Went thru the drive-thru this eve. Ordered chicken club toaster & sm chili cheese fries. Got home, saw there was no tomato on sandwich. Called them; spoke w/mgr Robert, who was really nice & immed asked for my name & told me that they would give me a replacement when I came back. So far, so good. Then I bit into the sandwich, & it’s hard to describe the texture of the«chicken» because I’ve never experienced anything like it(& I’ve been around for awhile). It’s not that it was dry or just tough normal meat; it was as if a bunch of knuckle-sized pieces of gristle had been formed into a patty. After first bite, I picked apart the rest w/my fingers., then tossed it. This was the weirdest piece of meat I’ve ever had; I really questioned whether I was actually eating food. And the lettuce was scarce and old-tasting and swimming in a lake of mayo. I asked for onions on my fries; they had that slightly nauseating over-the-hill-onion flavor. I’m sorry to have to say this, but I’m sure the quality that almost everyone describes here is due to the fact that, although there are a lot of gentrifiers in the area, there are also a lot of poor people, & I think the franchisee figures that he/she can get away w/dishing out any old thing(and is getting away w/it). It’s a piss-poor showing for the only Sonic in the city. Left a comment w/Sonic corporate, because I, like everyone else, am mystified by how they can let this go on; this location is a very bad ambassador for their brand.

What a terrible place. I noticed they had 50% off Sonic Burgers, grabbed one of those with some ala carte mozzarella sticks and a drink. Came to the windows saw a 25 $ charge, I said what is this? Apparently the deal doesn’t work if you get the meal. I told them I ordered them separately for that reason. I’m told it’s a major inconvenience to them to refund an order like that. Wow. Let me stop there, an inconvenience to them? What a joke. Decided to take the«free food» offer instead(although they gave me a dollar item in place of a 3 $ difference). Got about a ¾ large fry. It took me 10 minutes to go through the damn drive through. No one ahead of me, and only one behind me. Not going back to this one!

Way, way, waaaaay over priced fast food. Not only is it overpriced but they never get your order right. Try it out sometime, order more than two items and somehow they will screw up the order. I actually really like the food and the shakes(when you can get what you ordered that is) but you are going to spend $ 20 dollars fora few hot dogs, large fry and a shake. That is just sick in my not so humble opinion.

I agree. Waited about a minute & no one on the speaker. Terrible, slow service. This reminds me, this is the second time I’ve driven off without ordering. The one time I did order, the food was wrong. Avoid this place!

Terrible service. No one here. No one to take order. Extremely, extremely slow for fast food– this is the rule, not an exception. I’ve come here 5 times since its down the street from where I live and each time I’m reminded why I hate this place and never come.

As much as I normally like food and drinks from Sonic, I’ve been to this location 3 times and have been disappointed every time. Twice I was over charged, once my order was wrong, and every time the service is unbelievably slow and the food isn’t consistently hot. I spent over 30 minutes in the drive thru the last time I was there with only 2 cars ahead of me. I was very excited when a Sonic opened close to me, and its frustrating to know that if I go, I’ll be disappointed. They need to up the customer service game and put some hustle in their step. I hope they improve.

I don’t review fast food often, because who really expects much from a fast food place? Minimally, I think it’s fair to expect that fast food be, well… FAST. This place is nearby, so I’ve been a few times for shakes and snacks, but after the last few attempts I don’t even think I’ll bother. The service has always been slow, but it’s gotten worse lately. Two weeks ago, I waited at the drive in for 20 minutes with only two cars in front of me for my order to be taken. I ended up just driving away, because I had to [insert everything in the world better than sitting in your car]. Today I tried for a quick snack between errands, and sat at the drive through behind one car for 12 minutes. After finally pulling up to the ordering screen, I just sat there for another 5 minutes until I had to leave without ordering. The one time in the last few months I actually managed to complete an order, they asked me to pull over and wait for a fresh burger. I figured out eventually that«fresh» must be code for, «sitting on ice for an hour before being given to you.» To be fair, everyone that works there seems really nice, but it’s clear they need to hire more employees.

So i read all the reviews about the slow service. I’ve been here a few times the last few weeks(stop judging) and I’ve never had an issue with the service, so perhaps they’ve gotten that together in the past year or so. It’s a fast food joint so I don’t expect miracles. Prefer it to McDonalds. Also the shakes are superb. If i just rated on the shakes this would be a 5 star experience. My food wasn’t cold but i certainly wouldn’t define it as hot and that’s a little disappointing. Overall it’s fine.

I don’t normally write reviews for fast food chains nor do we eat out at fast food places all that often, but everything was just awful! I thought there was some good hype around sonic but I guess I shoulda looked at Unilocal first. We wanted to try a little bit of everything so we got a coney dog, a New York dog, a jr. Double, spicy crunch chicken strips, fries, tots and onion rings. The best thing out of all the above would have been the jr. double cheese burger… And by best, I mean decent/edible. The hot dogs were tough and dry. chicken strips also the same… as if they had been sitting out for a few hours. Fries were pathetic… they seemed to have gone stale pretty quickly and tasted dry and shriveled. Tots were whatever. Onion rings were the worst I’ve had — thought and dry. It was just overall majorly disappointing. Would have rather gone to the mcdonalds next door.

I read all the bad reviews on the level of service but change is in place folks. I understand there’s new management in place. We were there tonight and service was fast. We ordered multiple combo meals and we got the food within minutes. Food wise, for a fast food joint they have good side options, a variety of frozen dessert/smoothie/shakes and 5 different kids meals. However they need to bulk the toppings(lettuce, tomatoes and etc) on the burger and the chicken tenders are on the small side. Great addition to the neighborhood. There’s another reason to get off the Wilson exit on LSD now…

The reviews are correct… It took FOREVER to get my food AND it was served cold! I went through the drive thru around 10pm and ordered a cheeseburger, fries and slushee. There weren’t any cars in front of me or behind me; however, I waited over 10 minutes at the drive thru window for my order. Once I got my food, the young girl at the window did sincerely apologize for the wait. After leaving the drive thru and sooooo ready to tear into my bag of food, I was disppointed AND pissed off that my cheeseburger AND fries were COLD– I don’t mean warm, they were actally cold. Why did I wait 10 minutes just to be given cold food!!! I immediately called and spoke to the manager, Patricia. She was very professional, took accountability and apologized for the wait and the cold food. She offered me another meal at no charge, so I will give Sonic another try. I hope they get it right the next time!

I’m pregnant and hungry, and all I want is a Sonic burger and a shake, is it really too much to ask? There were 4 people eating inside, one car parked in the drive in option, and we were the only car at the drive through window tonight. The guy tells us it will be a minute, fine, ok at least he know we’re there. Ten minutes later, no one has taken our order and as we’re driving away without my craving(so infuriating), two workers inside are chatting and laughing, having a grand old time not working. Just go to Diner Grill on Irving, the milkshakes are better anyway.

Last week I did drive thru. No one would take my order so I drove away. Today I thought I would try again. No one would take my order. I pulled up to the window. Only 1 car ahead of me. I waited and waited. Then someone asked what I want. Just small onion rings. I waited 5 minutes for them. There were 2 cars behind me. Next time I do not think I want them that much.

Ugh. What did I just eat? It was *shaped like a bacon double cheeseburger. But it tasted like warm, soggy newspaper. The tots were good, though. Avoid.

Got a burger with jalapeño and bacon. It was pretty good. The service was the worst. The girl who took my order was really struggling mentally.

I just couldn’t sit still. I had the urge to wander around the area instead of unpacking. Curiosity and a slow driving pace around the neighborhood(which infuriated people behind me) brought me to the corner of Wilson and Sheridan. As I was swatting a mosquito that sneaked into the car, I turned to my left and almost immediately couldn’t breathe! There it was in all its glory — SONIC!!! No turning signal for me! My two Brothers and I immediately began dancing as I pulled an irrational turn at the light and whipped into the parking lot! The mayhem began! Between the three of us we had: –Fish sandwich –Cheddar cheese bread dog –Chili Cheese fries –Tater Tots –Chicken strips –Jalapeño poppers –Fried cinnamon bites(SOYUMMY) –Polynesian punch slushy(All me!) It. Got. Serious. Everything was delicious as always. The hot dogs in the cheesy buns are a new item that I would say you have to try at least once! My slushy was so delish, I wish I had some type of vodka to go with it at the time. I was beyond stuffed as always and will be a regular at this spot. Thank you fast-food lords for having this restaurant in the area!

Worst customer service imaginable. They don’t care if there’s a line. They don’t care what they say in front of you. They don’t care if they make you wait interminably. I take the abuse bcs of the shakes. But honestly drive thru is better. Just make sure you double check your order before you pull away because they’ll mess that up to. I can’t help but wonder… Where the hell is the manager? Who made the mistake of hiring these people? Did they teach them anything about customer service?

I have submitted twice that the hours are wrong. Stall and lobby hours are 6am-10pm. Drive up hours are 6am-2am. I have sent text and a picture of the hours. Nothing has changed on the Unilocal listing.

I have been stalking and waiting for this place to open, yes seriously. Having lived in Texas for quite a few years I became used to having Sonic’s on every corner and actually miss those slushes! Went the weekend it opened, it was very busy and they were pretty slow but I understand when a business opens and a new concept style it’s going to be slow, everything was good and the only thing they forgot were our straws. Not awful :)

Can’t help it. I’m lovi’n Sonic:) I recently moved out of Uptown after 8 years and in all honesty I was waiting with baited breath for the Sonic Grand Opening on Wilson Ave, hoping it would open before I moved/left the area. No such luck but today I decided to go back to Uptown just so I could finally check out this new Sonic. And, I’m really glad I did. For you see, I am almost 53 and have never been to a Sonic before today so I was really excited to see this new addition to Uptown. Here’s what I found. Man, this place is Rocking Busy, they were packed with Customers inside and all the carport stalls were filled as well! And, yes, there are some cool guys on Rollerskates, they were really good/talented on those skates, one guy was dancing. ahhh. Memories. Roller Boogie circa 1977. Anyway, they had very polite/nice associates working there, and the manager was making the rounds as well, checking in with everyone. However, I do think they still will need to work out a few kinks, like their ordering system, they will take your order and then you basically wait around till it’s ready and then they scream/yell out your ticket number, Geez, there’s too much noise in the world already. And, they have a sufficient amount of tables and booths for your seating pleasure/convenience and they play the coolest songs on Sonic Radio. But, I have to say, the star of their show is their food. And, yes, throughout my 52 years of life I have patronized many restaurants and I wasn’t sure what the Sonic Hype was all about, But, now I know. A great tasting Bacon Cheeseburger with chili cheese tots and okay, here it comes. my banana cream pie milkshake. This sucker had bits of banana pieces in there, I was in my banana heaven. Seriously, some of the best fast food I have ever had! So, I’m lovi’n this new Sonic and I plan to definitely make my way back here from time to time. This place has really good fast food, rocking music, guys dancing on skates and I even saw some balloons. What more could I ask for? Except maybe an appearance by Sonic the Hedgehog…
