Botanica Orisha Ile Ifa

This isn’t your typical botanica. It’s more of a boutique. The owners are a babalawo and his wife (hija de Obatala) and they are both very friendly and accommodating. Their boutique isn’t full of candles and statues and whatnot. They do have a few statues (and they are different from the tried and true ones that are available anywhere) and a few candles.
You can also purchases white skirts, small ceramic cups for eggun, a few soperas and other odds and ends. If there is something particular that you want, they will order it for you. The babalawo there does provide readings and he is very accurate.
Street parking is somewhat limited as the store is located on the corner of a residential street.

One of the few botanicas in the Chicagoland area that’s actually run by santeros. The owner and his wife are very down-​to-​earth people. Although I drive by this area often, I just noticed it last week. Apparently it’s been there for about two years. A very modest selection. Very few candles to choose from but they do carry many specialty items. I also inquired about an eggun doll and the owners wife told me that they are available by special order. After probing a bit more, I was informed that the reason they are special order is because the owner’s wife actually makes the doll’s clothing. That’s what I’m talking about!!! She can make them to the customer’s specifications. I will definitly return with a very specific order. The items that I purchased were very reasonably priced. The owner also does spritual reading/​consulations. Definitly worth checking out!
