I wanted to bring some lunch to my boyfriend during his break so I called in an order at 10:25 and was told it would be 20 minutes. I get there at 10:45 and the kid tells me it will be another 5 minutes. Ok, fine. Totally understandable. A few other guys come in and get their sandwiches within 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the owner starts barking orders to the kitchen staff and belittling them and telling them not to be like the other crappy ladies he had before who only flirted with customers and didn’t bother working. Then 15 minutes pass… The owner asks me what I ordered and I tell him and he yells at the crew about my order. I am 95% sure that my order was not started until I arrived at the establishment. Finally, at 11:10 my order is ready(3 sandwiches). I was so annoyed as my BF’s break was close to being over that the owner told me a price and I paid it, not even paying attention. I get to my BF’s work a few minutes later and it hits me that I paid $ 40 for $ 30 worth of food. I call and ask how much it should’ve been and the owner(who had been working the register the entire time I was waiting) apologized yet blamed it on another employee having left a sandwich order on the register and forgot to void it. I had to go back and get my money. The store was busy so he gave me the money right away and offered another quick apology. I was in such a bad mood after all of this. I am never coming back. The owner really needs a lesson on how to run a business. He should have at least comped me one of the sandwiches for all of the trouble. Oy. And the breaded steak sandwich I got was not all that. I’ll stick to Ricobene’s.

Just had the Spicy Italian sub and it’s about the best that I’ve had in Chicago! I’ve lived here all my life and I know a thing or two about Italian subs! Great Chicago spot and yes it is truly Italian, Italian!

Service was excellent huge quantity and very good quality! I love the hot Italian(Had an awesome variety of Italian meats) and the breaded steak. Breaded steak was 12 inches long! Great peppers and cheese on it and everything! Very authentic Italian American cuisine.

First time there after seeing it on «Chicago’s Best». I came from Oak Forest and it was worth the trip. I had the breaded steak sandwich, a slice of pizza and a peach tea. The sandwich was huge and awesome, very tasty and you can see it being made. I highly recommend this. The pizza was good also, it’s that bakery(Sicilian) kind cut into squares like I used to get it when I was a kid on the west side.

Busy carry out business for a sunny Saturday. But just sitting at one of the few stools available for eating in is worth the wait. Will update review after I try one. But I asked about party trays and I gestured wide arms and said they were $ 25 for a 3 footer that could be cut and put on a tray.

I have a soft spot for sub sandwiches. Actually its been a lifelong desire for a properly crafted submarine sandwich. So long as the bread is fresh, lettuce shredded and meat cut, sliced or shaved on the spot. Then a small topping of some hot giardinera and a smear of decent mayonnaise. I’ll be on cloud nine. Earlier this day I was on the south side attending a «Recall Rauner» event. After a long afternoon of discussion I was ready for a late lunch. Pulled out my Android, pulled up Unilocal and checked the area for«sandwiches». Soluri & Sons came up 4th on the list. After checking out reviews for a couple other delicatessens, I’d decided on this spot to grab a submarine or two. I found parking in front and the meter was a few feet from the door. It took roughly the time of fifty cents for my order to be completed. Ordered a Spicy Italian with mayo and hot giardinera. Also ordered a turkey sub which is my usual go to when I’m trying to be «good». I shared my submarines with a cousin that lives nearby. Two subs with a side of pasta salad. The total was about $ 18.36 with tax. The deli is cash only but offers a no-name ATM inside. It has an old school kind of feel. The kind that reminds you of an older Chicago. Posters advertising for the re-election of the Daley’s still hang on their walls. The counter guy is personable the way a Dad can be. I believe his son and family were visiting the Deli at the time. I loved the Spicy Italian. Good flavors and the mayo worked well with the«house sauce» and hot giardinera. The turkey sub was good only because of the hot giardinera, if not for that, it would have been a downer. Per other reviewers some feel the cost does not match the offering. I think the cost is decent but I agree that something should take up space. Maybe an extra helping of lettuce and tomato or thicker slices of protein? All in all a decent submarine experience. I’ll be eating’em again.

Best Italian sub in Chicago? This may very well be! I love getting food from Soluri & Sons. The Italian Beef sandwich was spot on and the Italian Sub is perfect. My girlfriend has tried the other subs here and loves em every time. Ive seen some comparisons to Bari subs and i thought the same thing, but, Bari has gone downhill as of recent. Bari no longer uses D’Amatos bread and is apparently in a feud with them! Now, Soluri does use that crispy and soft delicious D’Amatos bread AND they even sell D’Amatos slices of pizza! This sub shop rules. Plain and Simple. Best sandwiches in Chicago! Cash Only

Probably the worst sub I’ve ever had. The bread was like crackers. I asked them to add onion to my sandwich. It turned out to be the only thing besides meat and cheese they put on there. Have you honestly ever seen a sub with only meat, cheese and onion? Disgusting. Why don’t you make your overpriced under quality sub where everyone can see it? Instead of in the back. Even Subway you can see them make your sandwich. Will never go back here!

This was my first time here. Small neighborhood hideaway. The owner seemed to know everyone who walked through the door, and that was a considerable number considering it was already 1:30pm. I had the best eggplant parm I have ever had, bar none. It was as fresh as it gets, with tangy tomato sauce, delicious sweet peppers and a gardenia that was just out of this world. I’ll definitely be back when I find myself in the Bridgeport neighborhood again.

I live in the North side. My husband has brought me sandwiches from Soluri’s and I have been very impressed with the Italian Sandwhich. However, today I had the BEST Italian Beef sandwhich. Angie was very special to have the beef and giardiniera separate from their bread. She didn’t want it to arrive cold. I have tried several Italian Beefs from other great places. However, Soluri’s beef was the best I ever had. It beats all the other places. It was excellent, the beef was very much quality and lean and the seasoning made it delicious. The gravy was amazing. With perfectly steam red peppers. Their bread is the best bread. Then the giardiniera was fresh and very good. I was so happy. I did today what I have never done. I dipped the small left over piece of bread in the gravy juice. It was the bomb !!! Now I am so sad because I don’t live by 35th. If you try it you will taste the best as I did. Yummy!

I’ve been here a few times and always loved the sandwiches. If my ass didn’t grow just from holding bread, I’d eat there more often. I live a block away. I popped in one day on the way to grab my kid from daycare. They were closing but said they’d still make something. Then I realized I didn’t have cash and that they didn’t have toddler sized sandwiches. They said not to worry about it and made my 4 year old an awesome little custom sandwich, perfect for a little kid and totally free. I love supporting locally owned businesses. F’ing Jimmy Johns never would have done anything like that. I really hope their business is doing well and that they stay open for a long time!

This IS Chicago’s Italian deli. I hear the cries already. «But…but…BARI?!» Bari is good. Bari is cheap. But Giovanni Soluri and his team of sandwich slingers make the best, sorry! The hot Italian is my personal favorite, but try all of them if you can! I’m lucky the neighborhood laundromat is across the street so I can sneak over while my laundry takes a tumble. They also have a wonderful drink selection and make many of their own products(Italian sausage, giardiniera, etc.). One of the times I ordered for delivery, Mr. Soluri came to the door himself! I’m always impressed by this place. A well deserved 5 stars. Note: Cash Only

Soluri & Sons just popped up on Halsted, and I was excited to have a local italian deli close by. Stopped in and was greeted by the owner who was very nice. This placed looks like it has been here forever. Ordered an Italian sub to go. For $ 7, I was willing to give it a shot. Deli meat is sliced fresh right there, and everything is served inside a fresh italian bread(which is your typical hard bread). I enjoyed the sub, but wish it had more meat. While eating my sub, I couldn’t help but think of Bari’s sandwiches. Not only is Bari’s cheaper, but more is provided and taste is comparable between these two establishments. If Soluri’s was $ 5, I’d be here all the time. I’m all for supporting a good, local business, but there has to be some value too. On a side note, Soluri & Son’s sells their own giardiniera(mild and hot), which I was tempted to try. Maybe next time!

We had their Italian Sub and it was very good. It wasn’t the best Italian sub we have ever had but it was good. We like it 10X better than Subways. I believe their prices are fair for a quality cured meats between to slices of white Italian bread. They charge $ 3.00 more for meat which I guess is okay but for $ 3 I can buy ½ lb of salami at Mariano’s so not sure if $ 3.00 would sell me on extra meat for the sub. I’m glad this business is here in Bridgeport we need something like this in Bridgeport. I hope they stick around.

Just opened March 2013. Italian sandwiches, couple salads, deli, pizza, and homemade Italian sausage. Sausage comes Mild, hot, and extra hot to take home. Limited seating is 5 stools at a counter and cash only. Large sandwiches, delicious and reminds me of Boston North End.
