Surf City Squeeze

Surf city squeeze is the best smoothie and snack place. The service is awesome. We have been going here frequently since they opened several years ago and have never had any problems or issues.

Crazy, this place is in the Great Steak place I said I would again never step inside. BUT I wanted a smoothie bad. This blueberry pineapple smoothie was calling my name so in I went. Same couple I complained about… man is OK, woman scowls while taking my $ 8.70 (!!!) for a large smoothie. Smoothie is OK but tastes like Peanut Butter is in it (which it should not be) — where did that flavor come from (wrong ingredient?, didn’t wash blender from last smoothie?), whatever, if I had peanut allergies, oh boy, would be a major problem. 2 stars since the smoothie was pretty good (not what I ordered)

I really do not understand the bad reviews of this place. As someone who frequently visits with my kids, I think the service is excellent. The couple who own the place are super friendly and accommodating but their quiet demeanor may give people the idea that they don’t care. Very untrue.
My only concern is that they do not seem to draw in a lot of business so I hope that doesn’t mean they won’t be around for long. As for myself and my kids, we plan to keep going back. I suggest any of you East Chula Vista residents give them a try too.

Surf City Squeeze originally only existed in Plaza Bonita Mall, but since I always go to the Starbucks on Proctor Valley, I noticed that there is a small location in this shopping center, as well. There is actually a stand at the North Island Naval Base, too.
This location is owned by a sweet, quiet Korean couple. I think they’d rather keep to themselves, or aren’t understanding of different personalities, therefore, they don’t offer the best customer service. Rather than giving off positive vibes, they expect to get them first, THEN they’ll be nice to you. Not how a business should be run, but I also feel bad for them.
Their eatery consists of Surf City Squeeze smoothies, boba, gyros, and Great Steak… I believe. The gyros are good, and I’ve always been a big fan of Surf City Squeeze smoothies. The strawberry, banana one is always my fav.

I would give this place ZERO stars if I could. I went in after having lunch with my 3 children, my sister, my niece & my cousin. We were fully ready to top off the wonderful meal we just had at the Thai restaurant next door w/​a smoothie/​boba drink. I had been here before & didn’t have good service or a satisfactory tasting smoothie but the children were attracted to the photos of ice-​cream & smoothies that were taped to the window. I thought I’d give them another shot. Upon entering, we were greeted by the same couple (owners?) that I recall from my 1^st visit over a year ago. That struck a weary cord as they had the same forced extra-​cheerful greeting I recalled during my last visit. I asked the older woman if she could let me sample her boba (I remember how mushy & over cooked it was last time but I didn’t say that). She instantly & very obviously became annoyed. Her answers to my questions were curt & her facial expressions were as if she was completely annoyed by my presence. I continued to TRY to «kill her with kindness» but it was too late, I obviously ruined her day by asking to sample the boba. Really!!! I almost offered to pay her for the 3 boba balls she gave me on a plastic spoon. I thought telling her that they were actually good & ordering a drink would bring her guard down but she never changed her demeanor. My sister was behind me & I turned to ask her what her order would be as well as my niece & she said, without me even saying a word to her, «No, I’m not going to order anything anymore. She’s obviously annoyed. I don’t want to patronize a place that is so rude.» I didn’t even bother ordering my children anything either. Seven of us walked in with the intention to purchase drinks & because of her poor attitude, we walked out with 1 drink. To be honest, the drink (honeydew blended) was so artificial tasting & watery. I threw it away after a couple of sips. I will never return to this place again. There are too many other businesses to get a better product and will give you better service than this place. Please spend your hard earned money where people actually appreciate your business.

I’m not sure what’s worse, the fact that the size I asked for vs got was wrong, or the fact that they use hoppy syrup looking stuff for strawberries in smoothies.
I was looking for something for breakfast, and got an over sweetened smoothy of the wrong size and without real fruit.

So this place is co-​located with a Surf City Smoothie shop. The owners are a nice Korean couple. they seem to work all the time. The smoothies are pretty filling and are a good meal replacement for breakfast or lunch. You can even get a scoop of «extra» like jamba juice (ie. ginseng, bee pollen, etc). They also serve boba here.

Have gone there to get smoothies since I dont want to drive to Jamba Juice to get my smoothie fix. The reason I give 1 star is because they basically did not honor their «buy 9 get 10^th free» smoothie card. The lady said it was ONLY valid for SMALL smoothie. No where on the card does it say it is exclusively only for a SMALL smoothie. All I wanted was to get a medium, and I always get a medium. === We even offered to pay the difference between the small and medium since the drinks were made already… She refused and said we have to come back next time and get our small drink then, despite having the card.
The lady there (Jane), was very rude, would not budge on the principles of the «get 10^th free» card and was very argumentative (even in front of other customers that were present). Surely, corporate Surf City Squeeze will hear about this incident because of the unprofessionalism and the lack of customer service.
On the card, the only text says,… «Not valid with any offer or discount. Limit one discount per visit. Free item limited to Fruit or Sweet smoothies only. Extras not included. No cash value.» Where does it specify that the free smoothie can only be a small???
