Ordered Chicken Spinach Wrap and Rueben sandwiches. Corn beef very tender. At a table next to us they ordered the stuffed green pepper. It was the size of Rhode Island!!! Have to come back to order that dish. Very reasonable for the quantity and better yet quality. Good service.

Bernie’s is one of those places you hear about a lot from friends and family because of their«huge» portions. The portions are very large, the prices are very reasonable. Bernie’s is a good for what it is, but it is nothing special and there are plenty of area’s that could change to make this worth the hype. Waiting for 30 – 45 minutes with a very disorganized staff is common in my two visits here, and plenty of times there were empty booths that sat unclean. I won’t bash Bernie’s too much, the food is good, not great, and that’s what you would expect with the portions at this price. Bernie’s is a great local diner, but not worth going to if you’re visiting the area.

Have only been here for breakfast. I had the eggs Benedict and it was amazing. My husband had the eggs and steak he liked it but complained the steak had a lot of fat. Love this place because it does not break your pockets prices are great. And eating inside an old train cart is even better.

I ate here on a Tuesday morning with some of the Marines I work with. We were the first customers and promptly had drinks but the food orders came out kind of slow. I had and omelet that was not cooked well with home fries that tasted awful. This was the second time I had eaten here and wanted to give them a second chance and it was even worse than the first time. I’ll never eat here again nor will I recommend anyone else does. Lackluster service and god awful food!

I was in the area for business and desperately needed to get out of my hotel room one evening. A little Unilocal research later, I was on my way to this local gem. The most noticeable thing is the charming train car that comprises part of the restaurant’s seating. I was thrilled to be seated in the train car(how cool!) and settled in to review the extensive menu. There were so many things that looked unusual and delicious from the Unilocal pics but I went with a choice that ended up influencing far more than just dinner. French Meat Pie(Tourtier) is delicious spiced ground meat in a flaky pie crust and smothered in brown gravy. I chose mashed potatoes and beets(BEETS!) as my sides. The pie was like nothing I’d tasted before, the spicing a little like mincemeat but with actual meat rather than the assortment of fruits and such. Totally amazing and a dish that had me raving for days. The service and experience at Bernie’s was great but OMG the food. I did eye a few dishes arriving at other tables and the baked pastas and fish looked incredible too! My coworkers were a little mystified at my excitement. One had actually grown up in Chicopee and informed me that every family, including her own, had their own family version of Touritier and she ate it all the time growing up. I sort of imagined how I’d look if someone discovered meatloaf for the first time and was all enchanted! However, let me tell you MA natives — no one in Texas or Florida grows up eating Québécois cuisine. Wild boar tamales, mequite smoked BBQ, and classic southern fare like grits and sausage gravy — yes. French meat pie — no(So EXOTIC!). My visit to Bernie’s was SO memorable, that I started researching recipes when I got home and introduced my family to the magic of French Canadian meat pie goodness at Christmas(they LOVED it). Bernie’s is #1 on my list for places I’ve got to go back to next time I need to visit headquarters.

The food at Bernies is amazing. Fresh and plentiful. That’s where the positive aspects of this restaurant stops. Our party of 5 had reservations for 4:30 pm. The restaurant policy is clearly posted that parties must be complete before seating. We’ll our party was complete, and we were not seated until 5 pm. Their reservation policy is a joke. You and your party must be available to be seated, but the hostess/owner will let you stand and wait to be seated until a table opens. No apologies, no updates, nothing. Not good business practice. Not to mention the hostess/owner has the personality of a zipper. She never smiles, is rude and treats customers as if they are doing HER a favor frequenting her establishment. What ever happened to customer appreciation? Our waitress was wonderful, which saved our meal. Visit Bernies if you like good food, but are OK with your reservation not being honored.

MONSTEROUSPORTIONS! I kid you not! All at a reasonable price also! I’ve recently went this past weekend and found it to be very busy although the wait time for us was short since we made reservations. I’ve seen so many things on the menu that I wanted, especially the Baked Seafood Platter. I don’t think that’s what it was called but it had jumbo stuffed which definitely caught my eye from those around me at other tables! BUT, I came for one thing and one thing only. The Conductor’s Cut!!! Yes, that is their biggest cut of prime rib, and I can say that I almost finished it! Had about 8oz left on my plate but just couldn’t do the rest. For such a large cut off meat(56oz) it was quite tasty and cooked well to my liking. Overall, this has been fun experience and I hope to get back to Bernie’s soon again. I highly recommend this place to all those looking for a night out to eat.

This place is very popular for a reason. It delivers on its promise of good food for a very reasonable price. My girlfriend had a Flintstone piece of prime rib(the middle sized piece). I had fried clams. They were both good, and too much for a normal human to eat. We made reservations to sit in the train car. Service was prompt and so was the food. It was fun. It was more than filling. The clams were better than I expected. Filling food in a train… I would go back. Don’t expect to be dazzled. It’s just decently priced, decent food, on a train. Comfy though.

Great meal. Wife had the Prime rib«Caboose» cut. It was the smallest piece you could order and it was the biggest piece I have ever seen served! Only issue is that only one female or male can use the restroom at a time. Too many people for only one bathroom.

The baked stuffed shrimp were the best i have ever had loaded with real crab meat stuffing and my daughter had the fish and chips moist and delicious so big a portion she could not finish it! I would make this a weekly stop if i didn’t live in florida. The baked seafood plate with shrimp, scallops and fish that went to another table almost made me change my order. I don’t think you can go wrong ordering anything on the menu and I am jealous of those of you who can go there on a whim.

Stopped here because I was in the area. It is a cute little diner with food that is just ok. The sauce that came with the mozzarella sticks was ice cold but the sticks themselves were piping hot so go figure. My chicken tender platter was good but nothing special. The chicken was very fresh and certainly not frozen which I appreciated. Our waitress Theresa was very sweet and attentive.

Stopped in for lunch, ordered turkey rice soup and whole belly clam sandwich. Soup was salty and not hot enough but had a good flavor. Sandwich was outstanding. Loaded with tender clams that were not sandy at all and very sweet. Service was outstanding. Definitely will return.

One of my all time favorites. I make excuses to travel to that area from California just to eat there and have been for more than 15 years. You can’t beat the prime rib/baked stuffed shrimp combo. You’ll probably have to wait for a table, but it is worth it.

You just can’t compare prime rib here to anywhere else. If their side dishes were better this would be an easy 5 stars. It’s that good. I get the middle cut at 27.50 and feeds me for like 3 days with leftover beef. Seafood is quite good as well if you are unfortunate enough to be there when they ran out of prime rib. Salad is fresh and good greens not just cheap iceberg like many places. I just love this place ! Nice service always too.

A definite hole in the wall place but a great one. I wouldn’t suggest it for a large group of people because there aren’t large tables to accommodate everyone, we went with a group of 12 people and had 3 booths, which was difficult to communicate with everyone. The prime rib potions were huge!

I love this place especially and mainly for their prime rib and scallops!!! Every single time! The quantity is huge huge huge. The quality is fantastic the scallops I get broiled and they’re perfect. The prime rib is juicy cooked perfect and is humongous we get the largest size and Share it and it’s just fantastic! I highly recommend this place when it is busy they do run out of the prime rib sometimes. So go on and off time. The sides are OK. But the meat and seafood blow the sides out of the water so it makes up for it bar none!!! And it is a really fun place to eat especially with the kids as they have a whole section that is set up on an actual train and it’s just so fun to do with the kids it’s like a little experience

They get 5 stars not because they have the best food, but because they have great food served in a great atmosphere. Plus it’s really cheap. This place, to me, really screams«great Americana.» I got eggs Bennedict with home fries. My girlfriend got a basic breakfast of eggs, sausage and home fries. Everything is cooked to a perfect level of comfort. Seriously, this is comfort food to the max. And you eat it in an old railroad car. What’s not to like? Are they the best? No. The home fries are seasoned perfectly, but they could use some crisp. The service is a little slow. There’s not a great selection of tea, and the coffee is nothing special. But for the price, and the delicious feeling of ‘Merica! This place is well worth a stop. Every Sunday.

Bernie’s seems to be one of those restaurants where people congregate for family functions like birthdays, anniversaries, etc. It is always crowded and super busy, and even if you make reservations you are stuck waiting in this little claustrophobic area with 25 other people trying to get a seat. The atmosphere is that of a general diner, however there’s an old train car attached that you can eat inside of. That’s something you don’t see everyday! The food is a step up from the normal diner-style selection. The portions are huge, especially the prime rib. Unless you are Sasquatch, you will be eating it for days. The lobster Mac and cheese off the specials list was delicious, and it was even better than the one I had gotten at a ritzy Italian restaurant one week prior. The service is extremely rushed. Part of me was frustrated that our waitress was always frazzled, short, and still talking to us as she had already begun to walk away. The other part of me sympathized with her, she looked stressed and overworked. At two points of the meal we complimented her for«working her ass off» but she never said anything, as she was already five steps away. Maybe we caught her on an off night, because she seemed really nice. Overall 4/5, would come back but will definitely make reservations next time around!

If I lived in the area, I would eat here all the time. The way that they set up the dining compartment is very charming, but enough about that, let’s get to what everyone raves about;their Prime Rib. If you appreciate a well made Prime Rib, this is the place to go. The meat was perfectly tender and not salty which I appreciate. As sides I got French fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw was good, but the fries were forgettable which is probably not such a bad thing when you consider that the main focus should be that beautiful Prime Rib. Someone in our party ordered the fishermans plate and let me tell you that they know how to prepare seafood. The breading was light so that it’s the seafood that shines through, and most importantly you can tell it was fresh. Service was good, our drinks were always filled, all that jazz. Really wish we had something like this back home, but if I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely be back.
