When I picked up my white mocha it had foam on the top(I really dislike foam), and to be honest my first thought was it was someone else’s order, so I asked the man making them, if mochas had foam on top because I had only ever seen whipped cream before. I should note I am in no way an expert here, I’ve only ever ordered mochas, I’ve never made them. His response was, «well have you ever had them here?» Then he turned back around to continue his work. Naturally I was frustrated, but I left, I had things to do. But my point of this whole review is customer service. This is not by any means an inexpensive place. I don’t mind paying extra for good products and service, but you know what, the mocha was OK, but the service was rude. I can think of at least a dozen different ways he could have replied to my question politely. And well, yes, if you work up front, customer service IS your job. I’m getting tired of people forgetting that. When I got home I looked up info on mochas because now I was curious. Maybe the past 20 years of ordering mochas and getting whipped cream on top had deluded me into thinking that’s how they were made. And then I came across this post from a Barista. «Don’t hesitate to bring it back to us if it doesn’t taste right. You should get what you want, and if you’re polite no one will mind remaking it for you. We’ll still do it if you’re rude too… but being nice is cool.» And really, that comment said it all for me. THAT is good customer service. So while the food at Tin Roof is good, I would not recommend this place because this is my second time getting less than polite customer service and I’m one of those weird people who has no desire to patronize a place that doesn’t mind taking my money, but won’t take the time to be nice. 1.13.16 Since this review, the barista who I spoke of earlier has emailed me to apologize, and offer better service. Honestly I’m impressed he took the time to write and explain. I truly believe everyone deserves second chances, and if a business is willing to go the extra mile to keep customers and keep them happy, I’m definitely willing to try them again. The actions they’ve already taken so far have bumped my review up a couple stars. Here’s hoping next time I can give it 5.

Great choices of pastries and breads, I really enjoy the cheesecakes and tarts. The croutons are good and the granola mix as well. My absolute favorite though would be their cronuts mmmmm ½ donut ½ croissant –need I say more ???

Tin Roof is an excellent place to enjoy a latte. Every time I come into this place, all of the staff are friendly, they almost always get my order correct and if they make the simplest mistake they are quick to offer a free drink card. Their espresso is delicious and the shots are made with detail and care. I highly recommend Tin Roof for anyone who is searching for quality espresso. Also, the bakery items are delicious. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because I feel the atmosphere could have a little bit more ambience. Other than that this place is a catch !

Good bakeries are always a good thing to stumble upon when you are on a major road trip. But a good bakery that ALSO serves excellent pour-overs using locally roasted beans(Great State Coffee Co.) and that has a light, airy, and serene space in which to sip, to nibble, to crumble, to collapse silently into your seat as the road dust starts to settle … Well, then you’ve stumbled upon a place like the Tin Roof B + C. From the bakery side of things, I purchased an artisan multigrain loaf for the road. From the café side, it was a pear bran muffin and Central American pour-over. Easy parking, friendly and well-trained staff, good Sunday morning crowd of regulars, and decent foot traffic to keep the place quietly humming. Road trips are about the joys of the open highway, the secluded nooks and crannies that you’ll find when you leave the interstate far, far behind. But at some point, after hours of mountains and canyons and creekside picnic pullouts, you need to reemerge into a social space with fresh healthy food and warm, fairly-traded products. Places like Tin Cup make the choice of where to pit stop when in Chico ridiculously easy.

Went here to grab a couple sandwiches and the people up front didn’t want to make fresh ones to suit the fact that I have allergies to one ingredient that was in the pre made ones, plus there were a couple flies in the display case too… I don’t think it’s too much to ask for fresh food. Didn’t even eat here, the service was bad enough

After a 2 yr boycott I let bygones be i revisited to find friendly service and the return of my favorite an almond croissant. Nick was even kind enough to share his loaf of bread with me. I will feel confident to return as the assortment of baked goods and salads appeal to the foodie in me!

This place is one of the gems in Chico! I was so happy to have visited this bakery. The coffee is delicious and full of flavor. The baked goods are also so flavorful and fresh. I definitely recommend this place if you’re wanting quality baked goods and coffee! It is a little on the expensive side, but nothing more expensive than many of the coffee shops in town. The ambience gives off a very refreshing urban modern vibe. :)

Every time we come in here, this place impossibly continues to outdo itself! The genuinely friendly and patient front of house staff are the cherry on top. Some favorites: –chorizo empanada –muffuletta –tabbouleh –Chico Chai tea –Chico sourdough bread –white chocolate raspberry cupcake They have different selections daily and we always look forward to trying«new» items! They also have a booth at farmers market on Thursdays(cash only there). Customers for life, here!

Have gone to this café’ quite often as it has a nice outdoor area, and the food is usually good, but yesterday my experience was very disappointing. First they didn’t have any umbrellas and it’s very uncomfortable to be sitting in the blasting California sun, the excuse being that«they fall over and they are a liability», second they’ve been out of almonds for more than a week now(how does this happen in the almond capital?), third someone had spilled some kind of liquid next to a table and nobody cleaned it up until I let them know that THAT might be a liability! Fourth, even though it was almost empty, my order took forever to be ready. All in all they seemed short staffed and the ones that were there didn’t really care about providing the best service. Will not be going back until I see some umbrellas on their patio!

I am a HUGE fan of Tin Roof. They have everything you could want in a coffee shop: great service, amazing pastries, latte art(who doesn’t love a good heart in their latte???), and a great vibe! As someone born and raised in Chico, can honestly say it’s my favorite place to get coffee in town. And they use products from tons of local business, so yay! Supporting the community! I personally love Tin Roof because you get all the awesome coffee of a fancy downtown coffee shop, without the pretentiousness. It just has good vibes all around. And macaroons, who knew Chico had macaroons?!? It’s my go-to spot and it should become yours too!!!

Delicious tart. Perfect dark roast coffee. Very impressed. Good spot for working. Acoustics are good with music just about as not too loud/not too quiet as you can get. Lots of effort gone into this place and it shows.

This place is delicious. E brought me here and told me a bit about the history and how they began as a farmers market stand. The interior is really cool and I heard in the summers you can sit outside and watch the baking happen. We came at around ten on a Saturday morning and after an hour most of their popular baked goods were gone! E and I both got a chai latte(Chico Chai brand) and she got a lemon croissant and I got the maple bacon braid. Both pastries are pretty amazingly delicious and unique. Most of their offerings range between $ 3-$ 4. I loved the cozy but«high-ceilinged» interior and lighting. Wish there was a place like this in the bay but then I guess it would get too crowded

The staff! Great people that obviously love what they are doing. Have not had lunch here yet, but if I can remember what day Alex is making empanadas I will! The croissant and scones are great. Clean friendly place.

Very good food however i didnt like how after 1 you can no longer order food like sandwichs or salads. You can buy loafs of bread and cakes but selections are slim. I wanted a parfait and so did my husband but they only had 1. So i had to order sonething else.
