I am biased on this place only because I’ve been coming here for over 30 years and I might not know any better. Nothing has changed except the price. You don’t get chips and salsa when you dine in. Tacos and Tortas are good. Sauces and food is made for Mexicans very authentic not trying to cater to anyone else’s taste. It’s a fast food place.

Tanquieria Hernadez is easy to miss. It’s just a small unassuming corner spot. Heck I forgot I visited until my friend mentioned it recently. I was immediately at home in the folksy decorated diner atmosphere and seeing the staff in a slow period cleaning away while jamming to some tunes. The service proved to be as welcoming as my expectation. I ordered a steak taco and chicken. They were on white corn tortillas, packed full of meat, and served with tomato and lettuce(which was fine by me I’m not crazy about cilantro or onion lately) I also had the choice of red or green salsa, which were hot and hotter. The meat was filling and inexpensive. If you are in the area don’t miss out on this spot.

Since living in Rogers Park I have passed by and seen more than a few Taco Joints, especially on Clark Street. And yesterday, I found Taqueria Hernandez, and what a great find this was. Located on the corner of Clark and Lunt Taqueria Hernandez is quite the popular place, yesterday the restaurant dining area was filled with customers and everyone there seemed to be enjoying what Taqueria Hernandez was serving up. And, I’ve gotta say, their tacos may have been the best I’ve ever had, And, these people don’t fool around when filling your taco with the meat of your choice, they are more than generous! And, for $ 2.25 per taco, you are getting something that will make you want to come back for more, yes, they are that good! So, if and when I get a taco craving I will make sure that I will end up at Taqueria Hernandez, because out of all the Taco Joints on Clark Street in Rogers Park I believe I have found the best of the best. What a great impression you made on me Taqueria Hernandez, so here’s your 5 star rating, well deserved!

Pedestrian at best. Stopped in for tacos after work, since it’s right there near the Metro. Everything was just average. The steak was a bit chewy. Nothing fantastic, but nothing offensive, either.

Old school, no-thrills taqueria in Rogers Park. I agree with the reviews that advise you to go with the steak tacos. My wife order them and they were great. I got the burrito al pastor, and it was only so-so. Note, no flour tortillas for the tacos, although they do you the white corn(blanco) variety. Service is fast. The dinning room is quite bare, but very clean. Usually a few family in there having a meal
