘real’ rodeo inside, only a 3 because of the smoke and dj was just okay

Better than any LA and Vegas hot spot. Cheap drinks, great dancing, live bull riding, awesome vibe. I had a great time.

How can you knock 25-​cent beers until 10pm on Saturday night? You can’t but it goes downhill from there. Cowboys has a massive dance floor that would be fantastic if not for all the wannabee cowboys who think dancing is spinning girls around while trying to yank the girls’ arms from their sockets — who taught these idiots to dance and think they’re great? By 10 pm, the DJ calls for a nice slow dance for all the couples to get out and enjoy a dance together and instead of finding a nice, romantic place to dance, you enter a war zone with drunk cowboys slamming their girls into you while still trying to spin their girls and yank their girl’s arms from their sockets! They even do the same moves during waltz music! WHAT? And people wonder why cowboys get a bad image for intelligence — so lame. The 25-​cent beers are still awesome and the live bull riding adds a cool touch but the moron, wannabee cowboys steel a couple stars from this, would-​be-​great venue.

Such a fun place! It is two levels and the top level has pool tables and is a good spot to watch the live indoor rodeo! The place is decked in warm, deep wood, there is a spacious dance floor and guys look pretty hot in those cowboy hats (and that is coming from a very urban girl). They apparently give dancing lessons one day of the week and i wish I would have gone to those because we were pretty embarrassing bumping into everyone. I would definitely come back here! Garth Brooks brought back such memories. This place convinced me that country stuff can be sexy, romantic, and fun! Oh, and parking is super easy because they have their own private huge parking lot. The coat check is right there when you walk in but it costs money.

Cheap beer. Active crowd. Wednesday night.
Extended review: This place is called Cowboys OKC now. Domestic beers used to be 25 cents but now they’re $ 1. Still pretty good deal though. I bet fridays and saturdays are wild but if you can’t do that, go Wednesday night!

Crowded & Smokey but the bull riding is worth checking out.

Umm, can we get one of these in San Francisco STAT?! They have bottled beer for $ 0.25, country/​top 20 dance music and live bull riding. Duh, winning!
The people watching was tons of fun and we also did a little dancing. If you ever visit OKC, you must go here and check it out!

Not a bad place to go if you want to dance. The beer is cheap and they have bull riding. Good stop for a weekend night.
