There food is really good I wish they were open later and I wished the restaurant was bigger but despite that this restaurant is really good. It’s a must try!

The review that I am giving is for the food. For some reason the Mexican food here is really tasty. I like the fact that they prepare it in front of you. But I’m not too fond about the fact that there are no table seating. It almost looks like a trailer and it has a bar even though they do not serve alcohol. The seating is all at the bar and there is not much space anywhere else. I feel like most of the people that come in are males. I went with my husband and there were six other men’s sitting giving me creepy looks. So other than the creepy guys sitting at the bar the service was great. The food was very good. My husband had the chilaquiles and I have the sopes. They were both extraordinarily very good. The drinks that they sell are mostly all Sugary but they will give you a glass of tap water if you request. I would recommend coming here if you want some authentic Mexican food prepared in front of you. Maybe carry out would be a better option if you don’t want to sit near creepy guys.

Love tacos villa! Great service and even better food!. My favorite spot for quesadillas! I’ve only ever had their quesadillas. I would one day like to try more food but i can never pass up a quesadilla de picadillo with red salsa! Only things that suck are cash only and no parking. Oh and their hours are very weird so call first.

Hole in the wall??? Hell yea. Small place with about 10 or so seats at the counter, no tables, no waiter, no fancy table cloths or silverware. Used to come here a lot, not quite sure why I stopped. About a month ago a friend who used to live here in Chicago was coming back and called me to have lunch with him. I asked him where did he want to go and he said the following: ” Remember the small Mexican restaurant on the southside that has great quesadillas and killer chilaliquiles” «Sorry not sure which place you are talking about» i replied. And he continiues: «the place by 63 where the people there are super nice and helpful» Dude be more specific, I said. We can go anywhere else. He wasn’t going to have that: «great quesadillas and chilaliquiles, great customer service, small place by 63rd and Kedzie. Are you talking about Tacos Villa??? Yes that one. So… we went there that day and he asked me to text him the address the next day.

There are several things that are unpleasant, and examining other people’s moldy basements is one of them. That was what had my coworker and myself had been doing for most of the morning. We had been fueled by the vision of the tacos we would eat after our third home visit, and Tacos Villa was fulfilled our fungus-influenced expectations. Though the small restaurant was a little toasty on the hot afternoon, we were comfortable on a bar stools watching our orders take place eyes watering and noses itching. Sometimes, you just need to zone out watching a guy use a masa press and look at a map about the breweries of Mexico. I ordered a chicken sope, rice and beans, and an horchata. The Horchata was thin, cold, not too sweet, and really cinnamon-y, the signs of an excellent horchata. The yellow rice and refried beans were served in a little boat-shaped dish. These were so much better than so many rice and beans I have eaten so many times– perfectly cooked and slightly garlic-y, they stood on their own, enhanced by the vinegary-green and funky-red salsa that came on the side, but not needing that accompaniment. My chicken sope was a delicately arranged tower. I usually avoid sopes because they are messy and sometimes the tortilla-base-thing sucks, but this was the opposite of that. The deep-fried base was crispy, delicate– Hugh’s S. Description of «biscuit» is not off the mark. The pollo top came in big, lean pieces, well marinated and cooked. Sometimes, ordering pollo is asking for shredded skin and fat with zero percent seasoning, but this chicken was had a flavor somewhere between curry and mole– a perfect contrast to the crunch of the biscuit and lettuce. A Note! They do not have chips or avocado. If these are food items are requirements for you, you need to expand your palate but you’re not going to be happy here. As I look back on my recent visit to Tacos Villa, I am filled with kindheartedness and a sense of nostalgia. This is probably because I was having a low-dose mushroom trip, but also because this was delicious food in a welcoming environment. The three employees were polite, friendly, and focused on the amazing food they were crafting for regulars as well as these two allergic gringas. Highly recommended.

This is a great place if your looking for something good and affordable. The quesadillas are amazing, i love that they are able to mix my chorizo with carne asada. the sitting is a little weird but it makes up for the food. I rarely eat there since i live a few blocks away. Im able to call and pick up my food in less than 15 minutes which is awesome. i would recommend this place if your in the mood for good tacos/quesadillas.

When the BF first brought be here, I was kinda insulted. At first glance is just a hole in the wall, but it’s actually a hidden gem. I am addicted to their chicken sopes. Addicted I tell you. They add a little bit of potato to their chicken, which adds a little different texture, and it works. The flavor of their food is top notch. I can’t comment on the other meats, but the BF orders everything they have and raves about the place. In fact, at one we came here every day straight for like five days in a row(we really need to get some business, but I was not complaining!!) And let me not forget the horchata. I’m an horchata snob. I like the homemade stuff, not the cinnamon laden, ready made crap that alot of places try to pass off. Tacos Villa’s horchata is one of the best in the city, in my humble opinion. Creamy, light and the real deal. And everything’s really reasonable. For two people, we’ve never spent more than $ 10, and he eats ALOT.

I like Bebe and I go here a lot to lunch on their flavorful mexican take out. Their steak tacos and chicken enchiladas are quite good. Their refried beans stand out because they are lighter and smoother than in your regular mexican fare. They don’t taste as «unhealthy» as far as frijoles go. Also a big favorite of mine are their chicken sopes. Very tasty little deep-fried biscuit with frijoles shredded chicken, pechuga queso y crema. Muy delicioso! That’s just how good it is.

Great food, great service. Do not judge a book by its cover. I actually like the bar seating. The owners are the people that are serving you and they are very friendly. Their menu is very extensive. Just ask they can probably cook it.

This is a really great taqueria — I like it the food a lot more than Los Comales across the street. When I choose between the two, I have to say Los Comales across the street is better if you want to sit and relax, but if it’s just about food, I go here. The tacos seem cheaper, but they have less meat — they mix in fried potatoes with the chicken. Fine with me — it’s about the same value as most other taquerias. The seating is diner style, and you get to watch them make your food for you(which is fun if you’re ordering something healthy). Very tiny, close knit, sociable atmosphere — you can’t help but have a conversation with the people around you, as well as the people who work there. Super cute place. Definitely a family atmosphere.

Ok at first glance you wouldn’t even consider walking into this place. On the outside it looks like some shack with a kitchen. The seating is horrible, just a bar with stools, no tables and seating is limited. You’ll think twice about wanting to order food at this place but the place is always packed! Why? The food is great! The tacos are one of the best I’ve ever had and I’m picky when it comes to tacos. The chicken tacos are my favorite next to the al pastor. My brother LOVES their menudo, the gorditas are good and the chilaquiles are in this rich sauce that only mom can make. It’s not a great place to take kids becuase of the seating arrangements but you can order to go although I’ve never ordered to go from this place just because this food you want to eat fresh from the source, soggy tacos are not my thing but give it a try. It’s really cheap food and really great tasting. The place is family owned and run. We drive quite a bit for their food. They really need to expand!!!
