I got nothin’ bad to say about this place other than that I don’t get there nearly often enough. It’s a terrific neighborhood spot, a great space, an immaculately maintained shuffleboard table, a fantastic old-man-bar vibe, and generally the kind of place I wish there were more of. Here’s the ticket: the first time I went, I ordered a martini, and the bartender took her sweet time with it; it ended up being one of the best martinis I’ve ever had in my life. You can’t put a price on that, but they did, and it was perfectly reasonable. The kind of place I’m almost tempted to tell you to stay away from just so it doesn’t get ruined by a bunch of people showing up.

A great casual locally owned establishment in the great tradition of Chicago corner bars. Offers a great selection of craft brews and all other standards. But what I love most about Weegee’s is the exceptional offerings of cocktails. I enjoy going on Saturdays the most because that’s when you’ll find bartender Chris handcrafting some of the finest cocktails at an affordable price that you’ll find in the city of Chicago. We can always count on exceptional service and value for many of the old standards and patented Weegee’s libations. Reading some of the other reviews, I can’t help but note a few inconsistencies and inaccuracies. Is the neighborhood ‘dangerous’? Maybe. I suppose that depends on perception. Man up. Is Weegee’s quiet? Sometimes. That’s the way I like it, but in other cases I’ve seen Weegee’s packed and jumping as hard as any of the liveliest spots in the city. Will you get every kind of branded alcohol your heart desires? Nope. Weegee’s has what they have. Deal. Is the owner a cuddly teddy bear? No. You can’t be a cuddly teddy bear in this neighborhood running a bar, but this man has done more to get involved and improve this community than anybody else I can name who’d sit on the sidelines and complain. Will the bartenders obsequiously wait on you hand and foot? No. They’ve got a job to do. You want a bartender friend who’ll spend hours listening to your troubles and where everybody knows your name? That’s «Friends»…it was fiction. All in all, Weegee’s is my favorite bar in this city. And more and more people are discovering this hidden gem for themselves.

My travel buddies wanted to call it a night at midnight. I know now why I liken myself to Jack Kerouac, the lonesome traveler. I stay out until I feel the night promises no more magic. Bulos and Amile went to sleep. I was bored and went to Weegee’s instead of playing with a Ouija Board. The bartender was from the rust belt like myself. I find people from Detroit, Cleveland and Buffalo to similar in spirit and appreciate them the most. This is a nice place to relax and stare at liquor bottles and think about what your life has come to.

Too quiet for me. To me, quiet in a bar=boring. Secondly, the neighborhood is frightening. Lots of blue light specials if you know what I mean. While this didn’t deter me from visiting and I was able to find parking right outside the bar, I just thought others should know. Once inside(it was hard to find because I didn’t see any signage!) the nice interior did not match the rough exterior neighborhood. Great Negroni though, and that is why I decided to check it out.

I’ve witnessed the owner of this bar target and harass multiple Latino members of this community for no reason. Gang bangers are one thing, no one wants them around. But to run to the cops and ask them to run someone’s plates because you feel they’re a threat to you for standing across the street at a tire shop waiting for service? That’s pretty racist. This bar sucks and I refuse to patronize the business of a man who is threatened by people of a darker skin tone.

Fantastic old-school bar with a great selection of beers and cocktails. The atmosphere is mellow and there is an awesome beer garden. Also — it’s blocks away from the western end of the Bloomingdale Trail!!!

This is a great venue in Logan Square! They have an amazing beer list and menu. The parking is easy and the neighborhood is very accessible off Armitage. The new 606/Bloomingdale Trail is a block south. I highly recommend this place.

Awwww mannnnnnn. I love this place and recommend it to people all the time, but my last few visits have been less than amazing. I stand by everything I wrote in my initial review. This is a gem and it’s totally worth checking out once, twice if you enjoy yourself. But when Unilocal says you open at 5pm on Sunday and the doors are still closed at 7:15, that’s not running«a little late.» And if you have a credit card minimum($ 20), it’s not all that difficult to tell patrons beforehand or even toss up a little sign, is it? Lastly, I hope the owner reads this and absorbs all that his customers are saying: stop being a dick, dude. If you’re having a bad day, bro, I’m here for you. I got a couch and a notepad. Head on over and we’ll get this allllllllll settled out. Otherwise, remove stick from lower orifice and refrain from being rude to the people who are willing to give you their business.

Bartender’s salty. Atmosphere’s delicious. Drinks even more so. This is a classic cocktail bar in a brave location that should be supported. Love it and we’ll be back. Soon

This place is kind of fun, well the shuffleboard is. The atmosphere is a nice sort of quiet dive bar. The drinks weren’t bad as we ordered off the menu. But, man, that bar tender was a complete jerk. He was rude, ignored us, and kept giving my friend a dirty look while rolling his eyes. I’d go back but only if there’s another bar tender.

Amazing cocktails from knowledgeable, friendly bartenders. Great place to chill, play shuffleboard and enjoy classic cocktails at a reasonable price.

As I looked for Weegee’s, I drove right past it. The small corner bar was, indeed, small. I was going to meet a date for drinks. And I have to be honest… I legit thought my date was going to be lame if he was bringing me here. But then I walked in and was transported back to this old speak easy type of feeling. Primary votes were that day and a group of locals were there cheering on a neighborhood rep in his quest for political glory. So, that was cute to see the community coming together. The drinks were delish. The two of us probably had a good 5 drinks each, which was well beyond my 2 drink rule. It wasn’t loud or obnoxious, and the laid back vibe was nice. Definitely would go back again and would recommend to take time to stop in.

When visiting Chicago for a few days we decided to hunt for some great cocktail bars and stumbled upon a NYT article with a few recommendations. Among them was Weegee’s. The neighborhood is definitely off the beaten path… Enough so that our Über driver called to make sure we were in the right place after dropping us off! But yes, correct bar. But super weird experience. We were there early evening on a weekday so I wasn’t expecting it to be busy, and it definitely wasn’t. We go to the bar and take a seat expecting to be able to have a pleasant experience with an obviously not so busy bartender. However, it was one of the most awkward bar experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I conversationally asked for a recommendation, and was starkly shut down. For the most, we felt rather unwelcome and burdensome. Sadly, this place has the potential to be an excellent well-hidden gem. The drinks were great classic pours and prices were about average. The old-school feel of the place was quaint and the shuffleboard in the corner could probably offer a good time. However, none of these positive could outweigh the general weirdness of the atmosphere. Maybe another bartender would be a bit more friendly? One could only hope… So, all in all. Great drinks. But a good chance the bartender will make you feel super weird.

The stout beer selection is great but the feel and the vibe is definitely old school. No TVs and no wifi, so I have to caution anyone if those amenities are nonnegotiable then this particular dive bar is not for you… Also it feels like the place is great for conversation and relaxation. It’s an escape from today’s society !!!

Hit this spot on a late night after dinner outing. It was around Christmas and walking in out of the snowstorm was like walking back in time. It’s really a dive bar disguised as thoughtful and purposeful theme bar. Right up my alley. The bartenders are polished and know how to mix a drink. Everything I had(and I had a variety) was good tasting and… extremely strong. The drinks are definitely throwbacks to when men were men, gals were gals, and drinks got you drunk. I’ll reminisce on the perfection Weegee’s ambiance gave to this blistery, winter night for a long time to come. Give it a try!

«Can I get a Maker’s Mark?» «No, we don’t serve Maker’s Mark.» «Can I get a Crown Royal?» «No, we don’t serve Crown Royal.» «What whiskey do you have?» «There’s a menu over there on the table.» «But I’m not at the table, I’m at the bar.» Not sure what we did, but the bartender was certainly hostile and pretentious. Maybe we weren’t the sort of group he wanted frequenting his establishment. In that case, mission accomplished. Also, $ 10 for a simple whiskey cocktail and a PBR seems awful high to me for the area. Then again, maybe that was also part of the«you’re not welcome here» act.

Weegee’s is truly amazing if you can get over the«Grandpa’s booty smell». A few weeks ago, I was walking to Weegees with my man and a couple of friends to enjoy some nice cocktails on their patio. We were a few blocks away and an SUV threw eggs out of their window at us, luckily missing completely. Needless to say, when you’ve had eggs thrown at you, the only thing that can make you feel safe again is to pony up to the bar. Weegees mix-mastas are fantastic and knowledgeable on the drink menu. I’ve tried many different cocktails and have never tasted anything horrendous. ACTIVITIES! There’s a shuffleboard table here and a photo booth, both adding to the experience of this bar. The music selection is tops and sets a very chill mood, so do not come here if you are ready to rage on a Friday night. You will piss everyone off…(Maybe that’s why everyone thinks the bartender is a jerk) The patio is great. The location is far away from the Logan Square«strip», so you can always find somewhere to sit with your friends.

Love Weegee’s! And love that it seems to fly under the radar in terms of cocktail lounges. The drink list is great — love trying the different cocktails. My favorite cocktail I had last time had almond in it, but can’t remember the name. I always seem to spill out of the martini glasses they use though! Usually have a great and knowledgeable bartender, but last time seemed to be an exception. He couldn’t be bothered to make a recommendation(«Do you have something with St. Germain?» «Check the menu» «Uh, ok.» wth??). My favorite part is the old time photo booth and the shuffleboard — cool! 134⁄365

I do really like this bar, but after the owner, Alex Huebner, got in my face defending a regular tonight, I can’t strongly recommend Weegee’s any more. The good: the bar, the bartenders, the drink selection, shuffleboard. The bad: a patron told me to keep it down while playing shuffleboard. I noted that I was under no obligation to mind him and then the owner jumped in, puffed out his chest and insisted I leave. I was packing up the table anyway, but the owner persisted in running me out of the bar. It was probably the most unprofessional treatment I’ve received at any drinking establishment since I moved to Chicago seven years ago. Whatever. Again, I love the bar, but if the owner(who is omnipresent) disappeared, I wouldn’t be greatly upset. Weegee’s used to be the only bar in the neighborhood, but now that there are other options, I’d suggest spending your money elsewhere.

I love my girlfriend! She knows I have a Classic Vintage Style, and for my birthday she just went above in beyond to cater to my needs. We went for cocktails after my amazing birthday dinner to Weegee’s. At first sight I thought she missed the mark. When we stepped in I felt like I time warped 60 years. You can definitely drive right past this place as we have on our way to Marble, but when not eating I definitely will be at Weegee’s. The bartender dressed in shirt and tie. Amazing Classic Drinks, My favorite Pink Squirrel, and Disa had the Bocci Ball. Jenise R had this Cinnamon whiskey drink which put some chest hairs on lol but very tasty. The music is true to tone of restaurant, and there is a patio and photo booth… The prices are fair cocktails pretty standard great beer selection No discounts on my birthday ;)
