Best football/soccer bar in the city. I’m also biased because I’m an Arsenal fan and it very much feels like an Arsenal bar. But seriously, globe is like a family in many ways. Early morning 6 a.m. Guinness in hand, you and 100+ fellow fans singing and cheering. Bartenders are superb. Service is always great. An especially great selection of beers too. Definitely one of the places I miss most in Chicago and can’t wait to visit when I’m there next.

When is Unilocal going to create a «uncheck-in» button? I cannot be the only Unilocaler with a fast trigger finger! Well… I came here last Friday(not the other place I checked in) for drinks. There were a good amount of TVs, our server was attentive, and the drinks were priced fairly. When I asked for a splash of ginger in my Jack… I got the perfect splash just how I like it. No complaints.

The food gave me food poisoning so I’ll probably never go back. Been in here a few times, the staff can be pretty rude too.

When I lived in North Center, we’d hit The Globe for darts or dancing. And now that I live in Andersonville, we visit for soccer games(EPL, La Liga, USA, etc.) I forgot how much fun it is to roll into The Globe early in the morning with the hordes of fans, order a pint and some grub, and cheer on your team with like-minded folk. Also, the food is pretty stellar for pub fare, despite their tiny kitchen! Check this stalwart out, you won’t be disappointed, especially if you’re a soccer fan.

This is a hard place to rate. The food is okay, but nothing I’d come for. The beer selection is good, but not exactly a place to geek out at. However, as a place to watch soccer, I’ve never been anyplace close. The crowd is passionate, but you can sit next to somebody cheering for the opposite side and still feel welcome. The game you want will probably be on, and you won’t be forced to watch some Serie A game when you want to watch La Liga, as has happened to me elsewhere.

Great place for a soccer match. Used to be really crowded for the popular games but they added on an addition sometime back. Good food too and kind service.

I’ve been here numerous times but walked in one night interestingly enough to learn about the new lounge room. Not that it’s crazy nice or anything but it’s a different vibe from the original room. Only reason I want to write this up is to give Paul a shout out. He was working the lounge side when I visited and I swear it was like I walked into my music playlist. There was plenty Wu but what sealed the deal was hearing Lost Boyz — Renee, The Firm — Desperados, Big L — Deadly Combination. These just aren’t singles you would hear while out, especially at The Globe I thought. The person I visited with swore up and down it was a DJ in the original bar until I had to shut that way of thinking down. Sure enough I had to single out who I thought it was… motherfuckin’ Paul! Respect man. Other than that it’s a pretty chill spot. Shit load of TV’s still on soccer if you know the deal. Felt I was overcharged on the whiskeys I requested but the tracks kept me in a good mood. I feel like the music night I experienced here was a one time chance but it was dope especially since my visit that night was spontaneous. Salute.

Great bar if you are a soccer fan. Service might be a bit slow on game day but it’s understandable. Good spot to catch your team play and love the amount of fans who come out on gameday. Had the Eggs Florentine with poached eggs and loved it. Come on United

The service is always very friendly and they have one of the best selections of beers in the city. It’s the place to go to watch soccer games with a cold pint from their large selection of domestic and international beers.

Dave is amazing! Always makes us feel welcome. Very rare to see a bar back with the personality of a bartender! He needs a raise. All in all great neighborhood bar. Love this place

We come here semi-regularly for trivia night with friends. Great beer list and the food is pretty good, too — typical bar food. We love the trivia host, Dave!

I’ve been going to the Globe for an age now, and it’s probably the best place in town to go for a soccer fan. The food is decent, and the cocktails are nothing special, but they’ve got a good beer menu that keeps expanding all the time.(It leans pretty heavily on stuff from the U.K., but that’s not as big a problem as it once was.) It’s also huge for footy fans: open at crazy hours to make sure you can catch the best international matches, and they operate a shuttle bus that gets you to and from the Fire games. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is noisily enthusiastic. There’s better bars, but there’s no better bars for the ultras crowd.

Fun soccer bar with a wide selection of beers, but the service is sub par & food nothing to write home about. If there were more soccer bars in the area I do not think The Globe would be close to four stars. Although the atmosphere is fun during soccer games I think The Globe needs to improve their service if they want to keep competing.

This place is great. Just a huge, no frills bar that plays every type of sport around. It is known for its soccer programming though. I love being in a place that has so many t.v.s and so many different sports playing that I never have to watch one crappy mindless commercial. Halftime for the Bears? No problem, Napoli and Milan are playing a Serie A game a few feet away. The crowd is typically diverse and friendly. The beer list is quite large and the prices are great. I was drinking 5 $ 16 ounce Oberon’s last time I was in, awesome. Unpretentious and friendly with good prices The Globe is a place for serious fans to watch a game.

I enjoy traveling. My wife and I try to get out every now and again. When we do, although rare, we will sometimes stumble into a place that is some friendly, fun, and fantastic it feels like ‘home’. The Globe is, without a doubt, one of these places. First, a little pretext. In all honestly, we were there on purpose. We are associated with a soccer supporter’s club that was having a meet-up there. When we arrived we were greeted by fellow fans all enjoying the spectating. No one was crass or rude. Everyone was respectful and got along fine. Our bartender was great! The bar was packed but she made it a point to try to get everyone taken care of. Even if you were three people back. I have no idea how she kept everyone’s tab in order, but when we received our bill, it was spot on. The other staffers were kind and quick to clean up tables and make room for others to sit ASAP. I cannot stress enough how busy this place was. The way they maneuvered about so swiftly — I’ll never know. The good times did end with just the staff though, the people there were AMAZING! Their patrons were quick to give a smile or chime in conversationally with us. We had never met them before, but they made sure to make us feel welcomed at The Globe. Regardless if you want a watch a game, have a pint, or a meal… I recommend — HIGHLY — that you stop by The Globe. You will not be disappointed. It’s vast with plenty of space and plenty of friendly faces willing make you enjoy your time there and in Chicago. If you read this — thank you for an absolutely PERFECT time and experience.

This review pertains solely to ordering delivery through Grubhub. As a restaurant, it’s really bad form to list yourself as available for deliveries and to only cancel an order more than an hour after it was placed because you had no delivery service that night, as it turned out. We had to totally reconfigure dinner plans and this was not the first time this has happened here. This place should decide if they want to offer delivery or not and stick with that. We’ll probably try again in the future because the food is always top-notch and there are certain items we crave. Get it together, Globe! Signed, a borderline-hangry person

No shortage of TVs, no shortage of beers, but good luck figuring out which one to drink… Ah, please add a Beer style column please so I don’t have to ask 40 question before finding a delicious high ABVIPA to drink.

Great Soccer Bar, close to home and friendly service and reasonable priced. As for the food, just okay, from what I have tried. I had a burger that was way over cooked, when I ordered it medium rare. The Scottish Eggs were served in the traditional matter; egg, wrapped with sausage, breaded and fried. My issues with their version is that they serve them luke warm and the eggs are hard boiled, not good and gooy! Best place for these is Owens & Engines, they are So good! Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be back for a game and drinks, maybe even a sandwich. I just don’t think your should expect too much from the kitchen. I’ll make sure to put in an update, if I learn of any new items I can suggest. I’d really like to make this s four star place.

I’ve been to The Globe several times for drinks, but just recently tried their food. And it was really good! The Globe is known for their gigantic beer menu with beers from, you guessed it, around the globe. And it’s true. They have a very extensive beer menu with all kinds of offerings from near and far, far away. There have been a few times when several beers were not available though, so not sure how accurate the book-o-beers really is. I started with a cup of the veggie chili and then had the turkey burger with curly fries. The veg chili was great. Hearty and flavorful topped with cheese, sour cream, and of course the entire packet of accompanying oyster crackers. The turkey burger and curly fries were both delicious. They done it right! The bar itself is a cool, big old space that goes back quite a ways. They also have a side room where(based on our visit) they can hold private events. This place would be a nice option for a large group, and there are TVs visible from practically every single seat in the place, so sports watchers will be happy.

I go back and forth with this place. If you’re an obnoxious soccer fan, this is the spot for you. Hell, if you’re an obnoxious sports fan, this is the spot for you. Service can be spotty. Actually, the only time service was great was when we were in the back bar area by ourselves. The air conditioning hadn’t been working and everyone was crowded up front watching the Blackhawks game. We watched it in the back, with no one around to annoy us by speaking. Suckers. The only reason I liked this bar was for the food. However, even that is spotty. Fries are either over done or soggy. Burgers are way too salty. Salads have wilted lettuce. On the other hand, when things are good, they tend to be good all around. I think I’m done giving them chances for awhile. People like it because they’re open at 7am or 9am or whenever those«important» soccer games are on and they can drink. If that’s your thing, you’ll enjoy The Globe.
