I was looking for a small snack around the Little Italy area when I stumbled upon this place during my walk. The inside had this cute, modern, and clean atmosphere that drew me fairly easily. I was sad that they ran out of pistachio cupcake because that looked soooo good! I ended up getting the coconut macaroon and chocolate cupcake with strawberry frosting. From what I understood, you can make your cupcake fancy with your choice of frosting and toppings(e.g. sprinkles, mochi, candies). They definitely did not cheat you out on the frosting because despite my mini cupcake, the frosting was double the size of the cupcake. The chocolate cupcake was not too overly sweet and moist. Wasn’t a huge fan of the coconut macaroon but that was only because it was on the chewier side(I like soft things). Overall, cute place and come check it out!

It wasn’t the worst, but definitely not the best. I like the fact that you’re able to customize the cupcakes. That’s a unique idea and you can get creative and put your personal twist on it. As far as taste goes, I can say that the cupcake itself was not bad, the icing, however, had a moussey texture and taste. The customer service was so-so. We ordered a few cupcakes for a birthday and one of the boxes was kind of greasy — caked with icing. They didn’t have a bag to carry our order in either. I’m not sure if they’re used to smaller orders or what, but it was somewhat of an inconvenience because on the walk back to the car, the cupcake boxes kept popping open. Not cool. I don’t know if I’d ever go back. I would encourage people to try the place out because they seemed to have an interesting menu aside from the cupcakes.

Came in today expecting the same quality service but the girl at the counter made me feel rushed and did not even let me choose a frosting. Disappointed.

What a super cool little bakery, tucked away in Little Italy. Great cupcakes and malts, etc. Fun place to take the kids for a special treat. A little pricey and would have liked for them to have at least one gluten free option and/a diabetic treat.

I have been coming here since the opened. I have always gotten the red velvet or salted caramel(which DONOT disappoint), but today they were out of cream cheese frosting. I decided to go with the everything nice cupcake with buttercream frosting. OHWOW! Thank goodness I moved, because I would eat one every day! Love the atmosphere and the the malts are delish too! Wish it wasn’t so pricey, but it’s worth it!

Yea the service at this place is not so great. One girl was sitting around talking to some dude out on the floor while the other girl kept asking her for help with my order. My order wasn’t that big, just a cup cake, ice cream and a malt. But let me tell you… those cupcakes and custard mmmmmm just so yuuuummmmo! I haven’t had cupcakes and custard this good in a long time. Too bad for the service, I would have really given this place a 5 star if it wasn’t for the lazy co-worker.

I came in here by accident while visiting from out of town. I’m not into sweets and was just looking to grab a coffee, but was struck by the idea of having a treat. I’m glad I did! Had the cinnamon bun and it was spectacular. It was not that sweet, which I really appreciated. It was light and flaky. Didn’t feel like I just ate a sugar coated brick of dough. Coffee was served in a french press!

Ok, if you want to have a dessert table for any occasion like a wedding, which is what we did, this is the place to come. Monica is awesome to work with!!! We had a tasting at the bakery which was amazing as I left with a belly ache from shoving my face with all the awesomeness they have there. They even detailed recipes to our taste and preferences. Make sure whatever you do DONOT under estimate quantity because our table was devoured in an hour. So if you want an exceptional sweet table for any event make sure you call THESINNYPIGGY you wont be disappointed!!! This coming from a very picky couple as well… Great Job Manica we will be back and I will post pictures of our table soon!

I really wanted to like this place but the best way I can describe it is «clunky». You walk in and its cute décor wise and since the cupcake case is the first thing you see I immediately thought it was a cupcake shop. Unfortunately, for me this place is no Molly’s. I was given the run down as I’m pretty sure the lady behind the counter knew I was perplexed by the naked cupcakes, they just had the bottoms no frosted ones except the cupcake«mannequins» to show what you a couple options. She described that the cupcakes could be filled and topped anyway you would like even with candy. At this point I likened this place to a yogurt shop where you start with the base and get creative. The only problem with that for me was, when it comes to cupcakes I get lazy and I just want to grab the one that looks best and has the most appealing flavor combo. So that’s a problem for me, too many choices, and you end up with a hodge podge mess that doesn’t even go well together. They do offer malts and s’mores which may have been the better route to go. Another thing I noticed was that the lady had to keep going in the back to get ingredients, i.e. Nutella, reeses Peanut butter(out of a jar to center fill my chocolate cake). I know this sounds like a really terrible experience but it truly wasnt, as I mentioned I just think this place has to work out some kinks. If you’re going to go with a build your own option, I think a menu of frosting cake and topping choices would be really helpful or maybe suggested cupcake combos. Also for 4 cupcakes it ran me close to $ 20.00, which seems really high to me. I will say though, the chocolate cupcake had a great texture and flavor so they’re on to something, the buttercream texture was a little off to me, not exactly creamy enough but tasted fine. Lastly, I like a cupcake shop to take me all of five min to get in and out before I can talk myself out of all those calories, this place does not give that kind of quick stop experience, took a while actually and I was the only person there, part of the reason was I couldn’t choose toppings quickly, so I can’t imagine how it would be if it was busy, probably a long wait. I hope they work out the bugs, because I love small businesses especially I’m a neighborhood like tri-taylor that I love. Good luck!

I would like to start off my review with all the positive things because I was not happy with my experience. First I would like to say that it’s a really cute shop nice seating area nice and quiet. Also, I love the concept of build your own cupcake. Now to talk about what I came for, I went to the Skinny Piggy for cupcakes because they had such good reviews. First off the cashier wasn’t even present when I walked in, when she did come out she didn’t acknowledge me. Then I walked toward the register and said hello, she said I’m finishing off a order I will be right with you. The cupcakes on display didn’t look appetizing they weren’t decorated because of the build your own purpose I guess. The cupcakes themselves were really one noted. I ordered a strawberry cupcake and a salted Carmel cupcake I didn’t like the fact that the cupcakes were not filled the only thing salted Carmel on the cupcake was the little Carmel they put on the top the rest of the cupcake was plain had absolutely no flavor and then the strawberry cupcake I ate it and asked myself what flavor was that supposed to be. All the icings was the same texture and flavor who ever does that baking here needs to go back to the drawing board. I would not go back to this place nor do I recommend this place. I really don’t like giving bad reviews but this place was awful I’m really disappointed.

I happened upon this place after a meeting in the West Loop. The décor is minimalist and excellent, and the selection of cupcakes is eye-popping. But as if that wasn’t good enough, prepare to have your cupcakes frosted. That is not a euphemism — they customize your dessert with frosting and toppings ranging from fruit snacks to chocolate-covered popcorn. Metropolis Coffee on hand is an added bonus. Would come back for sure.

I’m in love with this place! I stop in twice a week, the cinammon bun is to die for! I’m writing this and planning my stop in at 4pm, lol. Monica and her sister who manages the shop are great. They always give me samples to help with my decision making, they are so helpful and never rush me, I feel like it’s family serving me, feels great! They have butter cream, whipped cream, and cream cheese frostings! I’ve so far sent 15 co-workers they are daily customers of Monica and Lulu, I can say that I’ve influenced the pistacho, piña colada, cinamon bun, and the everything nice! I’m a bully lmao! I can’t wait to stop in today. I’m a mental health councelar at Rush, and it’s hard for me to get lunch in because of how busy I am with patients. But let me tell you Skinny Piggy makes my day any day of the week, the staff is lovely. I’m sure all of you already know, I’m excited to go back!

This place is AWESOME if you’re looking for a unique, personalized, and customizable dessert option, especially malts with ground up cupcakes. The basic concept is that you can make any sort of dessert(cupcakes, cookies, brownies, malts, sundaes, cheesecake) from the multitude of ingredients that have available to you(different drizzles, candy toppings, frostings, ice creams, cakes, etc). Personally, I really enjoyed getting a malt made with vanilla ice cream, a ground up red velvet cupcake, crushed graham crackers, and cream cheese frosting with a caramel drizzle on top. It was phenomenal, reminded me a lot of the texture of Portillo’s chocolate cake shakes, but with a taste that was more catered to what I like! For those of you who don’t like having too many choices — you can always go with their menu of recommended combinations/items, or you can ask for advice from their really friendly staff. The only downfall of this place is that they close pretty early(7PM), so it’s hard to go there after dinner dates or at late night hours. If they could expand their hours that would be great!

I was looking for somebody who could help me prepare the sweet table for my lil one birthday, already having my hands full and time ticking, I was looking up on a lot of options which would make my things easier. then came across Skinny piggy, met Monika in the next couple of days, I told her how I wanted the sweet table and there she was so accomodating, showing us pictures of various candies, giving us samples of freshly baked cupcakes with crème cheese filling, samples of frosting, we thoroughly enjoyed the experience and in about 20 minutes, i knew my sweet table was set and was in a very good hands! On the D-day, we had it delivered, were ontime, we ordered brownies, mini macaroons, mini cupcakes, cake pops, choclate chip cookies, rock candies all of them perfect and received the way we ordered, my guests loved them and we had a empty table by the end of the party. yeyyy!!!

This place is amazing! You get to build your own cupcake! It’s is such a unique, awesome idea. You can pick the cupcake flavor, fillings, toppings you want. It’s so much better than going into other pastries and having to get pre-made flavor combos. Not just that but their cupcakes are fantastic! I bought some for my friends and they LOVED them too. Overall, 5⁄5 experience with them: Nice staff, great service, unique place, and delicious cupcakes.

I was having a bad day & saw this place on my way home so I stopped in(since I’ve heard my friends brag about it). I ordered a delicious chocolate cupcake customized with chocolate ganache, cream cheese frosting & sprinkles. It was awesome how many topping selections they had including frostings. The service was pleasant & I left with a smile.

Monica, the owner was very welcoming and friendly and waited on us personally. My 5-year old and 2.5-year old daughters enjoyed their vanilla ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. I wasn’t even in the mood for dessert until I tasted the strawberry cheesecake Monica masterfully created for my husband. I decided on the red velvet malt which included red velvet cherries and a whole red velvet cupcake – half mixed into the malt and half placed carefully on top with cream cheese frosting. I needed a spoon for the malt because a straw couldn’t handle it. I pretty much got weak in the knees with each bite… It was that good. Skinny Piggy is a hip dessert spot with a hint of childhood whimsy from Monica’s blue highlights to the rainbow array of candy on the counter. Free wifi, coffee, tea and modern table and seating options make this a perfect spot for all ages. Will definitely be returning.

Today is the soft opening of the remodeled and reconcepeted skinny piggy. The store is completely redone. The candy jars have been transitioned into a create your own cupcake concept. You can choose from an assortment of cupcake flavors(strawberry, mixed berries, vanilla, etc.) and add your customized frosting(e.g. salted caramel, chocolate, cream cheese, etc) and choice of topping like marshmallows, nuts, or cherries. Alternatively, those who have a hard time making choices can opt for a house special such as the chocolate with chocolate cream cheese frosting cupcake which I tried. It was very rich and full bodied. You can totally taste the cream cheese which balanced the chocolate perfectly. Very very yummy!
