Tuxpan Grill doesn’t look like anything special or even grab your attention when you drive by, but don’t let that put you off. This is super authentic Mexican food, prepared fresh with fresh ingredients. Their chicken fajitas was decent, although in fairness I felt like there wasn’t much chicken, it was mostly roasted vegetables. I came here because it was a short walk from the place I was at.

Never. Again. There’s no denying that they have good(not the best, but it’ll do) food, but the customer service here is just plain lousy. Especially when you have your food delivered and God forbid there’s a problem. Do not even bother calling them because they will just hang up on you. The best way(and most inconvenient to you) is to go there in person and air out your grievance. Otherwise, they will not even bother with you at all. Tux Pan, adiós. There are far better Mexican restaurants here in Chicago than your small operation of a business.

Waited for 2 hours. Called to see what the issue was and was told my food was in fact still there and would take another 30 mins and if I wanted to cancel to call grub hub. No apologies or anything.

This place has the worst service possible. It took 20 minutes for us to get a cleared table and an additional 10 minutes to get our order taken. When we ordered a basic cheese dip(queso fundido) it took 15 minutes to get to the table and it was cold. I’m talking about half melted, rubbery cheese sitting in a pool of grease that took way too long to get to the table. To top it all, one of the servers took the half eaten salsa from one table and went ahead and gave it to a new table. He didn’t even have the courtesy to change the container, or just serve a fresh batch — completely unsanitary. Thanks for the horrible experience. We left after an hour of waiting for oily, rubbery cheese and no enchiladas.

Food is decent. Kind of upset though. I asked them not to ring the doorbell bc my baby was sleeping. Well, that message must’ve got lost somewhere bc the delivery guy rang the bell. Dogs went ballistic and baby woke up.

I do NOT recommend ordering takeout from here. I ordered for delivery twice and both times my order was completely wrong. But the ingredients are really good and fresh. I dined in last night and everything was awesome. The service was great and the people are super friendly. The food was perfect and very fresh.

Bland and expensive. I take that back. I wouldn’t have minded the price if it was good. One cup of bland guacamole, two tacos, one cheese quesadilla, one tamale, rice and beans and horchata, $ 30. Also, their chips taste like old fryer oil.

Ever since amigo chinos burned down I’ve been trying really hard to find a good authentic Mexican restaurant. Recently I have stumbled upon this place and I love it. I’m obsessed with their chicken tortilla soup. Service is quick and our waitress was very attentive. I suggest eating in, but I haven’t had trouble with their delivery service. The taco dinner is very filling and I will definitely be coming back for more!

Went there for lunch during ACLS class because the instructor said it was good. Got the chicken fajita salad. Very disappointing for $ 13. Lots of lettuce. A few sweet peppers. Maybe exactly one sixth of an avocado. some tomatoes. I’m not sure about the chicken part. What little meat there was, was extremely dry, very tiny, looked like maybe it was from a mouse sized chicken. I left very unsatisfied.

I was really in the mood for Mexican this place had decent reviews and delivered. I called and placed my order the lady on the phone was extremely nice. Food was to arrive 45−50min Then 1 hour and 30 min later I was waiting for the food to arrive. I called and the woman I spoke to said it was on the way.(I ordered 2 tacos and a enchilada.) When the delivery person finally arrives I hand her $ 20.13 the total was $ 15.13 she take the $ 20 says thanks and just starts walking away. I politely say, «excuse me miss my change?» She turned around and was like oh. She didn’t even have change she pulled out 3 bucks and obviously my change would be $ 5. I do always tip but an hour and half come on. She didn’t have enough for the change so I told her to just keep it. I wasn’t planning on writing a review, but then I open the food and all of it is literally cold not room temperature but actually cold like it was in a fridge. Suffice it to say I will not be ordering from them again. The meat in the taco was chewy and cold. However, the enchilada had good flavor I warmed it up. It was super soggy though.

Awesome clean family run spot. Best meats of any Mexican place this far outside the city center. Consistent in quality, delivery times, etc. Very friendly staff.

Nice little spot. The portions are generous for the price, and the servers are friendly and very accommodating. Not the most flavor-ful Mexican food I’ve had(more seasonings needed maybe?) but definitely a good eat.

food is gross! Third time I get from here. The pozole is awful. It tasted like they just put packs of seasoning.

We have been frequenting this restaurant since it opened, so this review has been a long time coming. Their steak tacos are my absolute favorite! But honestly, I haven’t had a meal here that wasn’t worth 5 stars. The staff and ownership are super friendly and are always happy to see you!

We placed our order over 2 hours ago, online. After waiting an hour and a half we called the restaurant, finally a 3rd person, a woman, advised us that Eat24 had cancelled the order after she told them it would take over an hour. No one called/messaged/emailed. We just waited. I called Eat24, they of course, had no idea about an order cancellation, and immediately called the restaurant. Eat24 was told that since Tuxpan is now closed they won’t fulfill the order. That’s absolutely unacceptable! You received the order at 6:30pm, we called you prior to your 8 o’, clock closing, and you lied. Honestly, the worst(non) delivery experience.

Pretty good food overall and the steak is very good. They used to have the best super nachos out there, but sadly they are terrible now. I thought that perhaps it was just a mistake, but a second bad order of the super nachos confirmed it. They now serve the slushy, soggy goop that places call nachos where they just throw everything on and let it soak in and turn the chips soft and goopy. It’s horrible now. It’s more of a taco slushy than nacho chips. I would have rated it a four or five, but anybody who ruins a perfectly good dish like they did just doesn’t deserve a higher rating.

In search of a go-to Mexican restaurant in the area, we decided to try Tuxpan. They do a brisk take-out business(we noticed at dinner time anyway) and their place seats about 12 – 16 people. Dining in, you are given a basket of chips and a trio of salsas. The salsa verde was very good – nice heat, great flavor. There is also a smokier salsa, spicier than the verde but still a nice flavor. The red salsa is the weakest – no heat, kind of bland. The chips seemed like they weren’t fried enough as many didn’t have that nice crisp factor. I ordered the chicken enchiladas verdes – 3 rolled tortillas stuffed with shredded chicken, topped with salsa verde and crema. Comes with a side of beans and rice. It was just OK for me. The chicken was bland and even though the kitchen is steps away the dish wasn’t very hot. My husband ordered the enchiladas rojas with beef. I tried that dish and it was so much better than mine. I usually stick with verdes because I love verde sauces, but if we came back to dine here, I’d order this dish instead. I got to try their horchata as my son was in a sharing mood and it was very good. Smooth, creamy, great flavor. Service is super friendly. Our server(I think also the owner’s wife) was super sweet and doted quite a bit on my son. Nice family restaurant.
