Went in on a Saturday afternoon and the place looked like it had been raided. Few shelves and fewer products. Their turo turo area was all the way in the back and did not look fresh. So I was hoping just to get the staples(Swan’s soy sauce, oscar’s tocino, frozen lumpia etc.) They did have tocino but a different brand, no frozen lumpia and when I asked about soy sauce in general they said they were out. How does a filipino store allow themselves to become out of stock of soy sauce? I was highly disappointed in this store. The staff(I’m assuming the owners were very nice and polite). The highly rated reviews, I feel are outdated. This place may have been great once but not today(Aug 2015)

I didn’t try any of the food so this review is more for the store. This is just a little Sari-Sari store. My parents were in town and they needed Bagoong(Shrimp Paste) for the Kare-Kare they were cooking. I walked in and there were only a few shelves with products but I got what I needed. They have some baked goods from a bakery that I imagine delivers to them throughout the week. I was in and out and I got what I needed.

The best, dude. These people know my dad and me, we’re pretty frequent customers. The food here is pretty authentic Filipino food, and its delicious. It’s not expensive either. Its kinda awkward to eat in there, and I’ll give it 4 stars because of that. The store is clean, and everything is good. They have a bunch of other stuff because its an Oriental ‘Food Mart’. They have like Filipino-esque drinks, snacks, different kinds of spices, corned beef, etc., etc. The Longanisa is so pro. mmm.

I’m really picky about filipino food because I always compare it to the home cooking of my father and grandmother. With that being said, Tatay’s take out food which is located in the back of the store, is very good. I think they have the best Menudo, Kilawing and Kaldereta to go in chicago. The workers are very friendly and the store is very clean. The parking is street but easy to find.

This is a small Filipino market as well as a mini restaurant. There’s prepared food in the back and you can take it to go. The food is authentic Filipino food and is delicious! I have gone here many times when I didn’t feel like cooking dinner or when I had a craving for some Flip food! The market part is pretty small so you may not find everything you’re looking for, but they have some goodies. If you’ve never had Flip food before, come here to try it cuz it’s not too expensive and there’s a few choices of entrees to choose from.
