I found this place on a delivery website. I dont reccomend it. I spent quite a bit of money for substandard food. Fries were soggy. Crabcake appitizer was small and fishy tasting and the dessert i ordered was crème brûlée and it was runny and poorly presented. I would never ever ever ever ever ever order this food again. I could have eaten better food at mcdonalds. Gross and disappointing. 38.00 dollars i would have rather spent on better food. BEWARE!!!

Had the Halibut and it was awesome. Good bourbon selection and Elaine was a delightful server. Highly recommend this place.

Tried brunch here on Sunday. Got fairly busy around 1pm. Nice umbrellas to keep tables shady on the patio. Bloody Mary was good but didn’t need the beer back. Bellini was yummy. Tried the short rib sandwich, which was okay. Fries were delish. Reminded me of fries from AL’s beef. Also tried the French toast with berries and spiced maple syrup. Very tasty, but simple. Would go back to try other brunch items. Tab around $ 40 for to entrees and two drinks.

Mostly good experiences here. Live in the neighborhood and had one bad brunch where food was subpar and service worse, but my other three visits were at dinner and everything was fantastic. Short ribs are incredible… so tender and rich. Tried something different each time though and everything has been delicious and appropriately served and priced in my opinion. Cocktails are good. Atmosphere very cozy, great date spot.

Great atmosphere, service and food! Last night was my 2nd time there and the food did not disappoint. This is a great restaurant for a date or for the entire family. Highlights: rigatoni, short rib, Brussel sprouts

I went here for brunch on a Saturday afternoon during the cold, harsh winter of 2014. My friend and I got there a little after 2, so it was later than a typical brunch time but we were not expecting the place to be completely empty. That was a little odd to us, but not at all indicative of the meal. We took advantage of the bloody mary deal they had($ 9 bottomless bloody marys with your entrée.) I liked the bloody mix and the pickled vegetables were interesting. For my meal, I had the chicken and waffles and it was fantastic! You need to check this place out for brunch. I hope it sticks around! For a more detailed review and delicious photos, check out my blog write-up here:

I really wanted to like this place. We were going to a show at the Atheneaum down the street, so we went for an early dinner on Friday. The place was virtually empty, but the staff was friendly and attentive and the doors were open and generally there was a nice vibe. Everything else… not so good. We had four cocktails total(gin gimlet, billionnaire something-or-other, martini and a Manhattan). I’m no drink snob, but when you pay $ 12 for a drink you want it to be something special. My corner bartender could have made these. There were icy bits in two drinks where there shouldn’t have been icy bits. Manhattan was watery. Our server(who was delightful, might I add) asked if I wanted my martini up or on the rocks. Do martinis even come on the rocks? Food was equally unimpressive. I had the halibut with artichoke($ 22). Fish really needed salt and the celery and carrots that came with it(in a weird kind of artichoke stir fry) were crunchy. Pasta also not very good. BF said it was overcooked and needed salt. We skipped dessert bc we didn’t want to pay another $ 9 to be disappointed. Maybe we were there on an off night. Too bad.

I dined here on an early Friday evening with 3 Moms who have put kids through college. The service was outstanding in that our server was patient with the ladies’ requests and allowed us to take our time and enjoy the meal. The ambiance is very chill and it’d be a great spot for a date. The outdoor area sure seems to have potential. I’d recommend the halibut with sprouts on the side. Don’t forget to have a cheesecake. The only reason I’m not giving it 4* is the price is a bit high, even if it is right in-line with places in the neighborhood.

Great food and service with plenty of tables on the sidewalk café. The restaurant inside is super clean and nice too. I can’t wait to come back and enjoy another Sunday afternoon in the sun!

Really like the layout and it is a beautiful bar with a great wine list. the food presentation is beyond good it is great. However the food is mediocre. Bland and lacked any seasoning on the chicken or the burger. Good price point for area and similar to monkey paw just wasn’t impressed with the food. It’s a maybe

My girlfriend and I celebrated our 18 month anniversary here. I had never been to The Bentley Tavern before, but had always wanted to try it out. The cocktails being all around $ 12 was a bit much for the simplicity to them. The wine list however I thought was on point. I didn’t expect to see the amount of bottles they have. Even the beer list had plenty to offer, it was a wine night for us though. The food was absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend the scallops or duck, as they were cooked to perfection. I tried all the desserts as well. If you have to chose just one, flip a coin. I will be back to try out the rest of the menu. The Bentley Tavern is a must try if you are in the area.

We came here back in September, I think it had just opened, and had a great experience. The food was all very good and our server was great. I was a bit confused by their outfits, though? It doesn’t really go with the«theme» of the restaurant. The crab cakes were excellent — hardly any filler there! He had the duck and I had the cod and both were great. All in all it was a bit pricey.

Well this one is a tough review. I really wanted to like this place as I have heard multiple folks from the neighborhood say they like it. So we planned a dinner with several friends and were bouncing between this place and Cere’s Table up on the North side which we have been to before. So this other couple and I decided on Bentley to try something new and to see about what we have heard. Plus I can walk here so it made it an easy option for me. Atmosphere is a little off. Clean, nice looking but somewhat empty feeling. Maybe it’s a lack of booths again the walls or something but the space seems spartan to me. Cocktail list looked interesting, beer list was solid, wine list was poor. This is a bar/rest so I was not upset about the wine list. Cocktails were ok, didn’t knock my socks off but also were not terrible. $ 11 was a little high for what they were. I’m thinking 9 – 10 would be a better range. As an example, Sable which makes some of the best for cocktails is $ 12 – 13 average price and this is in a much higher cost area and the cocktails are dramatically better and made with better ingredients. If Bentley dropped the price $ 2 I think it would work for me. Beer prices were fine for solid beers. Food… mixed review here. Apps we did the perogies, baked chevre, and seared scallops. The chevre was solid, plenty of cheese and sauce, could have used a few more toast points to use(all places short you on this and I just don’t get it, it’s freaking bread!). The Perogies looked outstanding but were not cooked long enough so the shells were a bit hard in spots, appearance was solid and plate finish was nice but failed to deliver. Scallops ended up 3 medium size scallops seared with nothing going on. Felt like I went to Dominick’s and picked up some frozen scallops and seared them myself with little interest in making anything special with them. Cooked properly but lacking much flavor. Dinner… across the board everyone was«meh», ok nothing great, should have gone with our first choice. I will say that the dinner I had was probably the best of the group. It was a venison loin which was cooked properly(rare), presented well, and I wold give 3⁄5. I enjoyed it but again not a lot of ‘taste’ to the dish. I think I would describe the food as something that one of my friends who enjoys cooking would provide as he’s newer to it and just starting into more interesting efforts. I would not return as there are too many places to hit to give it another try.

Went there for dinner last night. Made a reservation two weeks prior. Upon arriving we were told the only table they could offer us was a bar height table with stools and a very small table right next to the door. There were 4 of us and two were my parents that would not be comfortable on bar stools for an entire dinner. They made us wait and then found another table. Not a good start. Wine list was almost embarrassing and red was served room temperature. Food was ok, nothing fantastic. It is a cute neighborhood restaurant, but the food is mediocre at best.

Disappointing. Food was blah. There was nothing craft about the $ 10 craft cocktail. Why does this neighborhood suck so bad restaurant wise? Good service, Brussel sprouts were flavorless, steak was a cheap cut with no marbelling, beet soup didn’t taste like anything. I’m too depressed to go on. My high hopes were dashed.

My boyfriend and I had lunch here recently. We had previously stopped in for drinks(which were strong and delicious) but decided we would try their lunch menu as well. We sat on the patio since it was so nice out. I ordered the Baby Arugula Salad and he ordered the Bentley Burger. I also had a bloody… it was just ok but the food was delicious and the portions were good. Things I love about this place: location, its adorableness, the actual bar is beautiful, outdoor seating, strong drinks, great salad options and they have Sir Kingston’s ketchup! This stuff is amazing, all-natural unlike that Heinz stuff. Wish I could find it at more restaurants. Definitely a place I recommend and will visit again.

Properly titled this place is the Bentley of neighborhood bars. The interior looks like a luxury automobile with lavish marble bar tops, sharp classy stools, and lighting that lends it self to suit the finest of Lakeview diners. The menu is upper crust as well with appetizers like diver scallops, oysters, and crab claws. Entrees are across the board of American fare featuring duck, pork shoulder, steak, chicken, lamb, cod, and of course a burger that could only be branded as Bentley. Cocktail menu is concise but clever with some creative concoctions and they sport a Chicago focused beer list for brews so it’s totally worth checking out for a drink as well. If you find yourself in this area and want something a little more sophisticated than most of Southport has to offer I’d definitely recommend a stop in here.

The décor and feel of this beautiful, quant neighborhood spot is done to perfection. Clean, crisp, candlelight and a great outdoor seating area. We enjoyed the chilled crab claws and crab cakes, both rival any steakhouse. Great! For dinner my husband enjoyed the pork shoulder over a spaeztle type noodle, very tender and flavorful, I had the steak with Brussel sprouts served with a tasty Au jus. Very good. The cheesecake was disappointing, it felt like they forgot an ingredient. Overall, drinks, food, atmosphere are exactly what this neighborhood needed. Plus, I just love the clean lines and thoughtful décor!

My husband and I were pleased to see a new restaurant open up in our neighborhood after being vacant for awhile. The look and décor of the place is great and has a nice contemporary but cozy feel. The staff are all very nice and make it feel neighborhoody although the bus boys come up too often to try and clear your plate which makes it a bit awkward when you’re just taking a break from eating. We were surprised there wasn’t a bigger beer or wine menu seeing it is a tavern but not a big deal. Food was good-French opinion soup was good but could have a bit more spice. Grilled cheese was good so no complaints there-how can you mess that up?! The steak was a bit fatty and sauce could have been better but has potential. I haven’t had brunch there but we love that place is busy and getting good traffic! It has a lot of potential and with some minor tweaks to food menu it will be great. I haven’t eaten outside yet but it would be cool to experience that when its warm out. If they want to make the place a bit busier after dinner hours they should add music and turn on the tv by the bar. Maybe they already do but that might help.
