A lot of these reviews are kinda old, so I thought I’d leave a fresh one. I’ve been going there for a few months now and can’t complain. They might have their cleaning off site, but they’ve always been on time. Friendly, fast and good on the pocket.

They were going to launder a shirt that says dry clean only. Prices are same for slacks and shirts and I felt ripped off. Almost 4 bucks for each. I just moved here and realize I’m paying for the real estate but this place is completely no frills. I was unimpressed. Extra for fast service. Wonder what that would be… 5 to 6 bucks? I’m going to try out another place. Looks like cleaning is not on site either.

I brought my super soft, vibrant, plush Anthropologie quilt to be dry cleaned here and what I got back was a stiff, dull, lumpy mess. It looks like they just put it in a regular washing machine. They absolutely ruined it.

I put one star but it actually deserves 0. I will make sure that no one in my neighborhood goes over there. They damaged 3 shirts and it was clearly their sloppiness and laziness that caused the damage. The owner(i assume), a chinese person, refuse to believe that he was at fault and blamed me for the way i wear my shirt. 2 of my shirts, with metal buttons, that should have been dried cleaned, had burn holes along the sleeves. The owner said that it was the because I roll my sleeves. How can buttons make holes??? Then, one of my white shirts, one the back, had a huge yellow stain. But we could not argue this one because i was already furious. The person did not want to damage me in any way, nor credit or money back. I am taking my business somewhere else, and i wil make sure others do.

I’ve been to UIC VIllage Cleaners a few times now. I would guess they’ve dry-cleaned about 10 shirts, a few pairs of pants, had my pants hemmed, and repaired and cleaned a winter jacket. So far, so good. The shirts(standard button down shirts) haven’t that crispy look, but I’m not sure if that’s good or bad. Sometimes I like that look, other times I don’t want to look like I’m wearing a dry cleaned shirt. In fairness, I’ve never requested that they do anything different, so not sure if there’s flexibility with the starch they use. For the price(just over 1.50 a shirt), can’t beat it. The repair and hems they’ve done have also been great. The jacket was late by a few days, but they explained why… it happens. If you live close-by, I would recommend you give them a try.

Sometimes I have to come back because they’re like«oh we meant Thursday afternoon not morning»…that’s a shame when it happens but they have reasonable rates, do quick work, and they learned my name quickly so when I drop-off blood-drenched clothes I can walk in, drop clothes on counter, and walk out the door without saying a word.

So like, to try to give this place another try, I showed up with my swingin’ pimp coat here to have a zipper replaced. I was told it would be around $ 35. For a zipper? On a pimpin’ coat I got for $ 6 at Unique? I think NOT, and I give up.

I just got home and looked at the shirts they pressed for me and I’m currently looking at the sloppiest job I’ve ever seen. It looks like they somehow spent less than 2 seconds on each shirt. The sleeves weren’t even pressed completely and I have folds and wrinkles ALL over my shirt along every seam. How hard is it to press/clean a button-down shirt? This is standard stuff, It’s not like I’m bringing in anything exotic. This is equivalent to McDonalds screwing up a hamburger. Stay away from this place folks, if they can’t even get the basics down, I don’t know how they’ll get anything else right.
