Not the best sushi but it is good if that’s what you’re craving and need a fix. Never super crowded so you can just grab and go. The gyoza is actually pretty good! Staff is friendly.

First off, the service was fantastic. I ordered my Ramen and it was done two minutes later. They gave me a free sample while I which was great. Now for the ramen. This is was I consider fast food ramen. It wasn’t the best ramen I’ve ever had but it definitely wasn’t the worst. The broth was tasty but the noodles didn’t have a lot of texture. This ramen is good if you have a craving and need it fast.

I am starting a tour of Chicago lunch spots. I’m looking for the best food for under $ 10. Tokyo Lunch Box was a great find. For $ 6.50, they have an amazing Beef Teriyaki — bowl of rice, some nicely fried tofu, with fresh carrots and spinach. They put on a good amount of beef — and the teriyaki is very tasty. Add some nicely steamed edamame as a $ 3 side. The sushi and rolls are also very good. Highly recommended!

Food and price is ok, but their service is really good! The lady makes you feel at home and takes care of you.

Not fine dining but inexpensive, fast and decent enough quality. Had the seafood udong(the spelling gives away the fact that it is ruin by Koreans) and it was tasty and fast.

Very cozy place with a cheerful owner, who always greet me with a big smile every time I come in for lunch. Food selection is standard, and the bowl I had(pictured) is awesome.

I’ve been here a few times. I usually get the udon noodle soup which is a good value for the cost. Not great but not terrible. Today I ordered the sashimi box. I was soooo disappointed. The sashimi was sliced so thin. I finished it feeling like I hadn’t had anything to eat. Long story short, steer clear of the sashimi. It’s just not worth it.

Supermarket-quality rolls and a bland seaweed salad. Maybe I should have tried the udon…

Tokyo Lunch Box is a fantastic place to grab your sushi while on the go. Don’t be phased by the inconspicuous exterior, you’ll be pleasantly surprised once you’re inside. The cashier will openly greet you as you decide between getting the salmon roll or the udon noodle soup. Despite being in the heart of the Loop, the place never gets insanely busy. It’s perfectly realistic to grab your sushi, a seat and spend some time people watching on VanBuren.

I’ve noticed that a lot of you have given this place 3 stars or even less. Well those people are just the sushi snobs of la salle. Ignore them and experience yourself. Tokyo Lunch Box Is The Tokyo Best! Why you ask??? BECAUSEOFTHE PRiCE ANDTHE QUANTiTY. SUPPLYANDDEMAND. FiNANCE. ECONOMiCS. PS this place calls udon soup UDONG soup, DONT get confused, the are the SAME. PSSDONOTGET the vegetable udon because you get SKIMPED. You dont get any XTRAVEGETEABLES! You would be better off ordering the VEGETABLETEMPURA its the SAMEPRICE plus you get tempura nd if u dont like tempura than ur just alone!!! P. S. I lived in TOKYOSO I KNOWUSSUP

When I’m feeling sick, TLB&C is my go-to spot(either this location or the one depper in the heart of the Loop). Most people come here for their udon soup, hilariously spelled U-Dong. Skip the Ken’s U-Dong(which has beef and chicken) for the seafood one, which is cheaper and has squid, mussels, and more, and be sure to ask for it spicy. It’s not the most delicious soup in the city, and you’re definitely paying that Loop premium compared to Chinatown or Argyle. But for when you have a cold(or it’s just really cold in Chicago), it has the potential to be the perfect lunch spot.

Did not like. I ordered a salmon-donburi and it came with copious amounts of sushi rice with 8 very thin slices of salmon on top. It was over 10 dollars, and the interior of Tokyo Lunch Boxes didn’t lend to a comforting environment in which you were purchase raw fish.

Good for udon soup. There are better sushi options nearby. The spicy udon soup is good, particularly the veggie. As for the other types, the meat is typically overcooked and tough. The«tempura» veggies look more like they’ve been beer-battered than tempura-fried. But the noodles themselves are toothsome and the broth is savory. It’s great on a cold day or when you have a cold. The premade teriyaki bowls look extremely unappetizing under the heat lamp, so I haven’t tried them. The rolls are adequate – quite on par with prepackaged grocery store sushi. If you go in the last half hour they are open, you can buy what’s left at 2-for-1 prices, but best of luck to you trying to figure out when they’re going to close. The sign on the door is certainly not reliable. All that aside, it’s very quick and on the same block as my office. Those factors keep this place on my regular lunch list.

Tokyo Lunchboxes serves up pre-made sushi to go, in a wide range of rolls. Previously, I’ve just stopped in for sides of rice whenever I have leftovers from home that need a bed of rice. They’ve always been very nice and quick with the grains here! Recently stopped in and grabbed a pre-made large serving of their Rainbow Rolls and the rolls did not dissapoint. Similar to Walgreens, or any to-go sushi place, Tokyo has rolls in plastic containers, all ready to Grab ‘n’ Go. I wouldn’t have minded a little bit of ingredients or explanation on the packaging, and had to pop open a menu to see what was included. The Rainbow Rolls were a tasty mouthful– I hate getting sushi for lunch and being hungry an hour later! With a Vitamin Water, my order was less than $ 10. A Nice Price for a Loop lunchin’ worker bee. Tokyo Lunchboxes also has a small alcohol menu for dine-in, and they can do Catering, as well.

The service is fast, it takes 3mins to get my udon. they are all very nice and friendly, I like them! Taste is good enough. I ordered the beef noodle, I like the flavor, the portion is average. not big bowl of udon like other restaurants… Price is reasonable, $ 7 before tax for most noodles. cheaper if you order the vegetable one…

Upon walking into the Tokyo lunch box, the sushi chef always greets me and hands me a free sample of a sushi roll. I’ve never met a free sushi roll I did not like! The food here is good, healthy, and affordable. For less than $ 6, I can get an avocado roll and miso soup. It doesnt sound very filling, but it is. And its delicious. Service here is very fast and friendly. The worst part of eating here can be the occassional homeless person walking in and asking for money or walking up to you to say random things. Of course, this isn’t the restaurant’s fault.
