I love everything about this place! I’m glad they opened an ale house in Chula Vista. They have a great selection of beers on tap from all my favorite breweries. On top of the great beers, they have menus from nearby restaurants, like La Bella’s, so you can order food and eat it at the ale house. They also have cool food trucks in the back almost every day; although you can’t drink on the back patio, it’s still great. I’ve heard from the employees, people are going to be able to drink outside soon though. I love the interior of the place and the employees are very friendly. what I love most about this place is that it’s right across the street from my boyfriend’s apartment!

I love this place because I love good fresh beer. The owners are local CV residents and are really friendly people. There are at least 29 beers on tap daily and a food truck in the back. This place is definitely evolving and you should stop by for some ales. All they need are a few more tvs and a hot phone to La Bellas!

Third Avenue Alehouse, I love you. Everyone I’ve introduced this place to loves it too. It’s just walking distance from my place so I can drink comfortably without worrying about driving home. The music they play is always on point. $ 7 for 16oz pours! My most favorite brews are the KS peanut butter cup and the that guava. YUM.

Great place. Great beers. Great location. Great employees. After living in downtown Chula Vista for a couple of months, it was great to finally see this ale house open. I went there once and was not disappointed.

Neat little place, simple, comfortable would like less ips more variety but still some good stuff. Not sure why everyone thinks ipas are so great but they’re are many other types of beer out there. Doesn’t feel like a bar which is nice. They have about 12 beers on tap.

So nice to have you in the neighborhood! Great for tasting — just need to work on the cozy vibe a bit more. It’s a good spot to grab a new brew or two. A food truck comes for grabbing bites.

I love this place, the beer selection is absolutely tremendous. Chula Vista needed a place like this 4 years ago. I’m glad its finally here, this place has knocked it out of park on the first pitch

I grew up in CV and know how much it’s been severely lacking in good beer choices at bars. So 3rd Avenue Ale House is long overdue. I found it to have a pretty cool minimalist feel to it. I know it’s still finding its vibe but the foundation is already awesome. The choices of beers are awesome and I always love trying new things. I loved it despite the fact that the back patio wasn’t opened yet because of licensing. But I know that’s coming soon(hopefully) so I wouldn’t I won’t dent the score for that. Next time I’m in CV I’ll definitely come back.

Good, but moderate selection of beers. Maybe add some saison or sours. I enjoy tasting new beers and drift away from the common rotationals. The atmosphere has a coffee shop feel and not much of a craft beer spot. Needs more stools at the bar and some type of art or visuals and maybe some games. I do love how you can choose tasters of anything, but I suggest lose the 14oz tier since you might as well get the 16oz pour and offer half pints(8oz) instead. Overall you’ll enjoy beers that you won’t see at your local bar. Cheers!

Chula Vista finally has a solid craft beer bar. That in itself is amazing and long overdue. They have 29 taps that are always rotating as well as the occasional beer on cask. Fair/competitive prices with a cool layout inside the bar. They are currently working on getting a license so that their customers are able to drink their beverages in the back patio. For the time being, everyone must consume their delicious beers from inside the bar. I can’t wait for this place to obtain that license so that I can drink on the patio while eating some food from one of the random food trucks that happens to pull up and park behind this establishment. Eventually this bar will get a 5 star rating from me but for the time being they are stuck at a 4 solely because no drinks are allowed on the back patio. Extremely happy that Chula Vista has a craft beer bar that is just as good as many of the places that sell craft beer in Northpark as well as many other places throughout San Diego county.

Awesome hang out! Great beer selection and lots of restaurants nearby to order from if you’re hungry or enjoy the daily food truck.

Unprofessional behavior and poor customer service. My wife and I met up with a group of friends for a birthday party around 11pm Saturday. Walking up the front door was open and unattended(not uncommon for a bar in cv, ID is usually checked at the bar). We greet our party and after a minute or two of conversing I head to the bar. Out of nowhere a «doorman» comes up from behind and tells me I have to leave, reason being we had to form a line outside?(door was open, unattended, no rope, sign, or stool which would have been a signal to wait outside) I asked why he was not at the front door and he said he was in the back making sure people were not sneaking in through the back door??? He also said we needed to wait outside because they were at max capacity… the bartenders were free when I approached and a couple open tables, yeah max capacity! ha We obliged and on the way out I told our group we were being kicked out, the«doorman» in a very very friendly tone responded by saying«Oh for that I’m not going to let you back in» so we left and may not return. Don’t be rude and unprofessional to customers when you get caught not doing the job you were hired to do.

Good: decent amount of beers at good prices when compared to mainstream restaurants. Bad: seating, theme and ambiance is exactly what? I know it’s new but they definitely need to work on setting a theme and place more seating and maybe matching chairs. standing and drinking is not a good mix especially when you have a chalice in your hands. Overall: it is a new place with decent beers, as of now 11⁄2015 it needs lots of improvement on still setting up. Hopefully when I return things are set up better

Great space, great beer, good times. Located on 3rd Ave. It’s a great location for locals & worth the drive to Chula Vista for visitors. We tried multiple SD beers & they were all outstanding. Knowledgeable friendly staff. A real Chula Vista gem, you will not be disappointed.

We have been waiting for this brew house to open and we were not disappointed. Love the Stingray double IPA from Coronado. I would recommend this place to anyone who loves beer and a laid back atmosphere. I plan to visit often to unwind after a long day of coding.

My husband and I have been there a couple of times! It feels like a «Cheers» hangout, and we love that it is locally owned! It’s just nice to drop into a place, stand at the bar and meet new people or sit around at a table with friends. And I am now getting quite the acquired taste for IPA’s! Look forward to the back patio being open to drink!

If you live in Chula Vista and need to quench your craft beer thirst, then Third Avenue Alehouse is the place to be. From the moment you walk in with its cozy rustic industrial décor, you are warmly welcomed and presented to the 29 beer tap list that is awaiting your taste buds. This location is in the heart of the downtown Chula Vista district — making it an ideal central meeting place for anyone who lives west of the 805 freeway or relatively close. The rotating tap list spans all across San Diego county from Chula Vista’s own Bay Bridge Brewing, all the way to Oceanside’s Legacy Brewing with their«That Guava Beer» currently on the board. While the low laden wood tables and barrels are comfortably convenient for the in house drinker, they also offer 22 oz bottles to go that match their tap list. This is something hard to come by with any establishment in general, let alone one that has a rotating list. One of my favorite highlights is that they offer tasters! Their sizes go from 4, 14, and 16 ounces. Be sure to talk to Mike and Kendall for excellent service and pours, and in case you were wondering — they also serve select local wine as well. Although they don’t offer food, there’s more than enough restaurants and eateries around that deliver here. If you’re looking to venture out and have a new«North Parky» or «Monkey Pawish» kinda feel without leaving Chula Vista, this is the place to be. Come on in, grab a taster or a pint, and visit Chula Vista for a long awaited and instant classic beer bar that doesn’t disappoint.

REALLY loved this place! Chula Vista needed this and the location is perfect! They have a great beer selection with 29 on tap, as well as a few different wines. The rustic décor is super cute and the staff were really welcoming. Definitely our new local spot to go grab some beers! The only downside is that when we got there, we had to wait to go in until two people left. This place is small! They have a back patio that is not open yet, but once it is it will add more seating options. We had to stand for a while until we got some seats. Standing sucks when you’re trying to chill. 4 ½ stars but I’ll give it 5 because it’s local! Overall, an awesome new addition to Third Ave and Chula Vista!

Quaint alehouse in a rustic setting with a full menu of hand-selected local craft beer from all San Diego County. Wonderful staff, clean, and a thriving social atmosphere. Chula Vista’s rotting Third Avenue is refreshed finally by a young, inviting location!
