Denny’s

The food was good overall but was Definitely not as advertised. I took a picture of mine but didn’t get to take one of my husband’s. He had a spicy skillet. It didn’t look like the picture either. They showed it with two kinds of sauce but only put one on it. When we asked about it, they said that they were out of it. The waitress said that she didn’t hear the cook tell her but the manager said that they knew about it earlier.

My wife and I visited the Chico Denny’s multiple times over a week. We were visiting the area due to a death in the family and were staying in one of the motels right next door. I am fairly picky when it comes to good service and good food. I found this particular Denny’s to be excellent in almost every way.
Regardless of the time of day, early morning or late night, we always received a very friendly greeting! As the week wore on we had several different waiters/​waitresses and they were all friendly, efficient, and accommodating to our often odd requests without fail. Even when the place was very busy the quality of service did not dip. I always ONLY tip based on the quality of service. For every visit I left at least an 18−20% tip.
I want to give special kudos to Leanne for her friendly smile and greeting each time, and Samuel, Maria, Robin, Frank, Bailey, and Willie for great attitudes and service.
As one person said in a another review, Denny’s is Denny’s, so it’s probably not for «foodies.» However, I was pleasantly surprised with the amount of and how good the food was. We tried several of the over-​55 menu items. The tilapia, and chicken-​fried steaks with various sides were delicious. The chicken soup and clam chowder were great. All of the breakfast items I tried were plentiful and good tasting.
The prices are what you would expect, meals generally run from around $ 8-​$ 9 and up. Some specials are less.
I don’t quite understand the low scores for other reviews. In my opinion and experience, this is the best Denny’s, and actually one of the best restaurants in its class I have ever visited.

Horrible service. I work in Chico and my shifts are typically late shifts, meaning I don’t get off work until around 2 in the morning. I live 30 minutes south of Chico, and even though Denny’s is a 24 hour restaurant, I’m much better off driving back home so I can have something to eat. Tonight even, my friends and I wanted to grab a bite to eat and catch up. There were multiple workers there tonight, and the place wasn’t even that busy, yet it still took them roughly 10 minutes to get us seated. Not only that, we waited for roughly 15 more minutes for a waiter to hopefully come and take our order. When they hadn’t shown up and we’d been there for about half an hour, we were so disappointed that we left. Consistently horrible service. Wouldn’t recommend, even if you are desperate to get some food.

So Denny’s is Denny’s. It’s your «all american» food. Large on quantity and usually a bit greasy and lacking in flavor.
I ordered a skillet. Which was SO hot that I had to leave it sit for a while before I could actually eat it. I find that is usually the problem with skillets. The flavor was alright but nothing spectacular. I didn’t even finish it all. A bit too much grease in the bottom by the time I got down that far.
I would say this is great for late hours, after the bar, when you just need comfort food, etc… but it’s not fine dinning and not what you should be looking for here.

Great food better than most Denny’s. Great service, even when busy. Friendly Staff, Definitely will return.

This is what we did tonight, we had a paranormal investigation in Chico:
Afterwards Deanna and myself were hungry. We stopped off at Dennys. The customer service was bad. We had to ask for refills for our diet Coke, coffee. When it was time to pay, I had to flag someone down. The cashier takes my credit card and doesn’t return, because she is too busy talking to two other women. Finally a guy waiter saw that I had been waiting for a long time and got my card for me. I ordered the Fantastic Four — 4 cheese omelete, hash browns, toast. Deanna had the veggie burger. The veggie burger made her sick, she thought the mayonnaise could have been bad. This Dennys was BAD!

Please stay away from this place. Worst experience ever. Had to go here coz everything else seemed to be closed and it was walking distance from my hotel. Ordered steak and eggs. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium. The servers and the kitchen seemed to pretty relaxed and not taking their jobs seriously, busy with their phones and joking with each other. The food arrives and the server doesn’t even notice that I dont have any silverware. I ask for some and then she brings me a fork a spoon and a butter knife. I ask her if I can get a steak knife. which she brings all wet and nasty as though it was plucked from the sink. The steak is not cooked and there’s blood on my plate. I ask the server to ask the cook to put it back on the grill. When she takes it back I see the cook and her laughin and joking over it. Ive had enough and leave after payin my bill. They discounted 3 dollars. Please stay away from this place.

My first impression this place smells the carpet smells like throw up! I should have left but I didn’t want to cause a scene.
But the food was really good! I love pancakes for dinner!
So I give it a three the waiter was really nice and polite and the food was good and once the food comes you can’t smell the vomit anymore.

Pretty impressed by denny’s lately. Food is delish. I love the sampler. Pick your 4 it’s ally of food for under 8 smackers !!! And FYI they give military discounts.=====

Just had the worst avocado chicken salad. The picture in the menu showed a large amount of avocado but when it arrived there were three small slices of avocado. When I asked about the meager amount of avocado on the «avocado chicken salad» It was suggested that I Purchase a side of avocado. Really! This was an $ 11 meal. NEVER AGAIN stick to the slam breakfast and avoid lunches or dinners. I didn’t dare mention that the chicken was tough and appeared to be old.

The service is alright. I used to come here because the waitress Angie was awesome. Ever since she left our service is not very good. The food is not very good. I miss Angie

Alright, this is a chain diner. Not some 5-​star restaurant competing for a spot in the Orion or CN&R. Because of this, I will only review it on a chain restaurant standard:
This is actually my first time eating at Denny’s, yes, it’s true. I do not know what to expect or know how good it can be, but a friend invited and wanted me to try and so I went along because everyday should be a new experience. They have a 2,4,6,8 menu which is tempting to see. I ordered a meal that consist of hash browns, eggs, and french toast (forgot what it’s called). I told the waitress that I would like to replace my bacon with something else and she accepted, giving me double hash browns. The hash browns are huge for a double and I love the hash browns out of everything that comes in my meal.
For about 4 dollars, I am well stuffed. The waitress was awesome and attentive, even late at night. The cashier who I believed is the manager is very kind also, cracking a few jokes with her here and there. What gave this restaurant a 3 star is that the restaurant isn’t very clean, perhaps because it was late at night and because the eggs tasted a bit bland. Beyond those two, I’d give this chain a thumbs up and will consider coming back here to try their other menu items, and especially their hash browns which I recommend eating with some sort of hot sauce.

I’m disappointed how many businesses that serve food, are allowing people to bring in their pets. I totally understand what a service dog is. Society has taken advantage of this and establishments are enabling it. I came to eat breakfast and ended up having a cup of coffee and an english muffin. I couldn’t get out of here fast enough. After asking the waiter about their policy, he said they couldn’t «discriminate» when the customer says they need it for «companionship». I CALL BULLSHIT. i have a prescription to have my cat for pet therapy. IT DOESN’T MEAN IM GOING TO BRING IT TO DINNER! take a stand and say «no». I really do love animals but a restaurant is not the place to have them. It’s rediculous and the establishments are to blame for this getting out of control

While the server was very courteous, the night manager and cook were both HIGHLY unprofessional. Yes, I am aware that this is a Denny’s not a 5 star restaurant, but for the MANAGER to not only be loud and obnoxious back in the kitchen for the entire restaurant to here, but to be yelling at the employees to take their breaks right this very minute is ridiculous. So unprofessional, and inappropriate.
Moving on to the food, which was semi-​decent at best. The eggs were uncooked, wrong ingredients put in my skillet, and the bland taste of the grandslamwich ordered by a friend.
IVE BEEN TO THIS LOCATION DURING THE DAY, with the orders being the same, but tasting correctly.
AVOID THIS LOCATION AT ALL COSTS AT NIGHT!!!

Look people, it’s Denny’s! Not some hipster brunch spot. It’s a nation wide chain dinner that’s open 24 – 7 and serves all menu items all the time. I personally like this one and have been here a lot, mostly for breakfast. The waitresses know me and are very friendly.
I’ve only had to wait an extra amount of time for my food a few times when they either had a short staff or were really busy (weekends for breakfast can be packed).
Is it the most healthiest, no, but they have some options and you can always ask them to adjust things. My Dad doesn’t like hash-​browns so gets spinach with jalapeños because he likes hot stuff. I don’t care I want my traditional American breakfast grease and all. I love it.

Worst customer service everrrrrrr!!! If I had the option, I wouldn’t have given them even one star. I went there twice and both times the customer service was horrible. Their portion size is a lot less than any other Denny’s I’ve been to before. Ordered extra bacon on my burger and literally got like one piece all crumbled up. Water was never refilled until I had already finished eating. Avoid this place if you can. It is NOT worth it.

This is definitely one of the worst Denny’s I’ve visited. Each meal comes out dripping with at least a half gallon of lard and generally tastes awful, no matter how much salt tops the «dish.»
I feel for the poor waiters/​waitresses, though, as they always seem to be terribly understaffed and each servers looks run down, to say the least. An important note: they’re generally quite pleasant (when they see you, which is if you are in the middle of the place). Furthermore, the manager made a major effort to right (a lot of) wrongs with our food, so the service deserves a solid 3.5−4÷5.
However, as it is a restaurant, the food taste/​quality/​experience is a more important factor in my rating, and the food that comes out of this joint is just purely awful. The «restaurant» itself is always dirty/​outdated and smells of mold. If I’m being honest, I think the two stars is generous, only because I feel for the staff and their, what must be difficult at best/​horrible at worst, working conditions.
I think it’s time to knock it down and start over, but I’m spoiled with local diners and other yummy food, so I suppose I’m biased.

Really good service and delicious food! I love Denny’s coffee :-D. I just wish a better décor :/​. OMG chicken strips with buffalo sauce are perfect!

First off, remember that this is a diner, not the Ritz. The food is cheap and tasty (by diner standards), and the service is very fast. I stayed for a week at the Holiday Inn next door and much preferred Denny’s for breakfast over the hotel restaurant. A couple of the waitstaff even remembered me and my orders because I was there so often! You can’t beat the Build You Own Slam for breakfast!
