This place has saved me in my late night craving moments. When it’s late but you don’t want fast food this is the place to go. They open daily 9am-12am and their grilled fish plate, walnut shrimp, teriyaki chicken, rice, veggies are all bomb. Hit the spot. The only location in Chula Vista. Healthier than my Chinese food spot. Only one size drink for 1.79. Drive thru is fast enough.

Pretty average. Good if you want something fast and fresh. Flavor was good. But doesnt knock your socks off. Only tried them because me and my husband had coupons. He liked it a bit more than me.

Eh, got an add/coupon for this place. Looked good in the pictures, decided well why not? My wife and I got two meals and some sides for the price of one, so we were happy… til we ate it and ew, was better off getting panda express. I have had beef bowls and teriyaki chicken better than this place made by my white friends.

Whenever i crave for beef bowl like the one we always have in Japan i go to this place. They have a drive thru so it’s pretty convenient for me especially when i’m on the go. The clam chowder is not as good but it’s ok for me. Service is quite fast and friendly but they need to keep track of the dining area because sometimes the tables and floors are sticky.

I’ve been to japan and this place is GARBAGE. Obviously here in the states or should I say Chula Vista the food is not good. First of «gyu don» aka beef bowl is supposed to be served in a bowl. Not in a ready to go home square foam plate. The beef was tasteless. The rice was not the proper rice for the type off food. I actually work in a japanese restaurant and yes it is possible to upgrade the flavor and everything else about this place. Beef bowl is the main dish of yoshinoya. Why the hell is the worst thing they serve? And at the end the beef wasnt even topped with the ginger. Not even served with a side of miso soup. Fake ass japanese food. Just making money serving cheap ass food that is prepared wrong. Want japanese food, go to mitsuwa the actual japanese place to eat real japanese food or any other authentic japanese places. Also didnt even see a japanese person working at the joint. Theres a few japanese reataurant down the street. Better go to those.

Came here with my husband for the first time a month ago and we were not inpressed! Food — ok. Meat was fatty teriyaki was bland, veggies over cooked or old. Only good thing was the spring rolls and not even the best. They were a tad bit soggy. Won’t be coming back; one time type of thing. Ended up tossing most the meal. :( 2 stars for drive thru and being quick.

Beef bowl was chewy and not moist. Chicken bowl was not good either. There was alot of fat so I ended up not eating some of the pieces and didn’t have no more chicken to eat with my rice, so the ending result was wasted rice. The only good bowl between the 3 of us was the Angus steak bowl, I had no complaints except that they never put enough meat in the bowls. Other then that I enjoyed it.

I’ve been coming here since I was little & nothing about it has changed meaning: — Same yummy & simple terriyaki bowls — Old 90’s décor — Same unimpressive but decent customer service Bottom line, its Yoshinoya not a 5 star eatery. Its a filling & affordable. I wish they would modernize it a bit but its kinda nostalgic eating at a place that looks exactly the same as it did when I was growing up. I’ve never eaten here within the past 20 years and had food bad so thats quite an accomplishment.

What happened?! After a few bites out of our entrees I’m not going to crave Yoshinoya anymore :( Our terriyaki sauce is bleh and the beef is way too salty! All I kept thinking about is FlameBroiler… Yoshinoya you have broken my heart after soooo many years…

Eat their food from time to time only because it has a drive-thru. The prices of their beef bowls have increased significantly and now I question if its even worth the prices. The tilapia fish plate is an improvement to the menu but it tasted okay. I really do consider it a blessing that they have stayed open for business for so many years in the south bay area.

Fake Japanese with an attitude? Thanks but no thanks. Since I live in Northern California, I’ve been past one of these in Santa Clara/Sunnyvale(San Fran Bay Area) and it was recommended to me by someone Japanese at the car dealership where I go. Still, it’s right in the heart of Korean territory and i’m always sidetracked. This location is close to where a buddy lives and he and his girlfriend like it, so I wanted to try it. I was checking the menu items and the woman from the drive-thru talked to us. Since I know the items in Japanese, I was trying to figure out what to order and I was weirded out by the Teriyaki that used a sauce. I mentioned something about Japanese and she became a bit louder to tell me that«This is America» while two people next to me were speaking Spanish. Uh Huh. I ordered the Tilapia, which didn’t seem Japanese at all, but whatever, I like fish. It didn’t take long and our food was ready. My buddy and I were talking and I didn’t hear Ms. Attitude the first time. She repeated it and mentioned my name, with an attitude. The food was good, but the service – I won’t return to this location for sure.

I love yoshinoya! But this one is ridiculous! Super slow drive thru and if you go inside! They always have 1 or 2 people working and it takes at least 20min to get 1 beef bowl! I had to stop going there due to this problem. Good food but really bad service. I feel bad for the employees they are just doing there job and I never take it out on them. but management has to step up and take charge.

Before today I hated that I liked this place! The food is packed with sodium but it’s so yummy and for less than $ 10 you can walk out with a pretty good and fast meal. But now(!) I can feel better about coming here cause they have this new tilapia dish… it looks appetizing, was cooked perfectly, it has less sodium(810mg and I couldn’t finish the whole thing in one sitting so even better), and it was still delicious. The sauce on the side is what makes it though so don’t forget it! I usually get the regular beef bowl w/veggies but @ 1310mg of sodium, no bueno. Even if you only eat half that’s a lot for one meal. Plus the beef doesn’t look appetizing cause it’s sliced into these messy little shredded strips. This location has a drive thru!

I tired this place for the first time. I was not really impressed with the food. Food is ok if you like meat and or chicken over rice. The meat is stringy and a little fatty so some pieces were a little chewy. Rice is actually pretty good. It is a good deal for what it is. The facility looks like it could use a really good cleaning though.

When you’re with some folks that want Japanese, but they don’t like anything raw AND they are cheap and impatient… there’s only one choice… Yoshinoya!!! It’s been years since I’ve had Yoshinoya but it fit the bill this time. I got the large beef bowl. Thinly sliced somewhat seasoned beef served over a bed of rice. We got a side of the wings as well. Both were enjoyable. The restaurant is a generic fast food place like any McDonalds or BK other than having Japanese food on the menu. They put soy sauce and red pepper powder on the tables, but the red pepper powder is not spicy and more like paprika. I probably won’t repeat anytime soon until the next time I face a circumstance like what I mentioned above… then there can be only one… Yoshinoya!!! Stay sexy fellow Unilocalers!

Went to Yoshinoya today for the first time since it was close by to where I was at in CV… had seen it here before and it looked interesting, so I figured, why not! This place is pretty much like a Flame Broiler… basic rice, veggie, and meat bowls… which is usually a winning combination, so I got their beef and teriyaki chicken combo bowl. My husband got their fish plate. Also had to get a side of gyoza, those looked too good to pass up! A notable thing about their fountain drinks is they actually had fruit punch! Its hard to find a place that has fruit punch, I believe it was Tropicana or Minute Maid, or one of those brands… anyway, I was stoked! I got our order to go, and as soon as I got home we busted into the gyoza… those were great! Liked them a lot, and they also had a great ponzu sauce to go with them… yum! My husband really liked his fish plate, however my combo bowl left me somewhat disappointed… the beef tasted good, but it was really full of fat. Also the chicken was OK, but again, waaaay too much gristle. And the veggies were OK, but somewhat starchy. I guess it was acceptable, but definitely nothing to write home about. I would give it a solid«OK». I guess I shouldn’t expect too much since it seems like its on-par with other fast food chains, however next time I’m craving this type of food, I will just go to Flame Broiler instead!

I was craving Asian food the other day and since I was around the area, I decided to drive to Yoshinoya and get my fix. I have been here a lot when I was growing up and used to enjoy the food here. I pulled up to drive-thru thinking it wouldn’t take the long but I was wrong! I ordered the beef & teriyaki chicken combo meal that came with grilled veggies. I had to tell the worker 3 times what I wanted because the static made it hard to hear me. I paid total $ 6.02 for my meal. The drive-thru took so long that I heard 2 full songs before I was through. The worker handed me my meal and gave me extra ginger like I asked. When I got home, I was satisfied with my meal. It was a lot of food for $ 6.02. It’s not gourmet but it sure did fulfill my craving. I just wish the drive-thru didn’t take so long and that they would trim the skin off the chicken.
