One of my all time favorite places in the NRV. Everything is fresh and delicious! Whether you come in for a baked goody or a meal, you can’t go wrong. The tomato soup is beyond amazing! We only buy our birthday cakes from this bakery now!

Great and beautiful food. I would love to have something caterer from here one day. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. I tried the muffaletta and a mini chocolate mint cupcake. Great price $

It was time to eat and we were just passing through town and decided to Unilocal for something to eat. Came across this quaint café’ and decided to give it a try. We didn’t want fast food burgers and this place was everything we wanted. Great food, quaint atmosphere and reasonably priced. A must try if you want something other than a burger. Amazing sweets too.

We stopped for lunch on a road trip, just looking for quick sandwiches and found this place on Unilocal. The display case of bakery items looked pretty amazing but unfortunately we didn’t try any. Out of the four sandwiches we ordered, all four were«meh» and the chicken and dumplings did not impress either. Just pretty much plain meat and bread while I look for some fresh lettuce or avocado or onion, maybe goat cheese, possibly some roasted red peppers or chipotle mayo on something. Come on, just give me a little thrill! Also disappointing was cleanliness(it’s unsettling to look down at the baseboards and see years of filthy accumulated grease splatter and dust – how clean can the kitchen be?!). Seating had a cute retro vibe but turned out to be extremely awkward and uncomfortable. At least the bathroom was clean. Would not go back.

My husband and I visited Mockingbird Café after a very tough and stressful move. After we dropped off our u-haul, we found this café and it was like being welcomed home. Hot food, great coffee and extremely kind staff. I almost cried. We were welcomed by Mandy who made us feel right at home. What a wonderful gem we stumbled on and it meant even more to us being new to the area and all. It’s become our little haven. We try to go as often as we can. Every time we go the staff is awesome and the food is amazing. I highly recommend it but I also want to say THANKYOU to everyone at Mockingbird Café.

Great hole in the wall place located downtown Christiansburg. Food is fairly priced. Great place to get Sunday brunch. Not good for large groups.

Great spot! We were passing through and decided to stop for lunch. So glad we did. The caprese sandwich was delicious as was the citrus cookie!

4.5! Cute space, good sandwiches, really good soup, really really good chocolate meringue pie, which we had to take to-go, as we were too full to eat with lunch. Pleasant, friendly staff. It’s worth a return visit when we are back in town. Don’t be fooled — the entrance is on Franklin, not Main Street! We had to call them to find it.

We go here often. Little local place with good food and small menu. The cupcakes can be dry so ask when made before buying. The warm bowls change daily and are filling. Peanut butter and preacher cookies are the best! The decorated cakes look beautiful. Not much seating so call ahead for«to go» order and enjoy!

Great breakfast menu. Got wonderful biscuits with gravy, eggs and bacon. Bacon was delicious with a little crisp. Christmas décor and music was nice. Also walked out with a fresh cinnamon roll. Local town feel. Great stop on a long road trip.

Whilst traveling in the not so Deep South, living in my van for a few days, the AC broke. I got off the highway in the worst heat of the day seeking refuge, and just DROVE looking for any friendly spot. I accidentally found this charming friendly little place because I was turning around. Of course when I walked in there were three other hippy travelers feeling out of place and finding some quinoa flavored home in this little slice of good taste. I had a strawberry buiscuit and was allowed to cool off in the AC even as they were closing shop. Wonderful.

Sure the Mockingbird Café is a no frills kind of place, but it’s really charming. Inside the café is warm and bright with a wide variety of baked good that are all so tempting. We ordered the biscuits and gravy and french toast. The biscuits were buttery and held up well with the gravy. I loved the french bread – it was like a cinnamon roll/french bread hybrid(so tasty). I will say that the coffee was very… «meh»(stop by Idego Coffee for the good stuff).

This place is so yummy! I have yet to be disappointed when ever I eat here. My absolute favorite thing they make is their Mockingbird cupcake. It is a spin on Hummingbird cake and oh so delicious! They staff is always friendly and accommodating. I have also been lucky enough to try a sample of the specialty cakes they make when I attended a bridal convention. Highly, highly recommend. They only reason I wasn’t able to give five stars is because this place gets packed around lunch time and the café is so small there just aren’t enough tables and chairs to go around.

Nothing fancy but solid breakfast items and friendly service. Excellent bread and bakery items. I wish they had a nice espresso machine.

Don’t expect any frills, anything fancy. It’s good cooking at an affordable price, with an adorable space. While staying in Blacksburg for a game, we searched for a place that had a decent breakfast. We called ahead and made sure they could accomodate us, and they obliged! I think that my group of 8 overwhelmed them a bit, this doesn’t exactly have«restaurant» seating like you’d think. I’d say max occupancy is no more than 20 as far as seating. Our food took a while to come out, and it was sporadic. The two people at our table who ordered the fresh pepperoni rolls, and had their food a fair 35 minutes before the rest of the food had been served. The baked goods were EXCELLENT, but if you don’t have a sweet tooth, don’t bother with most of them. I got a turkey club sandwich, which was great, but it was the last thing to come out. Everybody was ultimately satisfied with our food, and I do realize that all of it was made from scratch, but it just seemed like they were understaffed for the requests that we gave them. Which is probably our fault for wandering into a small shop with a larger group. Oh well. If I end up there again with a smaller group, then I wouldn’t hesitate to try this place out for lunch.

This places showcases the very best of Christiansburg — great people making great things! Some of my favorite eats there include ham and cheese croissants, preacher cookies and almond cake. You can just taste the love and care that goes into the food. It’s one of my «must do» places when visit Christiansburg. Locally owned and awesome.

Good Turkey Club second time I have been here. Only suggestion I have is to work on appearance. Not bad, but doesn’t compliment the food quality. Next time I will try tea and scones.

We enjoyed this little gem along our travels. A quiet little spot right in the downtown of Christiansburg. I recommend getting there early if a biscuit is what you crave as it seems they go fast. They’ve got a nice variety of baked goodies of which a few were gluten free and/or vegan as well. A nice looking quiche was in the glass display but we decided on scrambled eggs and bacon. The eggs were light and fluffy, perfect. Coffee offered was fresh, organic and fair trade. I was tempted by the cookies but we grabbed iced chai teas instead, which could be made with soy or cows milk. The chai flavor was delicious! For a quaint café the prices were easy on the wallet and we would probably swing by again if we were around the area.

I’d steer clear of this place. The food I had there was somewhere between bad, and«not good». The pictures of the food here are definitely glamour photos — not representative of reality. Short version: Bad food, nasty sandwich, overpriced. I ordered a simple Muffaletta sandwich. It came with chips. The sandwiches are all pre-made, sitting in a little drink cooler, wrapped in plastic wrap. I ordered and she asked«for here or to go». I responded«for here» — expecting her to unwrap the sandwich, maybe warm it up, and put it in a basket. Nope — the only thing«for here» gets you is a basket instead of a bag. For $ 7, I got a tiny, limp, cold sandwich. On top of that, it wasn’t even good — The bread was hard, thick, and über dense. I couldn’t eat it. The meat was just some storebought lunchmeat, and the olive salad was super bland, and there was almost none of it. I paid $ 7 for some thick slices of bread and some flavorless mush. The chips were good — but they were from a bag. I can’t tell if they make anything here besides the cupcakes, and to be fair — I did not try the cupcakes — perhaps those are wonderful. However, if you’re looking for a lunch, steer clear.

We stopped in to Mockingbird for lunch during a road trip up I81. It was a little hard to find with the GPS, but only about a mile from the interstate, and well worth the trip. The sandwiches and baked goods were delicious. We tried the chicken salad, the egg salad, and the veggie wrap. We liked them all, although the veggie wrap was pre-made, and the wrap itself was pretty soggy as a result. Overall, we would definitely recommend this café’

Very pleasant surprise. I’ve had this bookmarked for a while to try and had even been told it was good. However I delayed going for some reason. Maybe because coffee shops have a poor record of staying in business in Christiansburg(my opinion). Why didn’t I go sooner?! It has a relaxed charming atmosphere. Wifi availability. Moderate size menu. And very friendly staff. The food. I got the Caprese. A panini with tomato, mozzarella and pesto. I don’t like pesto so I asked for extra mozzarella. Fully expecting shredded mozzarella, I awaited the food with tepid anticipation. But surprise! REALFRESHMOZZARELLA! Goooood. Hubby got the rueben which was also right on point. The food was just great. The real test will be next time when I get coffee… But until then I’m glad to have found my new favorite coffee shop in town.

It was amazing to find somewhere with vegan/allergy friendly option on the road just a little ways off the highway. We called in a takeout order and the lady was not only polite but friendly. Placing our order was quick and easy and it was ready when we arrived. The bagels here are amazing! After one bite we had to turn around to get more for later on our trip. Hope to pass through here again soon so we can stop by here again.

I once came in for an iced coffee, but they were out. They recommended the iced chai and Oh My Goodness, I dream about that chai. I also ordered my daughter’s birthday cake from here – dense, moist, and buttercream to die for.

I work a block away and did not get in here until the last three weeks. I’ve had the reuben and the jerk pork sandwich. Both were excellent, but the pulled jerk pork was wonderful. I’ll probably become a regular. They make chocolate chip cookies that rival the best I’ve had. The restaurant is clean and homey and is surprisingly quiet given its proximity to the street. I need to find an excuse to have breakfast here.

I had the biscuits and gravy and the biscuit sampler. The biscuits and gravy were different for me. I’m used to sausage but this was beef. Different doesn’t mean bad because these were really good, very flavorful! The biscuit sampler was definitely the highlight, wow! Blueberry, peach and strawberry biscuits — they were all unreal good. On top of all the delicious and delicious looking treats available to woman working that day was so, so friendly. This might be a staple for my frequent trips from SC to CT. I highly recommend this place! It’s easy to pass on the street so look for a small yellow awning.
