Very disappointing! Was really looking forward to visiting this newish business in town, as an organic urban farmer I am always looking for a great resource for heirloom seeds. I visited the shop and spent nearly 15 minutes looking at everything and not once was I welcomed, engaged, or asked if I needed help by any staff. Several people walked in and out of the room that obviously worked there and not one even acknowledged I was in the shop, it’s important to note that I was also the only customer there. Finally I walked up to the counter where the register is and stood there waiting patiently to be rung up. Two employees sat at their desks in the back and ignored me(I made eye contact with them so I’m pretty sure they were aware I was present) nobody got up from their seat to ask me if I needed help I had a few items in my hands that I had wished to purchase, I put them back and left the store. I will not shop there again or patronize their online shop, customer service is essential to good local business! It’s a shame because I was really looking forward to this business opening up, such a disappointment.

I’ve shopped at the storefront for Sustainable Seed Company several times now. The people have been friendly and helpful every time, with suggestions if I ask. All seeds are heirloom(non-gmo) and they have(literally) thousands of different seeds available. It took me half an hour to go through most of their tomato seeds! Large tomatoes, small tomatoes, drought tolerant tomatoes, blue tomatoes(and red and pink and orange …), canning tomatoes, super flavorful fresh tomatoes … etc. I hadn’t even intended to shop for tomatoes when I walked in. Beautiful shop, nice folks, healthy seeds with extremely high germination rates. Many are organic, and most of the others are sustainably grown. They’re online at as well, but the store is at least as much fun to visit in person. Super highly recommended. ;)
