On Sunday May 29, 2016 my wife and I stopped off here while on our way to Asheville, NC. Alas, the visit didn’t go so well and we walked out in a poor mood after just two tastes of some white wine. I won’t go into the details, but don’t worry, that’s not the end of the story, else why would I award White Barrel four stars. The rest of the story is how I wrote a letter detailing what happened to us and how the owner wrote back. He not only wrote back, he wanted to know more so he could discern not only what happened, but why it happened, so it won’t happen again. And then we met him in our home town, Boston MA, had a great conversation, and he gave us two bottles of wine. Having tried the wines, at least the whites, I can say they are great. Having met the owner, I can tell you he is committed to customer service and is dedicated to wine. Having been to the vineyard and tasting center, I can say it is attractive, well maintained, and has friendly employees. BTW, the owner is also a microbiologist. Now there’s a guy who must understand zymurgy! So, should we ever get down to the Christiansburg area again, we definitely plan to visit White Barrel again. I suggest you, dear reader, consider visiting as well.

What a great winery! We started with the dry flight tasting. Charles was very descriptive on each glass, providing insight and history to help show us the subtle differences the wines. Would suggest reservations on weekend nights. The restaurant was completely booked for both Friday and Saturday nights. We look forward to our next visit!

One of my favorite places to go to hang out. I recommend getting a cheese and meat board. Be sure to taste all the wines, some of the sweet ones are way too sweet but their award winning wine is awesome. The atmosphere is great, especially when they have live music

We walked in early and Jeane met us and made us feel right at home. We had a great sample of their wines and then a flight of half-glasses to enjoy our favorite three. They have a nice restaurant and the lunch menu was varied and very reasonably priced. I had the charcuterie board… very nice. This is a new name but the owners are still there and the place is still charming and unpretentious. They have a nice variety of wines for different pallettes. Enjoy this winwry… we did!

We went to the Whitebarrel Winery for New Years Day. Despite its very surprising location, it is quite the catch. The entrees were good as well as the tapas. The sangria, was very quality and cheap for the quality. The staff was very attentive to all the customers despite being busy. The manager(possibly owner) came by and asked how we were doing, which is always a great thing. I will definitely be coming back for some wine tasting in the summer.

So what is called when everyone in the place is asked if they need anything else, but not you and when you go to the counter 3 times, the 2 people behind the counter leave each time you get there? Well that is what happened at white barrel winery(used to Attimo) at 4025 Childress Rd, Christiansburg, VA24073. It seemed that only one person had time to wait on us when we asked, but not asked. Regardless we still had a good time but will never return.

I was working in the area and I found Attimo while looking for wineries in the area. The tasting room is next to the vineyard and is very cosy. They have a few small plate food selections and deserts. The wine tasting is not very expensive and the wine is great. They have a wide variety of wines. They grow most of their grapes. They do have some blends that they use grapes from other vineyards. It is a relatively young vineyard and they are still growing. I defiantly recommend this winery if you are looking for a quality wine.

We were visiting for the weekend for a college tour and to celebrate our anniversary. Visiting this winery was a wonderful discovery. The wine was very good and the service was excellent. It was $ 5 for 8 tastings and only a $ 1 extra for their select(reserved) wines. $ 3 for the glass to take home. They also offer a wonderful tapas selection and we recommend the meatballs. Our favorite out of the selection was the Aviatior.

My hubby and I went because friends recommend the winery as a date night. We enjoyed the wine tasting. We got the cheese platter. The atmosphere is relaxed and pretty. It isn’t necessarily quiet. There is some outdoor seating. I’d love to see them add on more seating outside and arrange/landscape it to provide more intimacy. All in all a good experience.

Wines were not for me. Did the tasting & left without buying anything. Atmosphere was nice(reason for the 2nd star).

I may be a bit biased in my opinion of this winery, but I will take you through all of my experiences with Attimo. First, my husband(then boyfriend) and I stumbled upon Attimo when they first opened and had tastings out of a living room. We were impressed by the taste, variety, and care that was put into all of the wines. We both left with a bottle and knew that we would be back. A year later, my husband had proposed, and we were looking for a wedding venue. We both knew that we wanted to be married in a winery, as we had grown as a couple during our wine tasting adventures. We stopped by Attimo’s newly built tasting room(which is beautiful) and discussed the possibility of having our wedding there. Melissa and Rik were so helpful and had all the information we could possibly asked for. We booked our wedding at Attimo for March 2013. During the year of planning, Attimo was so patient and helpful, and they made our special day so wonderful. The wines are delicious, the atmosphere is laid back, and the people are phenomenal. If you are looking for a place where you feel like a friend and not a customer, look no further! Attimo is the place for you. My husband and I recently moved to California, and we continue to be a part of Attimo’s Wine Club just to get the delicious Virginia Wine. We make it a point to enjoy a tasting or a glass when we come back into town for a visit. Make sure you try the food too. It is delicious.

I love Attimo, it’s a great casual laid back atmosphere with great wines. They have various events here and a great outdoor seating area. Their food is delicious as well, a must go if you are in the area.

This is an extremely new winery, rapidly gaining popularity in the region. They feature exceptional wines, given the youth of the vines. The property is surrounded by Southwest Virginia farmland, but has beautiful vineyards surrounding the Tasting Room. The prices at Attimo are just slightly higher than others in the area, but the friendly staff and quality of product make them reasonable. Attimo Winery is a fun place to visit with a small group of friends in the late afternoon on a sunny day. I would recommend first doing the tasting inside, taking your time to enjoy the flavors of the varied wine types. Follow this by opening a bottle of wine and ordering one of their paired appetizers, to be enjoyed outside on their patio, overlooking the vines. Finally, pick up a couple bottles to take home with you — fantastic for casual evening dinner or dessert wines. Fun winery located conveniently close to Blacksburg and the Virginia Tech Campus. Still small and comfortable, providing a casual-but-classy personal atmosphere. I highly recommend regular visits to those in the Blacksburg /Christiansburg area.

Less of a tastingroom, more a «neighborhood hang», the only thing I found remarkable about this winery was the friendliness of the staff. Let’s start with the wine: thin on body, sometimes oddly bitter, and while the back page of the menu outlines all the accolades which the different wines have won in the region, none of them stood out. I think the rose with smoky notes was okay, but i found the chardonnay undrinkable. The ambiance– community center meets your neighbor’s living room. I felt like most of the customers were townies who were looking to get out of the house. As for food, the menu was very limited. This could be due in part to it being the holiday week. My final gripe: most wineries that i have been to will deduct the cost of your tasting from any bottles purchased. I didnt see this advertised anywhere nor did our waitress mention this to us when she came to our table(something else i found odd– the fact that we were seated at a table). Overall, it is a conveneint location which i appreciated and hopefully with age and experience this young winery’s wine improves.

Solid winery, about a year old, in the soon-to-be-booming(so we were told) Virginia Tech area AVA(makes sense as VT has a popular viticulture program). The location, set amongst a few McMansions, reminded us more of a spot in Loudoun County, but that’s splitting hairs. The wine was terrific(no surprise as some of the grapes are made into product by Michael Shaps). The tasting experience is sit-down, which is a nice touch(and unlike some other Virginia wineries, you’re not required to order a food plate for the sit-down tasting). Wines are brought out one by one, sometimes by the owner/winemaker himself(Rik Obiso) or his wife(Melissa). The stand-out white was the Yesterday’s Song Chardonnay, slightly oaked but dry and smooth. As for the reds, all were very good to excellent, particularly the Chambourcin and Cab Franc. Funny how some Virginia spots are exceling at red over white. They have a fireplace that they use in the winter, but not many spots for outdoor seating(more umbrellas for the outside tables please). Prices are good; compared to new wineries in Northern VA, an absolute steal for some!
