Mariscos La Perla Negra

The food is good! The customer service is ok! Wish they would show boxing fights! Overall a decent place if you like seafood!

It was a good restaurant, I just eat here and was a bad quality on the food. The governor tacos used to be wonderful but now comes with the skin of the shrimp, chile Pasilla and tomato skin too it was disgusting to chew.
Philadelphia shrimp it was tasteless.
The only delicious dish to me, was melted cheese…
Maybe they changed the chef, or have a substitute.

Driven by this place a few times, finally decided to try it out. Glad we did! First, be prepared, if you don’t speak Spanish, make sure you can at least point to the menu! Some of the entrees came with a hefty sticker shock, but we were there for lunch. I had the Gobernados taco and a shrimp enchilados taco, my wife had the coconut shrimp. The tacos were excellent! I tried one of the coconut shrimp, shredded coconut has never been a favorite of mine, but these were pretty darned tasty! Some kind of heated dark sauce with it, slightly sweet, slightly spicy, whatever it was, it was awesome! Mexican music (a little too loud) and two big screen TVs with Futbol on. Very casual, a little out of the way, but well worth the trip. The waiter was friendly, spoke very little English which was surprising at first. Took a moment to realize he had greeted us with «Sit wherever you like.!» Had the Flan for desert, doubt it was made on site, but it was still quite good.

Went to this place today, and I was more than disappointed. I ordered the camarones a la diabla, the sauce was terrible. It was salsa quemada, and it was literally burned. Huge pieces of burned chile and the chile skins were also big almost made me choke. The beans were good though. Not worth what we paid.

We were initially having a hard time deciding what to order, the waiter came out showing us some prawns they received, and telling us that the cooks can cook it to our liking. That’s fine and dandy, but homie was hovering raw seafood over our table. The condensation of the packaging or raw shrimp juices were straight leaking onto our table and potentially splashing into our complimentary chips and salsa. He didn’t have the decency to come back and wipe that up!!! Wth?! That was the first strike.
Strike two: We ordered a few rounds of Patron shots, but were deceived. The only reason why we found out that we were getting duped was because a member of our party approached another waiter on her way to the bathroom to order another round and he told her that they didn’t even have Patron. Our actual waiter tried to lighten up the situation and showed us the bottle of what he was serving us, trying to give us complimentary shots. I can’t even imagine how much he would have charged is for each shot had we not found out, thinking it was Patron! He admitted that they didn’t have some sort of license and were not allowed to carry Patron, or something. But why lie in the first place or not disclose that?!
Strike 3: I understand paying gratuity for A party more than 6… However, there was only 5 of us. I know the proper etiquette of tipping and I have many friends who work in the industry, so I feel that I’m a generous tipper. Apparently I didn’t give our server that vibe because he ended up writing in his tip amount/​total for us after our cards were swiped and we received our bills back to sign. WHO DOES THAT?!
Don’t waste your time with this spot. Food was mediocre, IMO, and a little overpriced for the quality of it. There are better places in the vicinity for mariscos with far better customer service, integrity, cleanliness, and proper liquor licenses.

Had tacos gobernador and they where small and no flavor, $ 3.95 per taco is expensive.
Won’t be coming back… better go to Mariscos el Prieto.

So I wrote my review as a tip on accident but it was just a horrible experience. the fact that they severed water down lemon-​aid and in a BROKEN glass. I love loud music but not to the point where the server i cant hear me. Worst part is she made me feel like if it was my fault that she couldn’t hear me. The food was not good enough for me to come back, because it was pretty bland.

Food is so so. Price if definitely way more then it should be!!! Service sucks!!! The waiter took forever to come take our order, asked us to move table after we had been seated for like 20 mins because he had a bigger party coming in, then we asked him the price of the buckets of beer he brought us a bucket of 8 without telling us the price which came out to 3.95 each beer :/​got mad because I asked him for a spoon for my baby, we only gave him a $ 4 tip he counted it in front of us and made a horrible face stormed off and saw us at the exit and gave us a horrible look!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!

I really am doing a update review because I gave this place another try for the fact that the food is good just not their service. But I’m glad to say that wow they actually made a big change in their service! Seen a guy working there sat us down right away and took our order right away too!!! How it should be!!! Checked up on us and our food was brought out fast and great. Needed a refill on my drink and sure enough the guy came right away and did it on his own. It’s crazy that I’m giving them props on how they should be doing it but I’m glad they are because I left my first time with a negative thought about this place. But agreed with all the other Unilocalers. Yes the first time was awful just the worst Service! Sad to see when people don’t care because then places like that get closed down. Didn’t see the same girls working there just seen the two guys that made a big difference! Left this time on a positive note! Great food great service! And had to make an update since I could see the difference! Unilocalers give this place another chance.

This place used to be really awsome when it was El Godoy’s. Food was more on point and the customer service was Great! Went in yesterday for some Camarones revolcados and Agua Chile with the family decided to give them another opportunity. In which I regret doing so, this will be the last time we ever dine in this place. Customer service sucks and food is not flavorful at all and their meal portions arn’t worth Your money!

Food is good. I came here after not coming for some time considering the fact that i used to come here with my dad at least 3 times a month for i dont know what reason (i did it to spend father-​son time). So i decided to take my wife one afternoon to get her opinion on it. We waited half an hour without even receiving drinks AND THERE WAS ONLY 2 TABLES BESIDES US. One table had 4 chicks drinking a bunch of beer and the other well wasnt a big party.

We dined here on Christmas Eve because our first and second choices for lunch were closed. My boyfriend loves this place, but we noticed the sign on the restaurant was different. the guy who took out order said that the menu hasn’t changed though. We ordered a shrimp dish we saw on Unilocal,our usual chicharon de pescado, and a pitcher of horchata. You get complimentary soup and chips with spicy salsa! The salsa was really good– he gave us extra chips too. There is only one guy working there, but he did a great job being a server, busser, and cashier. I’m guessing there was a change in ownership and possibly a new chef since I enjoyed the food more this time… By the way, they have live music here on the weekends!

Fui con mi abuelita a comer aquí por primera vez y pedimos ceviche de camaron, taco gobernador (me fascinan los tacos gobernador) y taco de pescado, nos dieron un consome que estaba dos tres, lo único que puedo decir es que la comida esta X estuvo comible pero nada riquisimo o que diga me muero por volver a comer alli, si alguien a tenido mejores experiencias pues que bien:).

What we like about this place is the leche de tigre. It’s too die for! ! And of course it’s super spicy but u can ask for the Chile to be put aside. It’s a one size only and it’s a cocktail served hot not chilled.
The service has always been great here for us. And our waiters /​waitress are nice. We have a toddler so when I order my kids food they bring hers first. They did this w/​o me asking so I thought that was thoughtful of them.

Took my dad for Father’s Day and I was not impressed the food lacked flavor and the tables were to closely set up, we ordered the aguachon. And it should be have a warning or something because It’s is extremely spicy!
