I really really hate to give this great place a 1 star review because it is NOT because of the food or the service. I am a dialysis patient and I walked 5 blocks(10 blocks round trip) to come here for lunch just now after checking the hours here on Unilocal.I was met with a sign that said«Closed For The Season». To say I was disappointed would be an understatement. It would be so easy to just change the hours here in Unilocal.I look forward to their return and in no means want to tarnish their reputation but bring this to their attention so it can be remedied. Best dogs in the area.

Under new management! The guy working there is super personable and nice. He went to Hotdog University at the Vienna Beef Factory. The dogs are snappy, the relish is bomb, the bun was a little soggy but still fluffy and delicious. I’m excited that this place is in my neighborhood and reopened!

My sister and I used to walk here and take out hot dogs to the park down the road. I’ve only ever had the Chicago dog and the chili cheese dog. Both were classic. If you happen to be on Lawrence you should stop here for an authentic Chicago experience.

Hot dog bun was a bit stale but otherwise the dog was good. The Beef was great. The cheese tamale was disgusting.

Must try. New owner back to Vienna Beef dogs. A great neighborhood joint. Better hours. Just try it. If you like hot dogs you will enjoy. Chili is good and I get the chili dogs or the chili boat

I don’t claim to be a professor of hot dogs, but i have had quite a few in my day. Most people probably think all hot dogs, polish’s, coneys and such are the same where ever you go. Well they are dead wrong i have had many days ruined by a bad meal on a bun. I have been past this tiny little shack of wiener wisdom many times before stopping in today for lunch. I had a bad craving for a couple of Chicago style polish’s and decided today i would give The Dog House there first chance. God damn am i glad i did. I walked up on a rainy afternoon eyed the menu, and was already happy one side dogs and polish and the other side tamales. Keep it simple. The two guys working inside the place just big enough to fit them and there tools of cased meats were not only a couple of true Chicago guys they shared a true love of there craft and pure customer service. The older of the two told me it would be four minutes since they cook each one when ordered, and then talked a great hot dog talk while i waited. Now finally the only thing that matters the product. What i got were two plump polish dogs with not only all the trimmings, but fresh veggies on it in all the right amounts. The younger guy even topped off my Coke since i had drank a bit of it while shooting shop talk. Great job The Dog House!!!

Maybe it is «off season», but wow, I had a crappy hotdog here. I love places like this, a little trailer on a street corner, I mean this should be a hotdog mecca. What I got instead was a limp tasteless dog on an old dry bun. The tomato was soggy, but I know tomatoes are kinda off in general right now. I can only hope that when they get busy the quality picks up, but for now … yuck!

This is a true Hot Dog Stand. It is a little building/trailer next to a auto repair shop. I had the hot dog, tamale, and Diet Coke. The hot dog was very good. It had nice flavor and was done just right. The toppings were fresh. The pickle was thin with a nice taste. The tomatoes were pretty good for being out of season in our area. The tamale was your regular Chicago hot dog stand tamale, but was good. Next time I think I want to try it with chili. The only disadvantage might be the lack of a eating area. I will be returning here again.
