My hair can be difficult to cut, as I’ve learned over the years, but Julio is a real pro. He really knows what he’s doing. You will look and feel like a million bucks.

Finally found a place to get my haircut! Christine did a great job and listened to what I wanted! Will definitely be getting all my haircuts here for now on! Very clean and friendly salon!

This was an unusual experience but I’m very happy with the results, hence the five stars. I made a last-​minute appointment with Christine for Wednesday afternoon. I got there a little early and walked in to find her sitting down reading a news story off of her iPad and Julio standing next to her talking about it. It was kinda funny. Within a couple minutes Christine had me seated and gave me a bottle of water before she started working on my hair.
Christine has kind of a cooky personality. She’s really funny in a monotone kinda way. I showed her some pictures of what I wanted my hair to look like and she very clearly explained how we could work towards that look but it wouldn’t be exactly the same because my hair was still growing out from an undercut style. She cut my hair and we traded stories about superstitions, funny things her relatives used to tell her and awkward conversations we’ve had to have on trains with people who live in areas without mass transit and don’t understand why we’re whispering. After the cut was finished she shampooed and styled my hair. It was exactly what I was hoping for. Initial awkwardness aside, this place was just great. The atmosphere is laid back and the people working there clearly know what they’re doing. I’m definitely going to be a regular customer for Christine!

Have been going here consistently for about six months for color and very happy w Christine who does cuts as well as color. (Never gotten cut here but color has been solid). Ladies — she’s also v v good w blowouts! Reasonably priced and good about confirming appointments.

Took my husband here for a man’s Brazilian. Krstyna did a great job! Said her talking helped him refocus his attention from the pain. Clean, smooth, and great job. Julio is amazing. It’s a very friendly atmosphere with great workers.

The girl whose been cutting my hair for the past three years for some reason has been slackin on my cuts lately. Just not giving me what I want anymore. I went to my neighbor Waxman Spa and Salon to fix up what my girl had done a few days ago cuz I have a wedding on Saturday and Christine not only gave me exactly the pixie cut I was hoping for but she was lovely as pie. And my cut was chchCHEAP! I’ll be getting my hair cut by Christine from now on I do believe!

I must say that I am a very critical person when it comes to my hair. I have never let anyone but my friend cut or color my hair in over 12 years. I was convinced by my BF (a long time waxing client of the great Julio) to try Julio’s services. I’m beyond impressed and happy. The customer service, attention to every detail and the overall experience was perfect. Great job Julio and staff. Keep up the good work!

Julio is the best aesthetician around. I have been going to him for years for waxing and facials. I have been burned with wax before from other salons so I am always nervouse about getting a wax. He has never burned my face when he waxed me. He is gentle, professional and I highly recommend him. I have also gone to him for haircuts, style and color. He is up on all of the trends and he knows what looks good on my face. I have a round face so it is challenging to find a hairstyle that makes me look hot. Julio manages to make it happen every time. I trust him and would always recommend him to all of my friends.

I’ve been going to Julio for haircuts for 2+ years. He does a fantastic job of creating fresh looks for me when I want to do something different with my hair/​style. His salon is warm and inviting. I look forward to my visits each month. I would recommend Julio to anyone wanting a top salon quality look with a friendly stylist.

I would really recommend coming to this place because the staff is super nice and very professional at the same time. They do an amazing job and I really appreciate their great attitude. The cost of service is a little bit more than what I expected to pay but it was a great service. I would highly recommend coming here.

This was my first time at Wax Man and getting trimmed and waxed. I was heading out for an extended beach vacation. I decided on getting my back waxed, as I normally do, but also decided on having some man-​scaping done to my chest, abdomen and groin.
I was completely satisfied. I had never been trimmed before and Julio did an excellent job and made me feel comfortable the entire time. I had an unexpected time crunch with my appointment and Julio graciously stated that I was more than welcome to leave and come back to finish, if it made it easier for me. I have never had a salon tell me that. I took his offer and returned the next day to complete my services. All of which I would recommend.

I would highly recommend this place due to their great service and wonderful staff. I have gone here twice for a back waxing and haven’t had any issues with break outs. They keep their rooms clean and low lit so it’s a relaxing experience. They also have a wide range of hair care products along with some really great products to keep your beard looking great. Their selection easily rivals any other «men’s care» shops in the area.

Been coming to Waxman Spa for quite some time and will never go anywhere else. Julio is a Jedi master in men’s services; virtually painless. Maybe it’s the type of wax or the technique, I have no idea how he does it but he’s the best. I’ve been several other places and I have never been treated as well as Julio and his staff have treated me. Non-​pretentious, down to earth and a family friendly, Waxman Spa is tops in my book. The accommodate both men and women too. Do yourself a favor and give it a try– you’ll never go anywhere else.

Came here for my first professional back waxing after I couldn’t get a last minute appointment anywhere else. Based on most of the reviews of this place they are great for haircuts but not waxing even though it’s called wax man spa…
I will say the service was really great and all the people who worked here were very nice.
However, I just wasn’t satisfied with the back waxing itself.
First of all, I do not believe the wax was warm enough and the guy was letting it set way too long after applying before ripping it off which made it much more painful. I am making that assessment based on the places I’ve been since that I have had more successful experiences at.
Second, I understand that all the hair won’t be removed but there was much more left than I expected there to be especially for the price. I don’t mind paying for quality service but I did not see the added value in my experience. I found a much cheaper place that does a much better job.
I also had a really bad break out which started the very next day resulting in my back looking like Freddy Kruegers face which was not fun.
If you’re going to spend $ 70 (tip included) you might as well go to a better spa or spend less somewhere else and get better results.

I am writing the review on behalf of my husband who got a much needed haircut from Julio. I sat and kept him company so I got to know Julio and the services provided at Wax Man Spa. First of all, let me see that my husband got what could be at other places an $ 100 haircut for $ 35, which in itself is amazing.
Julio took his time, asked my husband lots of questions about how short he wanted his hair, and stressed that as long as the client is happy, that is what matters. We also learned all about the skincare services (men’s facials) and waxing services. Julio is no nonsense when it came to talking about the most popular waxing services (Brazilians and butt cracks… who knew!)
The staff there really seem knowledgeable about all the products they sell, and when I asked for a product for ingrown hairs, he had some great recommendations.
Bottom line, this is a great addition to Lawerence and I would highly recommend any guy stop by. He also said they do women as well, so make it a date!

He has an Amazon rainforest growing around and out of his ass. I say that lovingly. He’s not the only guy who requires a lawnmower to groom that area. I’m looking at you, dear male reader or girlfriend of such.
I made an appointment for Saturday afternoon. It was easy breezy. Our esthetician was Rosie. If you prefer a male esthetician, they have one available too.
Everyone’s super nice at WMS. Rosie was really great at making my SO feel comfortable and relaxed. It was his first time getting waxed. She applied a numbing solution first. We talked about how 40 Year Old Virgin wax scene makes waxing seem worse than it really is. (I’ve been waxed before and it really doesn’t hurt that much!)
Rosie was quick, efficient, and thorough. She was also really sweet and charming. My SO was amazed by the results. There was some discomfort, but that’s normal. He was really happy by his «bald ass» (that’s what he calls it). He was prancing and skipping around like a pony.
When he was done, he got a beer. Yup, he was very happy.
The cost was VERY reasonable and the results last for weeks. I highly recommend Wax Man Spa for your waxing needs, whether you’re guy or gal. Julio, the owner, is a sweetheart too!
I’m just happy that I don’t have to see a hairy gorilla butt every day.

Julio Mendez is the best from the Midwest to NYC !!! I have been going to Julio for my facials for over a decade. I have lived between NYC and Chicago for the last ten years and only Julio has the Midas touch.
This comes from a women who only wants the best and Julio is the best period. Typically I keep a monthly régime for my facials. I have been known to go on a bi weekly basis. When I leave Julio’s peaceful and zen like presence I feel like a billion dollars. Last time I left his spa and went for dinner the server asked for my ID and thought I was ten years younger than my age. That is the the afterglow of Julio.
On my last visit I was very stressed and had a massage from Chris the massage therapist and it was amazing. The perfect oasis to escape the stresses of living an urban lifestyle. I highly recommend you visit waxman spa!

I have been going to Julio for about a year now for my haircuts and always leave with a great haircut. I have to say that I have never truly been happy with the haircuts I have received from my stylist in the past. Honestly, I never really knew what I wanted or what I could ask for. Julio really has such an eye for what would look good for me and really allowed me to explore my choices. Every time I want a little something different he consistently helps me to facilitate my options in a knowledgable and honest way.
I have also been to the spa for other services as well. I have had my back and chest waxed from Julio numerous times and other staff at the spa and it has always been fantastic. Julio’s years of experience as an esthetician show with his ability to make a proceeder which may seem painful or daunting appear an art form. He seriously knows so much in the field and is very forthcoming in sharing his craft.
I also just recently went to Christoper Hasiak for a scalp, facial, and shoulder massage after my recent haircut. It was such a euphoric feeling leaving the spa that day. I work out pretty frequently and generally carry all my stress from my job in my shoulders so having this done was just what I needed. This week in particular my shoulders and neck were very tight and sore but when Christopher was done my head honestly felt lighter on my shoulders. And the facial massage was something I had never had done before but was a truly relaxing treat. I’m currently fighting this cold and my sinuses have been congested and caused me to have this pressure headache all week. But after this massage my sinuses felt at ease and the pressure was released. I highly recommend one for anyone in this cold season.
All in all everyone at the spa is truly professional and offers wonderful services with a knowledge and attention to their craft which is truly exceptional! I highly recommend anyone to stop in and see for yourself!
