What can I say. Teresa is a genius. I wanted a candy buffet for my wedding, that was all gold and pink candies, and she pulled it off with flying colors. The candy was all top of the line, everything from pink sixlets to gold glitter covered truffles. Every guest was SO impressed, and left with cartons full of candy. It was all delicious, and beautiful. We also had Teresa pack up our guest welcome baskets, and bridesmaids and groomsmen gifts. They were BEAUTIFUL. All of our guests arrived at the hotel, to these beautiful packed gift baskets. One guest who didn’t stay at the hotel said«if I had known there’d be presents like that, I’d have stayed at that hotel». Thankfully we have a couple left over that we can send to her. No one in Oklahoma City is as good as Teresa, or as nice.

Super fun place to do some candy or kitschy gift shopping. There are lots of beer/wine themed gifts, cute sayings put on cute objects, and lots and lots of candy/food themed gifts. I had tons of fun shopping there with some other gals for holiday presents! Plus, the shop keeper is super friendly. There was a particular sign my friend wanted, that turned out to not be for sale b/c it had sentimental value to the shop keeper. However, after my friend related who and why she wanted it for, the shop keeper happily took it down and sold it to her. Now that’s service!

I dearly love to take a long, leisurely stroll through Teresa’s shop and come out with everything from Gummi Bears to Vosges’ Oaxaca Bars to those little cinnamon meltaways I can’t resist. High quality candies and top notch service. Fantastic place to release your inner five-year-old!

This is one of my favorite havens in all of OKC. Tucked in the same historic building as my beloved VZD’s, this little spot has more charm in one tiny corner than some places have in 10,000 square feet. You’ll never go to the same 42nd Street twice, because the owner Teresa changes it for every season, and orders different things every year. The pictures I just posted are from the Easter/Spring decorations. I could have taken 40 photos and not shown you everything. I picked up some birthday chocolates for my dad, as well as some truffles for my boyfriend, because I don’t really do that many nice things for him and he loves chocolate more than anyone I know. Both were a big hit. I always come here for hostess gifts, or to take to a party where for whatever reason it’s not apropos to take a bottle of wine(kid parties, preggos, et al). I also like to get one truffle per place setting for a fancy dinner party. Truffles really class up a table. To me, this shop is the poster child for shopping local. They’ve been in business since 1979, or, longer than I’ve been alive. They curate an amazing selection of chocolate happiness, including imported truffles from the finest chocolatiers in the world, while also selling lots of less-fancy candy and quite a few throwbacks from childhood(for several different generations, I might add). They provide items for silent auctions and gift bags for half the charities in town, and give even more than that for those causes really close to their heart, such as the annual St. Baldricks. Teresa knows many of her customers on a first-name basis and has watched their children grow up, providing lots of magic for many a metro child over the years. Finally, in the event you’re not already halfway in your car to get your chocolate/nostalgia/warm fuzzy fix, unlike the dreaded mall, you can get in and out in five minutes if you need to, thanks to tons of easy parking. If you’re really in a jam, call ahead and they can make a gift basket for you. A great place to take the aunties when they’re in town! I could go on and on but I have to go eat my chocolate now…

My companion and I had a mission to get truffles. I had first entered 42nd Street Candy Company a few years back when they were next door in a substantially smaller shop. As the door to the shop swung open we were assaulted by the heady sent of chocolate. It was divine. There were lovely chocolate and candy arrangement to be purchased as gifts or treats for the buyer. The shop was quite large and we took a moment to explore. There was everything from imported truffles from Paris to Zazzles. The store was very neat and organized. When we were ready to make our selections of truffles from the set of refrigerated cases the clerk was very helpful and informative, offering suggestions of wine pairings to go with each chocolate. She described the flavors of the truffles and assorted chocolates that we were curious of and made some suggestion. As we devoured our treat, I was transported to South America then to Switzerland. For a few minutes I forgot I was in Oklahoma. My tongue traveled the world through that box of chocolate. I think I will make this my bi-weekly indulgence.

I have started Lent this year with the 40 Days of Chocolate. I have not been in to 42 st. since I gave up chocolate three years ago. This place is the bomb. Excellent selection of chocolates. They have things I have only read about and never expected to see in OKC.
