This restaurant is now CLOSED(as of June 1, 2011). Sadly, though, as it was a decent place to get a cheap plate of decent Mexican food. :(

Not too much to say about this place other than there are better places around the loop for a decent taco. I’ve ordered a few fish tacos and wished I didn’t. It tasted like frozen over fish. The only thing refreshing was my can of coke.

As others have said in their reviews the food here although healthy is very bland. The salsa, guacamole and quesadillas are good so for that it gets three stars. The owner does not seem as pushy as the owner of the one on adams so that is a plus. But the food seems to tast the same at both locations so that is another reason why both get three stars

Did not like the food here at all. I would expect the food to be fresh since its in the name. Meat tasted like it was frozen. For a few more dollars I could of walked over to Chipotle. Never again.

Taco fresco is a fresh twist on Mexican food. Its clean, nice and the food is pretty good. You have to try the vegetarian tacos. they are the best! we also tried the steak tacos as well as the tamales. I would have given them 5 stars but the tamales tasted like they were a few days old.

passable mexican food for a loop lunch. taco fresco boasts a menu of relatively healthy lunchtime fare — think grilled tuna burritos, shrimp tacos, low fat beans, wheat tortillas, etc. the real winners were, however, the array of unusual diet sodas and the freshly fried chips. the salsa selection was a bit disappointing, but go with the atomic red colored one.(part of the fun is thinking, «that’s not the shade of real tomatoes…») why i wont be coming here everyday? the burritos skimped a bit on protein, and for the quality, it’s not a great deal. also, i don’t think of iceberg lettuce as a real vegetable(it’s green water with a bit of cellulose). okay, texas friend-who-rolled-her-eyes when i said i was going here for lunch, maybe you were right. not the best thing i’ve ever eaten either!

if you are craving for some healthy alternative to regular tacos and burritos, Taco Fresco offers grilled yellow fin tuna. I had the tuna burrito combo that comes with rice, beans, and a can of pop. The burrito is decent, definitely not the best I’ve had. The rice was a tad bit dry and the beans were just ehh. I took off one star because food was served in a styrofoam container even though we were eating in.

Came here for lunch since this is the last taco place that I haven’t been to around. I had: 1 Steak Taco: Tortilla was not even warmed– It was so bad that I threw one layer away. The steak was fine but it did not have a good fresh aroma. 1 chili Shrimp Taco: OLD shrimp. omg, it was so gross. It was not bouncy at all. It was like a limp piece of tofu. wait — limp tofu is better than this. Chips & guacamole: Chips was crispy, but looked oily. Guc was regular — the tomato pieces were a bit big. I shoulda just stepped back out when I saw the empty hotdog area next to the taco station. Then I really shoulda ran out when I saw the owner was an Indian lady selling tacos. What in the world was I think?! Summary: I won’t be back.

Lean Beef Burrito, you are delicious and I bet your hermanos and hermanas tacos, quesadillas are amazing as well. Was looking for an alternative to Chipotle for lunch last week and finally walked an extra two blocks to get me some Taco Fresco. Super fast, more choices than I expected, and not too expensive. I posted pics of my regular sized burrito, I can’t even imagine how big the Grande is! TF, thank you, I’ll be seeing you again

S H R I M P T A C O S! I love the shrimp tacos! Whoever thought of them is a certified genius in my book. Taco Fresco has multiple salsas to choose from, my personal fave being the jalepeno salsa. I work around the corner from this place and it completely works when I don’t feel like hoofing it to *gasp* dare I say, Chipotle. It’s quick, cheap, & delicious.

I really like this Taco Fresco. It’s much better than the one I used to go to on North Avenue(which is now a bank.) I think the quality is pretty good, and the prices are decent for loop fare. The taco special is a lot of food and you get a can of soda with your order. They are quick too. I find the beef is better than the chicken or steak, and it’s not greasy or scary like some other taco joints. One downside, it’s a small place, so either come early, or late, or get it to go.

I had walked by this place so many times but never actually had any of the food until today. I walked in and there was already 10 people in line. I was probably only in the restaurant for about a total of 5 minutes!!! The service is amazingly fast! They take pride in making their food fresh and healthy and they definitely live up to it. The food I had was very fresh and healthy. I had ordered two shrimp tacos with a side of beans and rice. The food was still hot by the time I brought it back to my office. The taste was a bit bland though. But I guess thats a trade off for healthy? More healthy= less sodium. The prices were definitely reasonable and the staff was friendly. I’ll be seeing you again soon guys!

Eat here once in awhile when in the mood for non-authentic tacos. Food is just okay, have tried the tacos and burritos. They are just, eh, okay. I do like their Chopped Chicken Salad and their Tortilla /Chicken Rice soup when it’s a cold day. The soup doesn’t taste spectacular, but it does the job. Overall, okay food, okay service, okay prices.

Had the garlic chile shrimp taco and a side of black beans. Bland, bland, bland. meh, meh, meh. This is a good example why I usually bring my lunch.

I was rather disappointed with my experience here. I am usually a pretty easy guy to please, but this place just didn’t cut it for me. There is not much seating here at all so you will be lucky to get a seat if you go at lunch time. The staff seemed rather friendly and they did get us our food quickly. The only thing I order on my tacos EVER is cilantro and onions. As in my typical pattern, that is what I ordered here. With the limited taco ingredients that I order, the lack of taste in the steak became very obvious. They weren’t awful by any means but they were just so unmemorable that I can’t see myself ever craving these. The beans and rice just tasted a bit off.

I’ve only had the steak tacos here… I love that they are more healthy(corn tortillas, not greasy, lots of lettuce) but there isn’t enough salsa for my taste. The staff is so nice, and I love the punch cards… only 12 more tacos to go before I get a free lunch! :) It’s so close to work that I know I’ll continue to go… but I need to try more of their menu. Until then… I’d rather walk 3 more blocks to Chipotle.

I like the food here. I like that there are healthy menu options such as substituting low fat cheese for regular and black beans for refried beans. But most of all, I love the chopped chicken salad. Grilled chicken, black beans, salsa, cheese and chips on romaine lettece. Yummy! I like it so much that I eat it without dressing. The staff at the spot are fast and friendly. I also like the frequent buyer card — who doesn’t love a free meal?

Great quesadillas, especially the fresh tomato, cilantro and onion for $ 4.25. Taco salads are good($ 4.75 for black bean or grilled veggie) but I HATE Ranch dressing and that’s all they offer. Fish tacos are yummy but quite small, and $ 2/each; three might fill me up but I’d be over budget. I should try their low-fat cheese option, but their guac is really awful(like Taco Bell’s). Crabmeat and garlic chile shrimp quesadillas are $ 5.75, and I occasionally pony up the extra quarter.

I don’t why I go to these type of places… I am just asking for a beating(I must have been confused or starving). Typical Tex-Mex fast food that is a step up from Taco Bell. Steak Burrito was average and the refried beans/rice were plain. Come to think of it… Chipotle is better tasting(sigh…).

This Mexican fast food place is across from the Mies post office and just off an alley. The smallish interior is dimly lit but aided by natural light through its large windows. I ate a quesadilla which was a decent light lunch but nothing special.
