I am so glad I decided to ignore the low rating and bad reviews for this place because my experience was faaaaar from bad.
To begin, the store is located on the south side of Chicago, the second to last stop on the redline (87^th) to be exact. Due to the fact that I live on the north side, I made sure to call the store first and find out if they carried a certain brand I was looking for. THIS is where great customer service came in, I called and asked the person who answered the phone to confirm they carried a specific brand, after the woman confirmed I then asked for a specific product within the brand. The woman then took the time to walk down to the aisle the brand was located and inspect the shelves until she found the product I was looking for. Woohoo!
The fact that I received such helpful customer service over the phone definitely confirmed that a trip to the store may be worth it regardless of the distance.
Once I arrived to the strip mall where the store was located (tons of parking by the way), I was greeted by the Mother of all beauty supply stores. Sistar Beauty is in a building that was once a Best Buy store, that should give you an idea on how massive the inside is. I’m talking wall to wall wigs & hair weave galore! Tons of false eyelashes, makeup, beauty products, hair tools, jewelry, shoes and even clothing! I seriously felt like a kid in a candy store.
While walking around the store I was approached by several of the employees who were polite and asked if I needed any help. Thumbs up in my book!
As for the pricing, everything that I purchased was inexpensive –they were little things like hair gel, shower caps and deep conditioners. If you’re buying hair or hair tools expect to spend a much bigger amount.
I will say that the person checking me out clearly was one of the owners of the store and did come off a bit cold but whatever, the employees were lovely which made up for it. Overall my experience was pleasant and I will be back.

I’m pretty surprised at the reviews. I only went there once some months back. I bought a «leather looking» skirt and some usual hair products (oil sheen, thermal protector). I had a young lady helping me in the clothing section and when I went to the counter to purchase, the cashier and employees were friendly and talking to me.
In fact I’m going back today after work to get some hair stuff. :) See you all soon. I’ll be in a long eggplant colored coat if you see me lol

They have a very large selection, but I won’t be going back. The staff is ridiculously unprofessional and the owner walked past me 5 times without saying a word. I was never asked if I needed help & he never sent anyone over. In another section of the store, the employees watched me wait at the counter for someone & just watched. I stood there so long I thought they were customers too! I stopped a security guard & asked him to call someone for me, only to find out it was the same group of girls watching me. Then, someone else needed help in another section, of course the guard called again & this lazy heifer got mad saying that he was acting like someone else who irritated her & she didn’t want to hear him on the walkie all day! This was all in front of me! This was my second & last visit.

Poor customer service. High pricing. No public restroom in such a huge store. I think that whoever the owner is May be a business newbie or something. I don’t recommend this place

Do not go to this place! I went there on yesterday just to get my credit so that I could purchase some items to my dismay I was told that the restroom was not for the public. So that where everything started I was told by security and a manager (who would not give me her name) told me that I could not use the restroom then another security officer can and asked me what was the problem I informed him that there was not a problem but that I needed to use the restroom he gave the same spill and he asked the manager if I was going to be served she said no the security told me to leave I said no I told him that I came to get my credit and get some items the the manager keep saying NO I told her that she was doing a disservice and that I was going to the BBB and ADA about what had accrued with me and only then she told the security that I could shop and then told the employee why she was not waiting on me. So then I was waited on by a lovely young lady. I purchased my items and will never return again.

Large selection of products, average to high pricing. Cashier seemed noticeably cold as if she did not want to help us with our purchase. I am not surprised to read that others have had not so great customer service from this place.

I was going to write this long detailed expose but why risk carpal tunnel dealing with the wanksters. They are big on supply and low on customer service. You will definitely have to tell somebody off, most likely a manager, unfortunately good service starts at the top by example so don’t expect anything spectacular. Managers are rude especially the lady in the back with the shorter hair. With all the beauty supplies in chicago you can make this your last stop. Their prices arent anything to write home about either.

Wide variety of items however terrrriblllleeee customer service… I’ve came here a few times to give it another chance you know, thinking perhaps I caught some ppl on a bad day. No! From the cashiers on to the mangers/​owners — just terrible. One manager was cursing out the cashier while she was cashing me out… She was so embarrassed. I will say the greeter (male, African American) is always nice and the young ladies working in the wig section. Other than that, awful.

Extremely bad service. Unfortunately, it was from the manager. A friend and I went into the store today to try and find certain beauty product. We began looking around and then my friend needed to find the restroom. One of the salespeople escorted her to the back and then we continued shopping. As we were talking to the salesperson, the manager came up to her and began chastising her loudly, telling her that she needed his permission before anyone could use the bathroom. Really!!! Do you not see she is helping us? Do you not see that we are about to spend at least $ 100 – 200 in your store??? Nope, he didn’t care. Upon leaving, we gave him a piece of our mind and left… I can’t speak for my friend but I will find another beauty supply. Tell a friend!
