If you are ever in Chillicothe, Ohio this is a must. They have some of the best food around and the service is great. Will eat here everytime I have to go to the VA clinic here. Just great.

I drove down from Columbus to meet someone for dinner. It was definitely worth the drive and Look forward to returning at some point. The food is clearly all done in house. I got the rib and brisket combo. Sadly they had already run out of the smoked baked potato for the evening.:(. I’m guessing thats a testament to how good they are. I ordered the slaw and mashed potatoes. Both were very good. The slaw had large chunks of cabbage and was not swimming in dressing. It was crisp and tasty. The cornbread was very very moist. Almost wet. I was very well blended and a great consistency even if a little on the less dense side. The ribs were outstanding. I think they finish them after smoking because they had a bit of light char on them. Their sauces are homemade too. Great BBQ. If you’re in the area. Go here. Also a really decent selection of craft beers. I went with Jackie O’s Mystic Mama from Athens.

Stopped by off the road and it was totally worth it. If you’re ever driving through Chillicothe(sounds like shitty coffee), try it out. We tried the pulled pork and brisket platters. The brisket was excellent and the pulled pork quite good too. We grabbed the Mac & cheese(homemade recipe), corn casserole, steak fries, and the sweet potato fries, which were all tasty. They make their own sauces: sweet and spicy sweet. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. There is patio seating(sorta outdoors).

Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. Based on Unilocal reviews I had the brisket and ribs with corn casserole and the reviews didn’t lie! It was terrific and I loved their sweet and spicy bbq sauce so much we bought one to take home. I don’t usually get dessert but after hearing a nearby table say that the peanut butter pie was truly amazing we decided to try it and again it was so good we got a slice to go so our son could try it! We will definitely eat here again!!!

Sat out on the shaded patio traveling from NC to Chicago. Pro tips: the smoked brisket, corn casserole, & green beans with sweet tea were perfect. Worth the brief side trip off the highway. Really good beer menu(although we didn’t partake since we were driving.)

So searching Unilocal while in town on business and Old Canal was at the top of the heap. Expense account in hand? Oh hell yeah I’m in. Went with a co-worker and were quickly seated. The smells from the kitchen were intoxicating; there is nothing better than the smoky smell of barbeque.(The following day when the weather warmed you could smell the place driving from two blocks away.) Ordered up a cup of brisket chili, a platter of brisket and pork, mac and cheese, and green beans. All I can say is wow. The brisket was absolutely fall apart perfect with great flavor. I’ve had better pork but it was still very good. The green beans were very tasty but the star here was the mac and cheese… wow. Individually baked in a bowl with bread crumbs. Texture, flavor, and everything a good mac and cheese should be. What a great meal… will definitely be stopping back another time in the future.
