Last night my wife and I saw«Chapter Two» at the WCP. It was our first visit, and we had a fantastic time. The performance was very, very good. Two sets and four actors might feel claustrophobic but the skill shown here made it feel very open, in a wide world. Ms. Rubinstein as Jenny hit all the right notes of nervous, white knuckled optimism, against Brian McCaskill’s moody and sarcastic George. George’s brother Lou is played by Peter DeFaria while Jenny’s best friend Faye is played by Amy J. Carle. They add both humor and feeling, and rally help bring the outside world in to this couple’s story. The entire play is set in side by side apartments — his and hers. The space is intimate and seats perhaps 100. The front four rows have wide, cocktail lounge style seats with small tables and you can bring in your drinks from the bar out front. We sat in row B which, being slightly elevated, I would say were the best seats in the house, though there are certainly no bad seats. There are great restaurants nearby so this makes for a great date night, and we will be subscribing for season two. The only down side? No heat in the bathrooms. Brrrrr.

This theater is amazing. I have never experienced a play like this before. We saw things you shouldn’t say past midnight and it was excellent. The layout of this theater makes you feel actually part of the play not just watching it. This is the 2nd play I have seen here and both were incredible. I can’t wait to come back with my friends. What an incredible evening.
