We are still obsessed with this place. Whatever you order, make sure you get it with al pastor. The chilaquiles are bomb, as are the tacos. Last night I had the huaraches and those were tasty too. Check it out if you’re in the area. CASHONLY!

Favorite taco place in Chicago hands down. Get the tacos the traditional way(cilantro /onions) and don’t add cheese, lettuce, etc. and make it all American. Lengua, cabeza, tripe, flank steak are the best tacos. On Sat/Sun they have birria soup which is phenomenal. Ask for their secret salsas!

My favorite Mexican food in Chicago and there are LOTS of options. I go here at least once a week. My go to is the Lomo — ribeye steak and grilled onions. Always done to perfection. Their regular carne asada is also super solid. The super fresh homemade salsa is always spot on as well. Employees here are great and the food is always fast and fresh. I recommend this place highly to everyone!

This is probably the best traditional taqueria I’ve found in Chicago. Tacos and enchiladas are amazing. Menudo is worth the price of admission. Also, the side salsa are great too. Add it to the list.

This place has some of the best burritos in Chicago. The al pastor is particularly good. I would highly recommend to anyone.

This little spot doesn’t look like much(and the surroundings will turn many tourists away), but the food and service can’t be beat. The pico is some of the freshest and tastiest I’ve ever had, knocking much more expensive places out of the competition. I’m a vegetarian and have many great options here, but the veggie tacos are my go-to menu item. The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Grab a seat at the window and watch West Town while enjoying your completely affordable meal. Cash only, but there’s an ATM on site also.

This place is a little hole in the wall… of taco heaven! The tacos here were really good. They also have complimentary soup and it was great on a cold day. The best taco I thought was the barbacoa and second best was the tilapia taco. I did get the cow brains taco and although it was good, I don’t suggest people with weak stomachs get this. Professional taco eaters only.

Solid tacos, but the winning formula is the tomatillo salsa. Stopped by for lunch and got the al pastor and the carne asada, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed – the carne asada I found a little more chewy than I would’ve liked, but the marinade on the al pastor was pretty spot on. The tacos are a little on the pricey side, but very generously filled with meat, onions, and cilantro. Each order comes with a generous serving of tomatillo salsa, which I absolutely loved – chilled yet wonderfully spicy, the salsa topped off what was already a very solid taco. It’s a small place with limited seating and cash only, but the solid food makes it worth it and a great place to stop by for a fast meal.

Traspasada is a five-star taqueria. I haven’t had a meal I wouldn’t recommend but here are a few of my favorites: Tacos — It seems like they have dozens of choices but make mine Birria or Chorizo or Steak or Pork. They come with cilantro and onions. Tortas: Chorizo & Egg is my favorite, loaded with lettuce, tomato, avocado and goodness. As with tacos, they have a million options. They serve sopa birria on the weekends– give it a try!

It’s been said but I’ll say it again. Best Al Pastor I’ve come across in the city. Friends have said the cecina is great too. My favorite place for lunch or a quick bite in the evening before or after going out.

Tiny little place, but the best tacos I’ve had in a long time! An excellent choice for 2am tacos or any time tacos really. Gauc is fantastic as well! A must when you are there, I’ve a variety of the different tacos here and have been yet to be disappointed. So yummy!

everything we tried here is just amazing, a lot of exotic stuff, tripes, pig brain, etc we come here every week, it is such a hidden gem, my favourite so far is the tilapia taco must try their home made horchata, it has a rich rice taste to it, unless some other places which fill it with sugar… this place’s horchata feels more flavourful and natural

I went there today for lunch. I had the burrito, carne molida, like I typically get at these taco joints. I have to say, it was quite tasty! The cheese that was used was really good. Cash only and it was just south of $ 10. Which I have to say is quite expensive for a burrito. But worth it and filling. The chips looked pretty good too so maybe split the burrito with someone and get the chips. While waiting, someone was eating a Cuban, that looed really good too! I will be back and try some new things. Of the options around, it is one of the better ones, especially better than one that starts with a C and the ending rhymes with bone.

Equivalent to a taco stand that’s how small the inside is, but it works for a spot to grab some tacos at a cheap price and get them quickly. Must remember to bring cash, no cc accepted. Service: I called my order in and was told 5 min(super quick). The service over the phone was exceptional as he was patient and very nice. Food: I wish they labled the tacos bc when u order so many you want to be able to easily identify them. I ordered a chicken quesadilla and 7 tacos. Below are my reviews on each: Barbacoa taco — not impressed. Won’t order this again. Beef taco — not bad, not great, no complaints. Fish taco — a really great grilled taco with pico de gallo. Was my favorite taco of the bunch. Pork taco — 2nd best taco. I would order it again. Steak taco — not much flavor, but was tender. Slight tweekn and this taco could be good. Glad I tried their food and if I lived closer would probably come back, but I don’t live close by so probably will have to stick to pilsen area for my occasional taco fix. I still recommend anyone in the area to try it if looking for a quick, cheap bite to eat.

Awesome place, a true Authentic Mexican joint in the Chi-Town area. Most restaurants look to be «fancy» and«overpriced», well not Taqueria Traspasada, it’s stuck to it’s tradition of a small Mexican joint with AWESOME authentic Mexican food. The Carne Asada taco was beyond good! I also really liked the Chili Relleno taco. If you want amazing Mexican food and don’t care about going to some crazy fancy place, then check out Taqueria Traspasada

I love this place. This is literally one of those hole in the wall — I hope there’s room for me to walk in– places. So flavorful super authentic — love the torta ahogada or the enchiladas are #offthechain also! The rice and beans is ok, not the best but definitely a goodie.(Refried beans) I’ve been here a few times and they have never failed me! There’s usually street parking and most people pick up to go orders so if there’s room– I suggest staying a while! Also, good sized portions– I always eat with my eyes :)
