Tropical Optical

This place is horrible bad service rude people an the optometrist is a complete idiot he said I had an eye infection an had to charge me extra for medication I didn’t need .I didn’t really believe it I went someonewere else an they told me my eyes were just a little dry people please be careful these people only want money they will take you right away if you say you’re paying cash but if you say you’re insured they schedule you for what ever day they want I will never again go to these people they don’t know what their doing!!! all they care about is taking you’re money !!

The optometrist was curt and didn’t like answering questions, let alone talking. I’m not sure about the quality of the prescription I received, but so far everything seems ok.
The receptionists and sales people were very friendly though, not sure what issues the other reviews had but I thought they were a delight.

If I could NEGATIVE STARS I would! this place needs to be closed down!!! Rude employees, and crappy work! They charge an arm and a leg and the perscriptions are incorrect. My dad paid over 300.00 for glasses that look like he bought them in Walgreen and I almost wish he would have, he probably would have had better luck! my mom bought 2 Pairs, both HORRIBLE. I would much rather walk around blind then go here again! AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COST!!!

Soooo I’ve been going here for a couple years and have always had mixed feeling. I think it’s the snobby rude ladies they have working for them. But whatever. Unfortunately they are way too convenient so I have to go here…
Now, I will say that Dr. Romm was a pretty awesome optometrist. Very friendly and gave me a lot of tips on treating my eyes right! He definitely gave me a better prescription because I can see much clearer now.
Prices are veeery cheap compared to other places. If you don’t mind rude office people but an awesome doc, stop in.
They do have a pretty large selection of frames!

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE SERVICE. Save yourself the frustration and aggravation. the service SUCKS. What I don’t understand is, if you really can’t stand working with the public, then why are you! The receptionist had a NASTY attitude and she acted like it took so much out of her to answer our simple questions.

If I could even give this place no Stars, I would.
Two years ago I went to this Logan Square optometrist for a routine checkup. I rarely wore my weak prescription (–1.5) for things other than movies and sporting events, but this is a business to stay away from!
The office is chaotic, kids climbing around, long waiting times and the main optometrist probably has numerous complaints against him.
I had problems with my left eye prescription upon picking up my glasses, so I went back. While I waited I overheard a mother tell her daughter her left contact prescription was bad and she was there, like me, to follow up. Left eye bad, a connection? Well, the Dr. was rude to me, saying it was my fault, and then claimed nothing was wrong. So, I took my lumps and the next week went to Pearle across the street, and the left eye WAS mis-​prescribed by Tropical Optical.
A year later I went back to Pearle for my routine check up. Guess who one of the customers at Pearle was bemoaning was crazy– the Dr. from Tropical Optical! She also claimed her mother, who always goes to Tropical, can’t see out of her glasses! So Stay Away!
