Sweetwater Union High School District

If given two job offers take a job in another district. I have seen some of the most incompetent administrators. The board is not teacher friendly and is unwilling to listen. It’s nothing but yes men. It really is the «same old sweetwater union high school district». They won’t listen to logic. It really is an embarrassing group that upholds teacher bullying.

When I attend Bonita Vista High School and graduated in 2012 there was an ongoing investigation into the district officials over corruption pertaining to construction companies. I felt like that the district did not care about the well being of the students or community in general because the district lacked resources for students to advance like A.V.I.D. (Advancement via Individual determination). I was even president of the program in 2012, but was shut down in recent years due to budget constraints.

If I could give a zero start I would do it! 7^th and 8^th grader terrible experience. my Son’s rights where violated without any regrets and with all malicious intentions. after my student spent the last month on home hospital due of the complications/​offenses/​outrages that my son suffered at Bonita Middle School they decided to not give him the opportunity for at least participate on the social promotion ceremony. which I was informed three days before of the ceremony. but my son was invited by the case manager five days prior the ceremony. and they rejected him after.
in the end has many of you parents with special needs students know. they blame the parent and the student. which is the most ridiculous actions. after having iep’s over iep’s for two years. and you heard how «wonderful progress» «and successful» your student is doing.
my only suggestion is if you really are looking that your student whit special need can have a positive experience just be aware and don’t let your students on their hands.

I would highly encourage every parent to do a thorough reading on GOOGLE, paying particular attention to the Grand Jury Transcripts associated with what has been called ‘the largest case of corruption in San Diego history’. 4 of 5 current board members are facing trial on felony charges as are the previous superintendent and a former school board member. If you are concerned about how your school district spends your educational tax dollars and bond school improvement dollars, my opinion buy your home, rent your home in a different school district.

I am so frustrated at this point in time. I have experienced nothing but unprofessionalism and incompetence since my first encounter with student services at Bonita Middle. I have been trying to register my son for school for the past three weeks. I have called and left several messages. I received one return call with registration availability dates but when I called back to set up the date and time I had to leave a message. One week passes still no return call, I call back and actually had the luxury of talking to a live person. Needless to say I am given an appointment for the day after school starts! My son is going to have to miss the first day of school because someone in student services cant seem to get it together. I call down to Sweetwater Union school district to see if I can rectify this situation where I was told by the receptionist «the kids dont do much on the first day of school anyway.» She then transfers me to student service where I talk to another non-​helpful individual. I explain my situation to her and she tells me I need to call and talk to the principal of the school. Really? I hope after all of this is said and done that I do not experience this type of nonsense with the teacher and the remainder of the staff once the school year begins.

This school district is OK. If you want your kids to experience a stable educational environment, the schools in East Chula Vista & Hilltop High School fit the description. There are absolutely no excuses for kids to fail in these schools, especially since standards are pretty high.
The rest of the schools need much work. The school that is in «land of the lost» territory is Montgomery High School. Did this high school really take certain state money & promised to improve test scores, but failed miserably? Hilltop Middle has many little rude brats who think that they can talk back to teachers. Chula Vista Middle can’t control their O-​Room offenders who disrupt other students who actually want to learn. Mar Vista High School has students who are bold enough to look at teachers like scum & insult them with no hesitation. Castle Park Middle has way too many O-​Room offenders that ruin the learning experience for kids who actually want to learn. I could go on and on, but I’d be here for years.
A bright light of hope would be the improvements made with students at National City Middle & Granger. Kudos to the staff at both schools.
While this is no LA Unifed School District, many of the communities in this district need to get their educational priorities in check, especially the parents & their kids.

As one of the largest school districts, this district holds over 25 schools and thousands of students. A couple of the high schools have made top national lists and recognition. This is a great school district with lots of remodeling coming up soon at some schools, thank you to Prop O!
