Good food, great coffee, and awesome atmosphere! Just sucked waiting a good 20 minutes for our food but it was a Sunday morning so I understand. Lots of room to find seating! On the photo left is huevos rancheros and left is veggie omelette.

Mike and his amazingly friendly staff make you feel like a regular. The food is fresh and farm to fork the vibe is artsy bohemian and retro cool. The food is just stunningly prepared and always quickly delivered. My favorite place in Chico. Thanks for the continued positive experience.

Friendly staff, great food, I can’t get enough of this place. My girlfriend and I go here on the regular and love all the awesome vegetarian options. Also the paradise ice tea is amazing.

We went here for breakfast this morning… never again. It is nice on the inside, you just go up and order your food and get a number. Then your food comes in like 4 minutes. I am assuming because it was already sitting there under a lamp or something. It is no exaggeration when I say it was hands down one of the worst meals I have had. Potatoes so dry I did not know it was possible. The desert in your mouth! I tried drowning in sauce and it made no difference, when they are that dry the texture is terrible. Avocado that was totally hard because it was not ripe at all, and tomatoes that had that weird skin on them from sitting out forever. Everything was room temp but the two eggs put on top. No Flavor. just nothing. The eggs were all I ate and toast with no butter. No butter to be found. I will say my boyfriends breakfast burrito was not bad. Wasn’t great either. Prices are way to high for ordering at a counter, not to mention food that you can’t even eat!

Love this place for breakfast! Good food, strong coffee and beautiful venue. We love to sit outside on a nice day. Unlike other breakfast places, the wait is never terrible and your food comes quickly!

We have been here many times before, but we hadn’t posted on Unilocal before. Today we split the breakfast enchiladas which are absolutely fantastic and enough breakfast for sure. We have split the eggs benedict before which were a little underwhelming. you can always count on friendly service at beatniks! Hi love the self-service drip coffee. A great local hang out for sure!

Overall the place is very inviting and relaxing. The artwork and stain glass are very neat and bring some great color to this place. The coffee is good, my boyfriend’s breakfast(The Natural) was very good, and my biscuits and gravy was ok(Wavy Gravy). The«sausage» gravy was lacking sausage and had a too much herbs. My eggs were cooked perfectly and tasted great! Order delivery was very quick. I would come back again but would not get the biscuits and gravy.

I wanted to try a new breakfast place in Chico and I drive by this place every single day. Popped in to grab a Beatnik’s burrito real quick before class. $ 8 was a little steep but pretty average for breakfast burritos everywhere. The flavors of this particular menu item were amazing. I almost ordered it with no blacks beans because I am not a fan. So glad I ordered it with the bean and corn salsa. Spicey and yummy. Didn’t receive my avocado though so that’s why I’m taking one star off. Will go again for sure but please give me avocado. That totally would have made it absolutely perfect.

I’m conflicted here. On the one hand, I had a really great latte. On the other hand, they charge $ 11 for a breakfast sandwich. Also I noticed that they had some very expensive art work for sale without any mention or information about the artist that created the work. To me that feels like they bought it cheap and jacked the price. I understand that it’s a business, but that’s not really supporting the arts as much as it is capitalizing on it.

Great food and service. This is a slice of the 50 s and pretty funny to go back in time. You appreciate the beats. My cousin lives there and never went before but they have gluten free so she was trying to accommodate me. She liked it too. I adored it. Great gf food. The nongf husband loved it — best eggs Benedict ever. Coffee and tea great.

It’s a little pricey for ordering your food at a counter. Service is OK.

I had been excited to try Beatnick’s after driving by there everyday. I finally had time to go and the service was very poor. The girl had a snotty attitude and I felt as though I wasn’t welcomed. I used to be an assistant manager of a Ritz-Carlton beach restaurant and love the great friendly service in Chico, but it was lacking at Beatnick’s. It was a boring environment. The food was okay, I prefer other places and will next time try Crepeville because whenever I pass by there everyone has smiles on their faces. The chai tea gets one star. It was delicious, but the service was not good and hope their servers learn how to be genuine and friendly. I did not feel welcomed and will not return.

You know, I hate leaving reviews like this but I’ve just gotta do it. I’ve been going to Beatniks for awhile now, although less frequently these days because of work schedules, etc. Actually, I think I’ve been using that as an excuse for so long that I sort of started to believe it. Here’s the thing. The servers/baristas/girls behind the counter are never that friendly. When I find myself going in there with a «kill them with kindness» attitude, it’s time for me to step back and say, «what am I doing?!» I’m lucky if I get a smile, a handful of times I’ve gotten a hello, but that’s about it. I have noticed, however, that they are suuuuuper friendly with the cops and cute boys that go in there. I can’t blame them for that, really. Cops be handsome in their tight blue uniforms, amirite? They almost always screw up my very simple drink(an Americano with lots of room for soy milk) by not leaving me any room for soy milk and giving me an attitude when I ask them to pour some of it out. One time it was almost to the rim of my canteen! I think I could’ve fit maybe a drop of soy milk in there, and even that would’ve been pushing it. Today, god bless ‘em, they gave me plenty of room for soy milk, but failed to give me the ice for my iced Americano(I know, i know, I was pushing it). I had to say«excuse me» a couple of times and was either not heard or ignored and finally when I got her attention and asked for ice, she said, «oh, was that iced? sorry, I didn’t notice.» MEH. Also, I always bring in my reusable canteen and they never, ever give me the discount for it, and in fact today I was charged an extra 25 cents somehow. I didn’t even fight it because the girl at the register was mega unfriendly with me. I’ve got my stamp card all filled up and I think I’m going to take my free drink and run for the hills. It’s just not worth it anymore. I can get coffee with an attitude somewhere else, but at least they’ll get my drink right.

Beatniks has AWESOME fish tacos! This new item on their menu is over the top. I’ve been a Beatniks regular for over five years. They always have good service with a smile. I’m there at least once a week for breakfast, lunch, or coffee. They’re convenient and the Mikes run a fantastic coffee house. If you haven’t been there, go check it out!

Been here a few times now and I can’t seem to stop ordering the Beatnik’s Burrito or the Ranchero Burrito(which is basically the Beatnik’s smothered in ranchero sauce, pepper jack, and baked to finish). Truly the best breakfast burritos in town. Trust me: You won’t leave hungry. The location is cool, inviting and feels very«open» for its size and design. Staff is always very accommodating and the wait(even when busy) isn’t unbearable like it can be at other breakfast joints in Chico.

I love the atmosphere here and the folks who work here are super nice. Coffee is excellent. Eggs Benedict, eh. Wavy Gravy, eh. French toast, YUM. On a positive note: I’ve had an AMAZING breakfast burrito here before and the couple times I’ve come for lunch have been delicious, too. Perhaps I’m picky with eggs benedict, I do looooove them.

Coffee not bad. Fresh muffins were excellent. If you’re a muffin lover this place is for you and I will come back for only those(and a coffee to go with it). Eggs benedict were average at best. We won’t be having them again. Denver omellete although it had a LOT of ham was average as well. The side potatoes were under cooked and almost cold and very dissappointing. Convenient location near freeway.

This is the go to place for a great Breakfast in Chico. The quality ingredients and cool spins the menu provides makes it my top choice for breakfast in town, Where else can you get great coffee and a Frank Sinatra or James Dean Try the food and Tip when you order.
