great everything! food, drinks, atmosphere.

if you like tots… and i mean tots with anything… fug yea you want to go to skylarks! Drinks were decent, maybe a bit pricey for what it was but its cool. oh. bring a flashlight if you plan on siting on the floor (not at bar) bc its pretty dark.

Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it’s cash only. However this place is great. What a dive bar should be. Good beer for under 5 bucks. Don’t forget to get a basket of tator tots. Everyone here was friendly. Cheers.

This bar is alright. Chilled out mood. Have had a couple snooty bartenders who took forever to take my order, and then refused to deal with my tater tot order (the tater tots are kind of this places saving grace). Also cash only which has it 3 buck service charge downside.

Service is good prices are great but for some time now the specials remind me of some hipster spoof video on YouTube where they test what kind of trash we can feed people. Another gem slowly dying but not even seeing what made them who they are. Smh in sadness.

This place is awesome. The beer is cheap, great selection, and the bar food is reasonably priced. The bar itself is very dark and the music is not too loud. You can actually have a conversation with someone. I’m definitely coming back.

I used to live about a mile south of Skylark and I think even if I had been further I would still have been there just as often. MANY great memories of my Chicago days began or ended at the Lark. It was the very first bar I went to after moving in and the very last bar I went to before moving out of the city. I miss their burger, tots, mac&cheese and Cuban, the photobooth, the music, the grumpy waitstaff, the burly bartenders, I miss all of it! I have spent birthdays, and first dates and last dates and gals nights and so. many. Monday nights at Skylark. I hear they don’t do Monday night jazz anymore which is a huge bummer, but I will always have my memories. It was the place I’d bring my out of town friends, and the place I’d meet my in-​town friends.
We have a lot of dives with good burgers in Detroit and Hamtramck, but nothing will ever take the place of my beloved Skylark.

Felt like I was In a giant living room party at someone’s house. Great atmosphere (I was there on Friday night at 9pm and it was packed).
I got a Ginger Whiskey here for $ 3.50! A quarter of the price for the equivalent at a River North bar.
Btw I’ve heard the food here is amazing too. Will probably write a separate review once I’ve have the chance to try it.
This isn’t a place to dance but it’s an amazing place to come hang out, meet cool people and take the edge off. HIGHLY recommend.

The drinks were great and all $ 5 and under. Which is why they get the stars.
We also got tots and Mac n’ cheese for all the raves but the food just is not good.
The tots aren’t seasoned and the mac isn’t either.
Though everyone around us that had a burger looked happy. So we will try that next
time. Also, the guy at the door helped with our order and he was sweet.

Great place to have a conversation at if you rather drink a beer than a cup of joe.
Excellent bar food, check the menu special’s board. Daisy Cutter (what else can you ask for?), good music, no tv, no bad vibe? they’ve got it there.

A functional photobooth in a dark bar with cheap delicious food? Yes. All the yes.
While walking to this place, I was dubious of my dinner companion’s suggestion, but it was a great alternative to eating at Dusek’s or Punch House.
Cash only and there’s an ATM inside. All the beers are $ 5 and under (there’s one drink that’s $ 6).
The tater tots appetizer was much bigger and better than I expected. My fried dinner chicken entrée was also quite delicious.

For a local dive bar, it is AMAZING. The food, that is. I don’t really drink much beer and their cocktail selection of course is limited to your gin/​tonic varieties (which were weak). But the highlight is the DELICIOUS food they have. Pretty much everything I have ate there was HUGE in portion and SO DAMN YUMMY (skylark burger, fried chicken dinner, any of their specials on the chalkboard). Just remember the TATOR TOTS. Mountains of golden fried piping hot nuggets of potato love. MMMmmmm.

This was my second time at Skylark and I love the vibe and craft beer selection. The food was also great. The tater tots are darn near perfect and I really liked the Cuban sandwich. That being said, both times I’ve been here, the tables have been uneven which puts my delicious beer at risk of spilling. I also can’t give 5 stars to a place that’s «cash only». No one carries cash anymore!

Great food period. Salmon sandwich is incredible. Price is so reasonable. Can’t wait to go back as their menu is always updated and fresh. The vibe is like any other dive bar but the staff is friendly, real and great at making recommendations, too.

They hate us cuz they ain’t us. This place is legit! The tots with all those dipping sauces are a must if you come here!!! The pizza and fish burger are just average, but that’s not why I come here. Nice staff, great beer selection, and a comfortable divey atmosphere are what makes this place great. It’s pretty dark in there, so don’t be surprised. Photobooth is a nice touch, it’s an old school one so it won’t fit more than 3 – 4 people.

+4 stars just because they have baskets full of tater tots and fries for $ 5 and mix drinks for $ 3.50 (I had gin and gingers and gin and tonics for that price)

Skylark, been a patron and fan for years up until August of 2014. Service has always been whatever but the burgers, beers, and bar itself always kept me coming back. Until Skylark decided to employ a waitress who does not greet patrons appropriately and she is the opposite of professional. Cold food, throws check, and beyond slow. She is sloppy looking, needs a shave and good manners. I peep in before i decide to go in case she is there I turn away. Skylark please hire better help.

Walking into the bar, I felt like I was in a pretty dreary looking shack with a ton of seating. Do not let the interior fool you! This place is a gem. As others before said keep your mind open and skylark will amaze you. While glancing at the menu and having a quick chat with the bartender, you’ll find that they serve two dollar PBR and I’m confident that many of their draft beers cost less than five dollars. The drinks are certainly great, but the food here is fantastic! Each burger is juicy, cooked exactly as ordered, and comes with a mountain of pretty tasty fries. The skylark burger had two gigantic onion rings in the middle and, in my opinion, a place that serves onion rings is awesome in my book.

Skylark. Not just the name of the Buick Mark Geezy was conceived in, but a good place to grab a beer and bite in Pilsen.
I’m not gonna front. There’s better options in the area for food. However, like a grown-​ass man has the tendency to do, I crave some fu*king tater tots sometimes. Skylark gives you those, and 3 side sauces to dip them in. They also have really good mac and cheese. Yes, mac and cheese. I don’t wanna grow up because I’m a Toys R Us kid. You feel me? The burgers, though, are pretty average. If you’re craving a real good burger, I’d recommend hitting up Simone’s nearby.
Buuut, if you’re craving good craft beer on the cheap, Skylark definitely wins that battle. They always have a number of good beers on tap, and them bi*tches never go for above $ 5.50. This ultimately is why they get 4 stars from me.
The service isn’t anything to write home about. They aren’t overly fast or friendly. They’re efficient when it’s not busy. When it is busy, good luck.

Such a cute and local dive bar. When we came it wasn’t very crowded. this place must have been around for quite a while, it looks very vintage and underdog. I love it!
Beers here range from 4.50−5 dollars and the one my bf got was pretty darn good (I normally don’t like beer).
He got the famous Skylark burger and tater tots. SO GOOD. the burger and the crunch crispy tots were amazing!
I got the steak and potatoes with salad which was equally as amazing. For such an underdog place the steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned amazing.
Our total dinner bill here came out to be less than $ 25 for steak, burger and beer. omg!
Service was average B.
Food was A++. I loved everything!
Price to ratio was A+.
Interior was cool, B+ but location was a bit in the middle of nowhere lol.
