I attended this show as a customer several times, and have now just finished my 3rd show as a vendor. This show is HUGE and is very organized and ran by people that definitely have their act together. They have a good mix of arts/crafts and boutique clothing. I would definitely check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

So you’re probably thinking, «Oh, she’s a chick, of course she’d love AOTH.» But really, I came for the food and the exercise. You can spend a good 3 – 5 hours getting your walk on people! The vendors were just an added bonus :) The food stands, which are similar to the one’s you’d find at the fair, are all outdoors on the street by Centennial. As Garen stated, it’s a sea of estrogen. Tons and tons of women with their little push carts and their spouses unwillingly following along. Add in the mixture of some hand made local goods with a plethora of holiday themed stuffs(that is if you go before December) and you’ve got An Affair of the Heart. In terms of the goods sold, it’s hit or miss depending on your budget and taste. There were some vendors selling packages of soup and specialty coffees. Others were nick knacks and home goods stuff. I was inspired to do some DIY decorating and also bought a cute little fall garland with squirrels, leaves and acorns for 50% off. We met a sweet couple who thought it would be a good idea to open up a booth specifically for men. It would have a couple comfy couches and a TV airing a football game or golf. Besides the food, that might be another reason why the male population would flock to this event, maybe.

I am drowning in estrogen! I am attending this show with the wives of 42,000 other men who are at home spending this Saturday watching football and drinking beer. I become the carryout beast of burden, the lender of money, the fashion critic, etc, etc.(I only attend this show so that I can use it as leverage to get Mrs. Eva to go with me to one of my car shows or a swap meet when we are travelling around the country.) If you don’t tell anyone, I’ll tell you the real truth about Affair of the Heart — I’m not into crafts or clothes or interior decorating or fancy hair ribbons — but there are some great food vendors at this show. I can make a full meal off of their samples. I always come home with caramel cappucino, she crab soup mix, BBQ sauces, spicy ranch dip mix, sweet jalapeño jelly, corn chowder, meat rubs, vidalia onion salad dressing, mayhaw jelly… well you get the picture. And the bonus, there are lots of pretty ladies to look at and I always have a good time visiting with a few of them. Not a bad way to spend a day.

Aloha from the 808 State! I went here last year! It was awesome. This was huge compared to the small craft fairs in Hawaii. OMG there was a lot to see. I can not wait to see this year’s show. Bring your walking shoes and get ready to walk.
