I got the worst service at The Vibe that I have ever received at a nightclub at The Vibe. On March 19, 2011, I decided to come to The Vibe to celebrate my birthday. I started planning for the trip 2 weeks in advance. I had a flyer made telling everyone they had to RSVP to get in free, to tell them of the strict dress code, everything. I RSVP’d for myself and others leading up to that day. On March 19, 2011 I arrived at The Vibe at around 10:45pm. The front door girl was very rude. I asked for a manager to come out and she said she would and never did. A promoter came out and wanted to give me a «deal» and let us in for $ 10 instead of the $ 20. I was incensed because I was told I could enter for free and it was my birthday, I did not need that kind of drama. I ended up leaving. I would not suggest the Vibe to anyone.

Well… I just wasn’t that impressed. Maybe I’m just beyond the going out years. Idk. I’m from New Orleans and have been living in Chi for almost 3 years but had never been to a black club in Chi before. I know that sounds crazy but I’m in professional school and just too busy. There are like 10 black ppl in the entire school and it’s just hard to round up ppl to go out. Needless to say, after taking my board examination I decided I was going out. It was a Saturday night and old school night. We RSVPed via email but little did we know we had to print the email in order for It to be acknowledged. So whatever, I didn’t care, I came pretty far to have a good time. The club is pretty nice but maybe they should better define old school might. The first DJ was horrible … Repeated songs and played music that just wasnt meant for dancing. Tthe second DJ came on at about 12:30a. He was a lot better and really got the party jumping and sent the old sugar bears and old ladies home for the night. The highlight of this night was the Dougie Fresh was in the building! It was my second time ever seeing Dougie in person so I was hyped. It turned my not so great night into the perfect night.

I’m not really a «club» person, but this is one that I’ll check out again. I went with a friend, last minute, for my bday(just something to do). Although the women out numbered the men to an insane degree the night I was there, I still liked the atmosphere. It wasn’t very crowded, and all of the security guys there were nice and professional. The drinks left me unimpressed and the music was just okay, but atmosphere is most important to me. I didn’t see any teenie boppers with skirts that show their livers on stripper poles. No fights. It seemed like a classy place, without the vainglory when I was there. So, I hope my next experience is just as pleasant.

I attended this venue for a New Years Eve event. The promoter(s) did not do a good job organizing the event. This venue is not set up for big parties. There was one main bar operating and limited seating. Maybe the promoters/event planners just did a crappy job with logistics but either way I will not be going to the Vibe ever again!!! The main event promoter was rude along with the hostesses. If it were not for the cool bartenders and the great performance the night would have been a total bust. Save your money if they are charging to get in. You would probably have a better time a your neighborhood bar!

This place is my heart(I wrote the same thing about Shrine. don’t believe me? Go read it and vote it something good or something). I went to Shrine for a the sister of a friend’s friend on a Saturday. I had no idea what to expect. I was told this is the old Crobar. So, I went for it, although I had never even been to the old Crobar. I lucked up and found a parking space down the street. yeah, I had to give the dude 4 bucks, but whatever, that’s CHEAP considering there are a million clubs in this area and parking can be pretty sucky. So, I walk to the entrance, and there’s a 20 dollar cover. Whatever, not a big deal. Paid the cover, go in and I see some fineness that is the many men that are in this place. So many locks, so many waves, so many men. UGH. Anyway, my friends are in VIP, so eventually, i make it in there. The music was popping. After a double shot of patron, so am I. LOLOL. That line is for the humor of this review ONLY. I don’t be popping stuff in the club. Shots are typically priced, 10 bucks. I bought a double, that was 20. Then, I downed that. So, next time I go to the bar, this bartender thought I said give me 2 double shots of Patron, so they did. However, I said, give me one double. So, guess what this AMAZING person did? Yep, gave me a double… FORFREE! So, that’s 6 shots in about 2hrs. I’m really on the dance floor now, especially when they break out the reggae. My ish! Wait! What is that??? «That girl is poiiiiison… Poison» Yes! They threw it BACK! I love when the DJ mixes it up. I’m saying, folks have to be 21 to get in here, many of us are 25 – 35, like we don’t want to hear WACKAFLACKALAME all the time. So, this was nice. Overall, The Vibe is classy, serious eye candied up, and my speed… especially when I have 6 shots of patron in me, and that bottle of Sarracco Moscato I had before I left the house. HEHE. I will be back. Hopefully with my partner in crime.

OK, so I went to VIBE for the first time ever with a group of girlfriends for on of our friends birthday. I did not like it because… 1. Originally our group was 18 but only 10 where actually in line(the others were trying to find parking). We tell them at the door we are gonna get bottle service. You would think that by knowing we was spending some dough we would of gotten treated just a tab better. 2. Even though we were spending $ 1500 on bottle service, we still had to wait in line to get in and pay $ 20. 3. Then when we were inside, the SNOTTY hostess gave us such a freakin hassle!!! are you fuckin serious. If I had a club and you were spending that much you better believe your gonna get walked right in the you VIP section. I WOULDNEVERINMYLIFESPENDANOTHERDOLLARONVIBE… I did like the club itself, music was poppin!!! Common was there performing. Looking and sounding good as always.

The place is OK, I know Crobar was on the way out but I did notice alot of the old employees still there. Vibe is more of a black club, ok with me. The 2 times I have been there the club experienced sound problems, hope they fix it. Please stop playing all the vulgar hip hop. I like to see the talent they are bringing out. I will go for special events.

I went here last night(Sat) to celebrate my bday. I had called and had also visited their website, AND their FB page, which said that men were $ 10 before midnite, ladies free. Ok, cool. Well when we got there, the snotty b at the door charged us $ 20 for men and $ 10 for ladies. Obviously it wasn’t about the money, $ 20 is pretty typical for downtown clubs, but the simple fact that they give out misinformation. Whatever. LIke I said, it was the principle of the thing. Bouncers were cool, other than the girls at the door who were rude and bitchy, I found the ppl who worked there to be chill. We came around 11 and it was just getting started; the music was BANGING all night. Very mixed crowd, lots of beautiful people. By about 1 it was really poppin off; got crowded. If you come after then, be prepared to stand in line, and pay alot for parking. We were successful with street parking, but had friends who tried to come later and couldn’t find any. Drinks were strong and delicious. The club itself is very nice, chill atmosphere, nice décor, bottom level has a big dance floor. Upper level is VIP; it was a tad overrated but aren’t they all; either way, it was cool to look down and ppl watch, while also having plenty of room to dance. There was no way in hell I was paying for bottle service(FYI a bottle of Grey Goose was $ 300 for 4 ppl) but never had to wait for a drink at the bar. Smoking was a little area in the front next to the entrance. Overall the club is a nice size, with a classy and fun vibe, great music and drinks. I enjoyed myself but definitely took off for their lack of professionalism with the information re: the cover. I also agree that their dress code is vague, at best. O yeah, one last thing, they have no freakin sign on the outside, so you don’t even know you’re there. theres a bunch of bars and clubs on the block; TIP, it is right across from Whole Foods, next to VIP’s.

I got with The Vibe last night(8÷6÷10) to see the man, Raphael Saadiq! We had a ball and my knees are still aching from dancing my azz off. It was a great and memorable start to a celebratory weekend. The Vibe = I love the atmosphere and would definitely return for a concert because it just doesn’t get any better than the intimacy of seeing your favorite artists so up close and personal. The Drinks * 2 peach martinis that had me feeling S E X Y as a motherfreaker, though I feel that way all the time. LOL! The Show ~ was hosted by V103’s Ramonski Love and Ray Ray in his white suit did not disappoint. RL announced that channel 7’s Cheryl Burton was in the audience, really? Most memorable moments: Dancing my azz off with the Mr.; when big bro and former bandmate Dwayne came from behind me, out the audience and got up on stage with Ray Ray and sang a few notes; seeing Ray Ray & Dwayne embrace; shaking Ray Ray’s hand; snapping a close-up of Ray Ray’s shoes(see pix) I had a FUNKYGOODTIME at THEVIBE!

RUDE… So I call ahead to set-up bottle service and the bottle service hostess feel the need to remind me that I have to buy a bottle for VIP… hmmm, I swear that’s what I said I wanted to do when I called. So I get there, just myself and one other girlfriend and I let the man know that I have a table reserved for bottle service… he looks and says young lady you have to wait for the rest of your group… no sir there are just two of us… just two of you… my first thought was this… why is it okay for men to come alone or with just one other person and buy bottles, but for women it is abnormal. I want the same treatment that you give the men who buy bottles, I deserve it, my money spends just like their money! But I won’t even be worried because I won’t be spending my money in Vibe again!

So long Crobar, hello Vibe. So first things first, if you’re going to enforce a dress code then BESPECIFIC on your party info page dammit! «Dress To Impress» and«Trendy» can mean a lot of things to a lot of different people, so if you’re requiring a collar and no sneakers then freakin’ say so up front. Thanks to my buddy’s negotiating skills we were able to get some, but not all of our group past the velvet ropes. The club itself was decent inside, big dance floor and an upper level with plenty of leather couches. I’ll admit, I did like the music(mainly Hip-Hop, and not just your Top 40 variety), but if you can’t party with all your friends next to you then what’s the point.
