I signed on for fertility treatment at UIC 1.5−2 years ago because I read good reviews for Dr. Scoccia. I was not able to see Dr. Scoccia but instead ended up receiving care from Dr. Zumah. Zumah was nice enough and I kept the relationship going despite my typical infertility aggravation experiences — its a very emotional process and that should always be considered when rating providers. They are medical doctors and not therapists.
With that level set, the short story is that I had 6 IUIs with this center for ‘unexplained’ infertility. As many couples in this situation do, we felt like there must be more to the story as we went about the same exact approach each and everytime, with negative results and one miscarriage. Three months ago, I moved on from UIC and went to a different RE provider.
After one visit and one ultrasound, I was informed by new doc that I had some ‘obvious’ issues that needed to be addressed before going any further. New doc urged laproscopy ASAP of my pelvic area to confirm and treat potential issues that he identified. While a bit shocked and skeptical after being ‘unexplained’ for so long, I took his advice and had the surgery. It turned out that I had Stage IV endometriosis, a completely blocked fallopian tube that required removal, and some long standing cysts. Surgeon address all issues and one month later, I am now moving forward with a remodeled pelvis.
Anyone going through this knows the positive impact it would have had to know about these issues much sooner. I think UIC did a terrible job caring for me — wasted a lot of my time, physical and emotional energy, and of course money. I do not recommend going here, at all or for long, if you have other options.

This is a wonderful group of medical professionals. If looking for an alternative to PP or Northwestern (pricey wisey)

I am now expecting my first baby and this where I chose to go out of many options.
Everyone else goes to NWMH — they can have the impersonal service and expensive parking and over priced docs!
I am staying right here with educated and FORWARD thinking medical professionals.
