Decent option for picking up food near home when you don’t have the time or energy to cook.

I love this place!!! They use to have $ 1 tacos Mon-Wed and that’s what brought me to them. Even though they don’t do that promotion anymore, I order from them at least once if not twice a week. Their tacos are great!!! I bring my friends here and they always love it. Delivery is always fast as well.

I have not had anything on the menu EXCEPT the $ 1 or $ 2 tacos(the price is different some days of the week) but they totally fit the bill when that is what I am in the mood for. We usually order over the phone and go and pick up. Even with a somewhat picky eater in the house that demands«chicken only» tacos, the order is almost always right and the food can’t be beat for the price. I wouldn’t go for the ambiance, but there are usually plenty of tables if you wanted to eat in. Nice to have a good deal and decent food close by. And the people that work there always seem to be quite friendly as well.

LAZYPEOPLENOMORE ! So the first time I went there I ordered a taco salad it was ok the second time I went and ordered for pickup a taco salad and 3 tostada dinner and the flan. It was very sloppy and I won’t order from there again I love taco salad and they really killed it for me their meat was long like worms it was gross instead of using a little bit more finger work cutting them into decent pieces they used long pieces like worms was disgusting I ended up paying like $ 25 awful food plus there was so much fat more fat than actually it was disgusting I kept having to take the chewy pieces out of my mouth and putting them aside then the little meat that was there wasn’t even cut right it looks like worms I’m good I don’t need this lazy type of ordeal

Let’s face it, Chicago, it’s slim pickings when it comes to really good Mexican restaurants on the north side. So I gladly drive a few miles to get to El Primo. The food has been good every time. Portion sizes are always generous. The food tastes fresh which is absolutely key to me giving it a good review. The meat, salsas and sauces have good flavor, although I personally wish it were a little spicier. Their guacamole is also fresh and tasty and the portion is huge for the price. The chicken in mole has been delicious. Burritos are huge. Fajitas are actually filling and the veggies are fresh and flavorful. Service is friendly and prompt(I actually tip. yes, that helps, Unilocalers). Unfortunately there isn’t a double front door so when it opens in the winter the whole place gets chilled. It must cost them a fortune to heat. I think what stands out is that the servers and chefs seem to care about whether you enjoy the food. That means they’ll do a good job, and, when they do, you’ll want to come back. I haven’t been for breakfast but, based on some of the reviews I’m reading, I want to give it a try some weekend.

My first time ordering from this place, and ordered the American Torta it was disgusting and salty there was no solid pieces of meat only crumbles of this and crumbles of that and the pieces of bacon were under cooked definitely not what I expected maybe it’s my fault for such a last minute order at 925 and they closed at 10 hopefully my trash will enjoy it more than I did

I love the red and green salsas at this place.(I am very picky about my salsas.) Every time I go here I have had food that tastes like it was made with fresh ingredients. My favorite are the breakfast platters. They are $ 5.99 and they are so good! The Huevos Rancheros are really good — the sauce is great!

This place offers the worst Mexican food in the area. I ate there once and that was enough. Very dissatisfied.

Little is known about this incredible taqueria. I’m guessing that it’s because of the location and the lack of parking in the area, but who cares, walk there, bike there, run there, find a way to get there, it’s amazing! The actual restaurant looks like any other simple type of fast food place, it’s not the most inviting sit down fancy restaurant by any means, but you hardly notice that once you get your food. First of all, they have a very nice menu. It is meant to please everyone. But what sets it apart is that they make things for you that aren’t even on the menu! Yes!!! I somehow get creative on my mexican food choices, tell them about it, and bam, they make it happen. No other restaurant that I’ve been to has such amazing meals, flavors, and is so accommodating. These guys know how to run a restaurant. They have the best pozole, flautas, tacos, everything I’ve had from their menu hits the spot. A must try!

Two words: mango horchata. This is the first place where I’ve ever tried a flavored horchata, and I am so glad I did. Also, their breakfasts are huge, reasonable, and tasty as hell. I can’t comment on the dine-in experience, since I’ve only ordered delivery from this place, but their delivery service is prompt and once they forgot a part of my order, but they hurried back and brought it a little later.

Had a hankering for some guacamole and my sister said they have really fresh guac so I stopped in and truthfully it was delicious! Just the right amount of tomatoes, onions, cilantro and seasoning. the portion size is substantial and the chips taste homemade. Priced @4.00 you cannot hardly make it yourself at that price. Friendly service.

Hello I ordered here jan15,2015 and they got my order completely wrong and wanted to charge me more even though they messed up. this is not the first time they do this just beware when ordering and make sure you get them to read back what you ordered. Also they refused to give me back my money back! I’m never ordering from here again. I’m sticking to pizza!

On a mission to try the many taquerias in the area, El Primo stood out due to a large number of high reviews on Unilocal at the time. Now the average score looks to be more in line with my below average experience. One afternoon I walked in and was the only customer in the place, and the kitchen wasn’t busy. It took almost 20 minutes to get 3 tacos after I ordered them. I tried the carne asada, barbacoa, and chorizo, and they were all dry and bland without much seasoning. Disappointing. It happened to be $ 1 taco day, so I didn’t spend very much to find out the tacos here aren’t worth it. Quality and service are fairly lacking, and there are better options in the area.

I found about this place by mistake when I first moved to Chicago, and ever since it has been my go-to tacos restaurant. They’re always a guarantee, pretty quick for dine-in or carry out orders. Most of all they’re always friendly. Don’t come too late in the evening as they tend to run out of certain meats. But because of an extensive menu you’re sure to find a substitute. Eat well my mi amigos!

Still nailin’ it. Great job, guys! If I weren’t already married, I’d seriously try to figure out a way to seduce one of ya’ll to get in on the family business. That’s how much I love ya. Dozens and dozens of orders over the past few years(yeah, we’re fat), and they continue to be awesome. I hate those«giving 1-star the one time they f*ck up* updates, so I am totally giving the«5-star cause they continue to be kick-ass» update. Thanks for keeping me in my current jean-size, despite all my efforts exercising! :D

Decent food, but they don’t know how to run a restaurant. They usually have their own big taco trucks taking up scant parking space, often right in front of the place. Also, hours are a guesstimate.(Don’t believe the hours they have listed here! And their web site says they’re open only Sat and Sun from 12 to 5 … lol … what kind of business owner would let that mistake stand?) They open when the family feels like strolling in. I just called on a Saturday morning at 10:15 and they told me «we just got in. we’ll be open in 15 – 20 minutes.» sigh. don’t count on them, but if they happen to be open when you’re hungry, worth a try.

Absolute assholes. Never again. The second time they’ve fucked up an order royally, our patience is spent. We ordered delivery from them in this apocalypse. We pre-added a 20% tip, since the weather was frightful. 10 minutes in, they call us to tell us they lack hot wings as we asked, and also orange juice. We subbed in carrot juice, and also asked for guac and chips(cheaper then wings, no?). Our delivery was set to come between 6:50 — 7:05. It arrived at 7:25. The guy asked my fiancé to come down stairs because he was running late… OK… in the minute it took my fiancé to throw on a coat and get down there, he stormed up in a fit of rage, shoved the food at him and got going. Oh, and to top it off, no refund for the lack of wings! When we called and asked, the reasoning was«well we subbed in the guac». OH? OH??? In what hell is that the same value, jackholes? The point is, I’m pissed, I’m done, never ever again.

Great Taqueria, wish it was really open 24⁄7. Can’t go wrong with dollar tacos! My wife and I have both gotten burritos as well. They don’t skimp on the filling. Meat is always well seasoned and cooked properly. Horchata is delicious cinnamon goodness in a glass.

This is a good option for Mexican food if you live in the area. I live close to Taqueria El Primo, so I would order from here if I didn’t feel like driving. There are better Mexican restaurants in the city, but this place isn’t bad. My husband and I ordered food from here. We each got a steak burrito and split a torta and an order of rice and beans. Their website is kind of confusing, so we actually ended up just calling our order in. The food is decent. The steak wasn’t as fresh tasting as I would have liked, but it’s overall an OK place to order from.

We just ate here for the first time tonight ! Nice place nice employees and on Tuesday and Wednesdays they have $ 1 tacos!!! That you can’t beat! I got chicken and asked for only sour cream and cheese My fiancé wanted everything(steak)and they only put lettuce and tomato… he said and I quote disappointing! But I was pretty pleased with the food from here and would like to go back every week for cheap and yummy tacos!
