Go gentle to the park where the wild birds sing and the grass sings gently in the summer breeze. Relax your spirit while sitting peacefully among the friendly plants and sheltering trees. This jewel, nay, this talisman of the city, will spellbind you with a different energy.

There is a little slice of heaven down the back of my alley called Warner Park. In the middle of a sweet block called Warner, which is bounded by Clark on the east and Greenview on the west is a gentle, well cared for, much loved city green space. There are hostas, lillies, lilac bushes, ornamental grasses, and an exquisite gazebo sitting with perfection. Last week when I walked around my block I saw a young couple sitting in the gazebo having a picnic dinner. They sat across from each other with a candle they carried there and a bottle of wine. They sat on a blanket and the minute I saw them I wanted to be them. Their obvious enjoyment was hypnotic. Today I walked down there with my sweetie and we set out beach chairs, ate cheese and crackers, read, and sunbathed. A very pretty kind gal named Lisa walked up with her 16 year old dog named Lilly and a cat whose name I forgot. But, it’s that kind of park. By that, I mean a woman walked her cat there, in the city, leashfree. It’s the kind of park, parked in a spot that is very urban, but when you come upon it you sorta catch your breathe and think carefully about what you are seeing and just how and when you will return and spend time there. I spent time there today and it was delicious. Time is not cheap, and to find a park like little Warner Park was delightful. It’s a public park, but not a city park. It is kept clean, safe, loved, living, and sweet by it’s neighbors. Sometimes the right neighbors make all the difference!
