wouldn’t recommend this hair salon. not clean and the women who cut my hair chopped it. I wanted it trimmed up, not the longest hair being on the top of my head. This women took my hair and maybe cut it in 6 places by bring it towards the top of my head. My hair wasn’t long, I always wear it short. angry!!!

Easy walk-in. Excellent price. A dive with bountiful of outlets. Guys openly get their eyebrows done. LOL. $ 10 min charge on credit cards. Cash only tip. $ 5HAIRCUT — good cleanup. She complied to scissors for thinning instead of blade(my hair gets super frizzy on blades and unmanageable). Defaults to round shape on the back that I think is more for guys than girls. HIGHLIGHTS — cap style and hair is threaded out. Painful. BRIGHTHAIRCOLOR — beware of the automatic bleach procedure. The expected color was supposed to be Fuchsia, and I end up with Magenta to Fuchsia as it was over bleached(too bright for talent work, 1-star less). I would have enjoyed the accidental color more, IF I was on vacation, or during the holidays. About a 3+ hour process. She meticulously applied 2 color tubes to every strand of my short hair. Worth it! THEHAIRBLEACH — tingled a bit. So far, my scalp feels good. The last time Vidal Sassoon bleached my hair, my scalp molted and shed for a week. THREADING — eyebrows and chin were painless. Every single upper lip hair was threaded out and it hurt, but looks great. No pain no gain. I am glad to have found a place that can put crazy colors on my hair that would stay for a while. Paul Mitchell Beauty School plainly refused my violet/purple color request.

Waiting over an hr and wanted to leave; but every minute I’ve invested would be at a lost if I leave. I’m pot committed. So I’m writing this review from my iPhone. When I walk in, multiple staff members made eye contact and ignored me. I stood at the front door lost and seeking for help… They didn’t want to deal with me. First red flag I’ve ignored… After 20 minutes I finally see someone walk to the front desk, which happens to be midway inside… I ask for a waiting list… This lady just looked at me and said I would need to walk to each barber and find out what’s their wait… So I did… Everyone said they are book for the night… And this one person said he has 6 people lined up for him… There happens to be only 6 customers in the store… Wtf?! I guess he wanted me to leave… But I waited it out. While«waiting it out», I notice everyone took one or two more customers and leave. The person I was waiting for only had 3 people in front of me… Not six… In all I waited 2 hrs and was ignored… Service was the worst ever!!! Stick to what you know! Go to Betty n nicks!

You can’t beat $ 5 for a haircut. They always take their time and are very detailed. I have been coming here since 2008 and have never been dissatisfied.

It seems getting a «Flat Top» is very difficult to do. I have tried with different places and none of them were willing to do «Flat Top» except for those salons owned by Mexicans. Well we are very lucky in Chicago as there are plenty of salons owned by Mexicans. Tonight I went to Vanessa’s and Wendy’s for a hair cut. As soon as I walked in, the cashier tells me to go to station #8 Station # 8 was stationed by an older lady with very few words. I told her that I wanted a «Flat Top» with #1 on the sides with shampoo. She immediately got to work. After about 30 minutes she was done. My damage:$ 10.00 + $ 3.00 tip Regular hair cut is only $ 5.00 Now I am going to go to Tatami Sushi in Glenview for dinner.

Do not get your hair cut here. I went here once, the guy cutting my hair was rushing so much that he ripped out one of my earrings with the clippers! And he still made me pay for the bad haircut!

I fell in love with this place when years of havin my hair be cursed and not turn out how i want finally turned out great! Thanks to «Julia» she made my blonde highlights turn amazing! And she was very nice. They were evenly spaced, not to mention not too yellow or orange. I come all the way from the nw suburbs to get my hair done now bc i love how julia does it. In fact alot of customers at my work compliment me on it. I recommended my. sis to go and she loves hers too. The receptionist is very nice also, i had time running on the meter and she did me a favor and went to put more money on it. well my money that is! Anyways i really recommend this place, it does get busy so go earlier.

Its hard to rate a place like this. Its a $ 5 haircut and they run the place like an assembly line. If you just need a basic cut, you might try it out. Anything complicated I would stay away, also, the staff does not speak very good English.

Great way to practice your Spanish. Sit down and explain how you want your haircut. This place can get crowded, so try to get there in the early afternoon during the week. There are less loitering homeys at this place than say, Betty and Nick’s. There’s an older Mexican man there who(I forgot his name) uses real aloe vera fresh from the plant to shave the back of your neck using a straight razor. Clipper cuts are just $ 5.00. They have model photos of hair styles on the wall that are numbered. I hardly see very many women getting their haircut but mostly color and eyebrow shaping.

After waiting half an hour and watching the staff let people get in front of me in line at We Care Hair down the street, I stormed out on Lawrence Avenue muttering profanity. I usually don’t let my feathers get ruffled if I have to wait, but letting people cut me in line is wholly unacceptable and I’ve been a loyal customer for over fifteen years. Today a new barber shop owns my allegiance which just goes to show how nuances can turn a loyal devotee into a turncoat in the span of thirty minutes. While storming down Lawrence, I knew of a $ 5 barber shop and shuttered to think of what I would encounter when I walked in, I decided to bite the bullet and get a haircut at Vanessa’s & Wendy’s Family Hair Care(Yes, it’s Vanessa’s & Wendy’s). Upon walking in, I was greeted by three stylists, and saw a waiting area of probably ten chairs which were all empty. Loud merengue was blaring with the distinct sound of La Banda Gorda cranking in the background and I had no wait to get a haircut! A young guy asked me in broken English what kind of haircut I wanted and I told him a number one. The clippers felt fine and he worked from the bottom up. After finishing off the bottom part of my fade, I was amazed to see him pull out the big razor blade to do my hairline. To say the least, it was a hair raising experience as I hadn’t expected it and I was holding my breath as the razor went across my skin and neatening my hairline. After a quick fifteen minute haircut I paid my $ 5 and tipped the guy $ 15 since I enjoyed the place so much. As compared to We Care Hair down the street, Vanessa’s and Wendy’s is more geared towards the entire family. This place screams Albany Park since the posters on the wall depicting all of the fades have white people, black people, and hispanics. Pretty cool place in my opinion and the best $ 5 haircut I’ve ever gotten. Well worth my money and I will not go anywhere else again!!!
