If you need fabric for your wedding dress, definitely check out this place before driving all the way to LA! By far the best bridal fabric location in San Diego. It’s a little hard to find as it is tucked off the highway in a series of storage warehouses, but look for the sign in section 1031.
The white wedding lace section is awesome! I looked everywhere in San Diego for high quality white lace for my custom made wedding dress. Most places I found had less than 5 options to choose from. Designer Fabric has an entire room of beautiful lace — French, beaded, floral, geometric, edging, ribbon– all in a range of colors and prices.
I went in on a Monday morning and had the entire warehouse to myself. I was helped by Lonnie. He looked over pictures of my dress design and directed me to the lace that would work. He was helpful and knowledgeable without being pushy. He collected several options for me and told me the pros and cons of each one. I ended up choosing a beautiful French lace (Darquer). Lonnie then helped me choose silk chiffon, silk charmeuse, and a lining for the rest of my dress. I was so grateful to have his advice and help. He really took care of me and made sure I was getting not only what I wanted, but something that would work well for my dress construction.
For $ 800, I left with 3 yards of French lace, 8 yards of silk chiffon, 6 yards of silk charmeuse, and 6 yards of lining. All of which he put on rolls and wrapped with plastic to keep it safe, organized, and clean. Should I be in need of fabric again, this will be my first stop!
Keep in mind, the warehouse is only open Monday and Thursday from 10am-​5pm and by appointment only on Saturday. It is cash only!

I searched all over San Diego and spent a whole entire day in the the LA Garment District looking for my wedding dress fabric until I stumbled upon this little Gem in Chula Vista. The store is easy to access from the freeway, very organized with a large section of jaw dropping wedding fabrics!
The owner Lonnie is a very nice gentlemen from New York, he asked me what I was looking for and helped me pick out a beautiful ivory silk charmeuse and an ivory bohemian lace for my dream wedding gown. I though it would be out of my price range due to the high quality of fabric but surprisingly fit my budget.
Designer Fabrics is also a supplier of fabrics for the Old Globe costume and wardrobe department.
Lonnie also has a beautiful array of fabrics from all over the world. I will be back to choose my fabrics for my tango costume :)

I admit they have «nice-​looking» stuff, but for what they’re worth is a total RIPOFF. The quality seems noticeably cheap. and I cannot believe they charge $ 100+ for beaded lace on cheap ass netting?! Get real. I would NOT pay that much and further, I’d rather drive up to LA for something that may cost that much but with way better quality and more variety.
Also, what store opens only on Mondays and Thursdays?! Some people like me work from 8 – 5 on weekdays. I wish I didn’t waste 3 trips out of this.
Again, just a TOTAL RIPOFF.

Designer Fabrics is only open on Monday & Thursday now. Call to make sure. Fabulous place for reasonable prices on bridal or formal laces, fabrics and trims. Staff is very friendly and fluent in Spanish.
Cash only… bring lots it’s a tempting place.
Even if you aren’t getting married you should check them out. Gorgeous silks and unusual embroidered pieces that are gorgeous! You never know what they will have. Worth the trip!

great people, lots of bridal lace. They will give you good discounts too. It is not located on Broadway though. It is now located on 1031 Bay Blvd. 91 911. I learned that the hard way. Must pay cash. Only open two days a week.
