We went here about a week ago and im disgusted by how rude the front staff member was, specifically, KATELYN… Rolled her eyes every time we asked a question, was totally unhelpful and acted like we were wasting her time when she was doing NOTHING. She was only nice after i asked her what her name was so i could point her out directly on this review which i think she figured out. I dont know if she is related to the owner or management but noone should ever feel like they can treat customers like crap. A young man behind her offered to put pepperoni on the cheese pizza for us even though she said there was no pepperoni… The two seconds he spoke was the only kindness we recieved while we were ordering. Will NEVEREVER go back to this location… Food was good but eaten with anger and frustration ruined the whole experience

workers are rude here and the pizza is not as good as the pizza from downtown location.

If you love having pizza at the downtown location you’ll be disappointed by this place. They do something different than downtown, and it shows with the quality. Not very good pizza. Really flimsy, greasy, and tasteless crust. The dining area is tiny, and generally full of people standing in line. If there’s more than three people in line the fourth has to stand outside. Not sure if all staff are slow, and more interested in flirting with other employees, but has been the case when I’ve been in. Do your job, and have some pride in your pizza! It’s only pizza, not something complex like sandwich construction.

I have lived in Chico for about ten years, and like many people, I loved Celestinos. That was until recently. The service is horrible! The one on east avenue always messes up our order, and they are just plane rude. We would joke around when we ordered from them about the likelihood of our order getting messed up. We made exceptions because I like the pizza. I get mess ups, but there is absolutely no reason to be rude to customers. Last night we ordered a pizza for delivery. They quoted an hour and fifteen minute wait. That was fine. We waited and the pizza had still not arrived. I figured I would wait another 15 minutes before calling, because I get people get busy, but I also want to make sure my order was not forgotten about. When I called, I said very politely that I was checking on my order. They said that they quoted an hour and fifteen minutes and that it had only been an hour. I said, no actually it has been an hour and a half. Then they put me on the phone with the manager(I am assuming he was the manager) who then went on to tell me that I just put the order in thirty minutes ago. I kept telling him that I know how long we have been waiting. The point that he wanted to argue with me about the time I ordered was just absurd. Finally he figured out that they never changed there time for daylight savings. I could keep going, but the fact that he continued to argue with us, instead of hearing us out was too much. Also, I don’t want a cold pizza that has been sitting around for an extra 45 min. I can make exceptions for stoner teenagers making mistakes. We have all been there, but there is no excuse for being rude and arguing with customers, especially when the customer was right.

We ordered pizza delivery tonight and it was terrible! Besides being cold(we had to microwave it), there was barely any cheese on it. It was sparsely covered, with only sauce under some of the toppings and no cheese from about two inches from the crust. We were very disappointed. In the past, we had a problem with raw dough and when we returned the pizza, they didn’t even offer to remake it for us. We thought we’d give it another shot tonight. What a rip-off! This is the last time we will order from the East Avenue location and possibly the last time we will ever eat Celestino’s ever!

The food is really good, and because of that I am giving a 3 star instead of 2 star. Because the service is horrible. I have gone multiple times and it takes forever to get my food out and it is premade food… a piece of pizza that they just have to reheat and a cold sandwich. The last time I got food there I decided to call in first, they said it would take 30 minutes. Okay. So I waited 30 minutes and then I drove there. When I went to paid I found out that they hadn’t even started on half my order yet. 30 minutes had gone by and they hadn’t even started! I had to wait there another 15 minutes for my order. The reason I called in was so I didn’t have to wait. Sitting there waiting they seriously look like chickens with their heads cut off. No organization and plenty of upset customers. One lady cancelled her order while I was there because they were taking so long. One lady waited over hour and thirty minutes for her order. Is the food worth the wait? Not really, there are plenty other options out there with much better service.

I am very disappointed with the service I just received from the East Ave branch of Celestino’s Pizza. We were having guests over, and I ordered a large cheese pizza to be delivered to my house in Amber Grove. After an hour goes by and I hadn’t received my pizza, I called to check the status. They told me they pizza was currently being made. They obviously forgot about our order. Over an hour had gone by and they hadn’t even started baking the pie. I asked to cancel the order, and resulted to throwing together pasta for our guests. I love Celestino’s Pizza and I love ordering locally, but this was ridiculous. I really wish the downtown location delivered to this side of town. I have always been happy with their service.

The pie here is great! Great toppings(although they could do better on their mushrooms than shaving to poor things down to nothing), awesome sauce, TERRIBLECUSTOMERSERVICE! I actually just called and was told by the girl who answered the phone that she did not have time for me, to call back, and then she hung up on me. Add to that the fact that they got rid of their extra large pizza and started cutting the ‘New York’ style slices down to piddly, thin, pathetic slices that New York would scoff at and make fun of… yeah, just call Woodstock’s or Pizza Hut instead.

Called for a Sunday night pizza at 8pm. Now it is 8:16 and i am still waiting on hold for«a girl» that takes credit card calls. Not how you treat customers I will never eat here again.

I’m not thrilled with Celestino’s anymore. When I first moved to Chico over 10 years ago, it was great pizza. Great service too, at least at the downtown pizzeria. Whether we ordered to deliver or to pick up, the pizza was excellent and the service was fast. Years have gone by and I couldn’t tell at first whether it was my imagination that the pizza quality had declined, but I’m sure if it now. It’s been a slow decline of quality and service. It was when we moved to the other end of town and started ordering from the East Ave restaurant that I stopped ordering from there for the most part. If you spend that kind of money, you want a great pizza! My experience tonight sealed the nail on the coffin. Won’t go into details but I’m very frustrated. To the manager: Sometimes, it’s worth it to give a customer what they want and it can be free or cost $ 2, but losing a customer is never worth it. It’s no longer a specialty pizza in my book, just another pizza place. Perhaps it’s because Chico’s population is increasing, but I think they could have expanded themselves to meet the demand, instead of cranking out mediocre pizza. Kind of sad.

Visited Chico in an RV and called the downtown location. They did not deliver to the RV park we were at and told us to try their East Ave. location. Since they would deliver to the park we ordered their Olive special pizza with sausage. The said it would be an hour and fifteen minutes until it was delivered and that was exactly how long it took. The delivery guy was great and found us in the park which was not all that easy. The pizza on the other hand was not very good. It was undercooked so the crust was doughy. Canned black olives dominated the flavor along with canned artichoke hearts. The sauce was similar to spicy ketchup and the cheese seemed to be a rather greasy mozzerlla. After reading all of the stellar reviews of the downtown location we very disappointed. We should have read the reviews of the East Street location as they seem to be much worse than the downtown location. Moral of the story is if you want to order a pizza from Celestinos in Chico make sure to get it from the downtown location and not from the East street restaurant.

So three times they’ve messed up with my delivery. First it was the actual pizza. Then it was forgetting the ranches Id ordered. And then it was forgetting the treat they promised to accommodate the previous errors. And now they say my house is out of their delivery range. Unfortunate because we love their food. But no delivery means no more business. Bummer.

Ordered a calzone. Was told 40 minutes. Here I am over an hour later. Still waiting. UPDATE: Took about 1 ½ hour to make a calzone. Calzone comes uncut and literally dripping with oil. I’ll never eat here again.

Every time I eat in this place the pizza is delicious. I recently ordered a cheese pizza during the world series that was horrible. Burnt on the bottom huge bubbles burnt and almost no cheese. Is a shame they can’t get the ones delivered right and they seem to be trying to save money on cheese. I honestly threw the pizza back in the box in disgust after a couple bites of burnt flavor. I ate what little cheese was on the pizza and tossed it.

Celestino’s is excellent pizza. It’s hands down the best pizza for the price in Chico. I haven’t had terrible service at this location like most of the reviewers. The service is OK, nothing stellar. But then again, the downtown one doesn’t strike me as amazing either. Wait times can be somewhat lengthy when they are busy(obviously) but the staff have always been friendly to me. Also, this location does experimental slices. One time they had a Loaded Baked Potato pizza which was fantastic. Bacon, potato slices, ranch, and green olives.

This location does not have the same type of service as the other location. I wish they did. However, there is something really great about Celestino’s pizza that I can’t get anywhere else. I don’t bother with the By-The-Slice if I can help it. What I love to order is: Large Pizza: white sauce, roasted garlic, fresh basil Try this for sure, it is ridiculously good! If possible, add a Medium Pepperoni to your order and you’ll be set. Enjoy!

In one word — AWFUL! We have been eating at the downtown Celestino’s for 16+ years — we love it! We recently moved and«discovered» this second location. I figured it would be the same great quality and easier to get to from our new place… Wrong. It never even occurred to me to get on here to see reviews of this location — how could it be different? I wanted to leave a review to warn others, but I see there have been a TON of bad reviews already. The pizza was burned totally black. The woman working offered us a small cheese pizza to make up for burning/ruining a large Godfather — WTF?! It was already late and had taken awhile so my partner just brought home the burned pizza. Even if it had not been burned it would have been far inferior from the downtown location. There was about 1⁄10 the toppings — about 10 tomatoes, no heaps of pesto, and barely any cheese. Even the crust was different. If you have been to the downtown location you know how the Godfather SHOULD look — heaps of everything and cooked to perfection! Why does the owner let this place be so awful? How does the owner of a very successful restaurant open a second location that is TERRIBLE? Why would you ruin your brand and reputation by allowing this? I now have serious doubts about the business acumen of the owners… I’ll drive out of my way to go to the downtown location from now on. I hope this place gets it together or closes. AVOIDTHISPLACELIKETHEPLAGUE!

ADDENDUM to my initial review: they made it up to me! They fired whoever made the first pizza and we got a second pizza from them: a VEGAN pizza loaded with veggies. [see picture] INITIALREVIEW by Clay Olson; Maybe they ran out of sauce and sprayed on a paint-thick layer of tomato paste on our large pizza? Maybe they ran out of vegetables and put one ½″ piece of broccoli etc. on every 2 square inches of pizza(IOW, there was 1 – 2 inches between each piece of veggie!). Maybe they ran out of crust and used some dough that hadn’t been raised«But it’s Memorial Day and we HAVE to get these pizzas delivered!», and that’s why the texture of the dough was like bubble gum when you first chew it?
